No need to continue since you are so far off base on this subject that it is pointless. When someone comes up with a bizarre statement like this -- "The eight messengers lied" -- it is time to move on. And then you come up with a TOTALLY UNRELATED matter such as "and the Glory of the Lord entering the east gate" it shows that you are desperate to prove something rather than admit that you were wrong. Therefore "no retraction". And since joaniemarie cannot support her false accusation, she has simply dodged the question and gone off on a tangent.

seems to depend on how far a person wants to read into it, blame the devil for everything including what the friends said (I certainly do not see them as emissaries for the devil...if they were, half of all Christians are also when they speak out of turn)

interestingly, it seems many believe that the book of Job is far older than the history of Abraham and what follows him

that would really put an interesting outlook on it IMO

My bf and I were studying on this the other night. He is really good about picking things up in the Bible and being able to put them in order. We were talking about Job and where he went in scripture and then he just started reading in the Bible and found there is a Job mentioned in the Genealogy of the people that came with Jacob into Egypt...Genesis 46:13

Here is an interesting study done on it....

Oh, are you calling Our sovreign Lord a liar?

Malachi 1Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

1 A prophecy, the word of Adonai to Isra’el through Mal’akhi:

2 “I love you,” says Adonai.
But you ask, “How do you show us your love?”
Adonai answers, “‘Esav was Ya‘akov’s brother.
Yet I loved Ya‘akov 3 but hated ‘Esav.
I made his mountains desolate
and gave his territory to desert jackals.”
4 Edom says, “We are beaten down now,
but we will come back and rebuild the ruins.”
Adonai-Tzva’ot answers, “They can build,
but I will demolish.
They will be called the Land of Wickedness,
the people with whom Adonai is permanently angry.
5 You will see it and say, ‘Adonai is great,
even beyond the borders of Isra’el.’”

Luke 6:46-49 NKJV - Jesus said , it will be "vehement," i.e., strong with every attempt to destroy.

Build on the Rock
46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.[h] 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell.[i] And the ruin of that house was great.”

According to the scripture, this will come no matter how much faith a Christian will have. Question? Is this a test for Christians? Did "Job" go through this vicissitude of life?

Amen.
Two swords to guard the way.
24 “So, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on bedrock. 25 The rain fell, the rivers flooded, the winds blew and beat against that house, but it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain fell, the rivers flooded, the wind blew and beat against that house, and it collapsed — and its collapse was horrendous!”

you obviously have a problem

I didn't cause it and I don't have a clue what has seemingly ticked you off

I don't believe I've had the pleasure before, so perhaps this is your way of introducing yourself

hint: not gonna go over very well

I suggest you get over yourself

I won't be responding to more of this nonsensical parody of an actual prophet

well of course prob more than 1 person had that name...I doubt he was a contemporary of Jacob

for some reason, I think I am leaning towards an older history for Job

but I guess that's speculation

came back to add tomorrow I'll look into it with the link you provided

If you believe that a stern kindness is beyond the meekness of good soil..
Then you have yet to understand what it means to be a friend who would help plow a field in winter.
Sin is measured by the hardness of the heart.

And yet you are decieved to think that iron has no place with clay.
Sort your house and look closer with keen eyes after hearing first, (listen

To walk humbly with the Lord is to seek with a gift of sheer discernment and reverence for The Holy One and the language given freely to the prophets.

What can we learn from the life/story of Job?
There are many things we can learn from the Book of Job, however the following springs to mind:

1) It was through this series of trials and temptations that God perfected Job’s faith, patience and character. Job chapters 1 and 2, Rom 5v1-5, James 1v2-4,12, 5v11,12, Luke 22v31-34.

2) God puts a great wall of protection around his dear saints. Job chapters 1 and 2.

3) The Devil can not lay a finger upon God’s saints, he can only do what God permits him to do. Job chapters 1 and 2.

4) Trials and temptation faced with God will give us an abundant entrance into the Kingdom of God, and while we are in them our dear Lord Jesus is interceding for us making His Grace available to us. 2Cor 12v9, Phil 4v19, Heb 2v17,18, 4v15, 7v25, 2Peter 1v10,11.

As I said in the beginning, I was very disappointed in Job's friends' responses to him at this most difficult time. Were they actually there to support Job or just to accuse him?

In one sense its its like ;wake up smell the suffering.

I would say like all anti types Job was used to typify or represent the work of Christ not seen as he works in the heart of man to both will and perform his good pleasure(our imputed righteousness)

It would seem the Holy Spirit used Job who like us who are receiving the goal of our faith the salvation of our soul to demonstrate the suffering of Christ beforehand and glory that did follow as the gospel thread woven through the scriptures.

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.1Pe 1:9

It reminded me of Jesus as the Son of man used in a parable in the beginning of his three day demonstration of his work of faith or labor of Love in the garden. This is where Jesus and the Father were working together in perfect harmony and submission to one another to accomplish one goal of one faith . We know he was working indicated by sweat . As Christ suffered He poured out his promised Spirit as if it was blood and the Father heard his cries, strengthened the Son of man so that he could finish that part of the demonstration.

It would seem he put the disciples asleep in sorrow until the work was finished. Indicating there is no work on our part needed. The same could be applied to Job’s friends. The work must have been of the peace of God alone .That peace because it is not alone but comes from two working together we therefore can be assured it is not of ourselves but what it actually is the peace of God.

I think in that way we can apply the attribute of Jealous to God (Exodus 34:14) He will not share that glory with the flesh of any man .

And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him. Luk 22:40

Your words sometimes do come across to me as more than "stern kindness" especially since you are not looking that person in the face.

Learn to guard your heart with spiritual armor

My heart is guarded by the Holy Spirit and whenever I go "off track" the HS reminds me. Also, we sometimes forget that our mouths should be as guarded as our hearts.

What would you do to encourage iyov?

Personally, I can only offer experience.
Test the spirits, and you will find it is just as i have stated before.
Remember what Paul said, power of air, "wind"

The messengers in the account of iyov were liars,.
