many 'pagan-rituals' are of course still practiced in the world today...

imagine, Boaz only needed a 'shoe', to confirm His Love and Mercy and feeling of responsibility
upon, (most all know 'who'?)...just another 'beautiful, beautiful message that our Father gave to us
concerning His, Holy ways...

1 Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Many preachers use this verse to come down hard on the women in their church and keep them all tied up. Just as the woman is to stay in her place, so a man and their children are to stay in their place also.

The word
"suffer" as used here is written because of what Paul was doing prior to his conversion. Paul was going into churches and dragging women out into the streets, stripping them and beating them even to their death. It didn't matter to Paul prior to his conversion or any of those ordered by the high priest what they did with the ladies that would preach the Word of God.

Paul knew the suffering that anyone that taught the Word of God would receive at the hands of the Kenite priests and religious leaders, and he did not desire that to come on the Christian ladies of the church. This was a dangerous time to teach the Word of God, and Paul's intent was that the men should take the stand, have the backbone and preach the Word with all the risks that were present.

Paul knew those risks to those that he taught, for he carried the letter from the high priests, those sons of Satan, that had no respect for women in any manner. In fact, he was carrying the letter when he was on that road to Damascus to do just this to the men and women that were preaching and teaching God's Word. It was very embarrassing to the ladies, and even caused many of their deaths. Paul is now saying here that "I give you the liberty and the authority to not do it, to not teach and preach, and cause you to be placed is such danger.

There were women prophets, which is to say teachers in Paul's day and this upsets some of the menfolk. Those that take this verse center on the word "not", and skip over the word "suffer", and they continue in their clouds of confusion and bigotry, for it makes them feel very manly to wheel their force over women, and in many cases the women have more knowledge and understanding than the menfolk that is over them.

Paul was trying to protect all woman from the kind of treatment that was expected in those days to give anyone that preached or taught. As far as silence goes in the church, no matter who is speaking during a church service, no man woman or child should be allowed to speak and carry on when another is teaching the Word. Paul gave the woman the liberty to keep still and not teach if she did not want to, for this sake.

Acts 21:9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

Philip had four daughters, and now pay special attention what these daughters did.

They prophecied (taught God's Word). Today many say that there is no way a woman is to preach in a church, they are supposed to keep quiet in the church.

Well, Philip was one of the chosen by the Apostles, that walked and talked with God, and was to be one of the administrators of the Church from the beginning, and has taught all four of his virgin daughters the Word and they prophesy through the Holy Spirit.

God used those four women, and God will use whomever He pleases, and directs them to speak to people where ever He leads them.

If a man chooses to ignore a prophecy from God, that will be his loss.

Women should pay attention to these scriptures where God favors His servants, especially when they are direct to the ladies. Then when some old duffer tries to put you on a trip, prod him a little with the Word of God. God gives gifts to different members of the body of Christ, and He is not a respecter of persons.

He knows who can get His job done for Him, and who will waste those gifts.

And, if we take a close look into the church world today, we will see that much of the work that needs to get done is done by the ladies.

The word

Jesus says in Mark 10:14 (also recorded in Matthew and Luke), "Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not...." The word "suffer" had two meanings in the early 1600's. With one we are still familiar - to undergo unpleasant circumstances. For the other, we now would more commonly use the either "allow" or "permit".

Paul knew the suffering that anyone that taught the Word of God would receive at the hands of the Kenite priests and religious leaders, and he did not desire that to come on the Christian ladies of the church. What in the context of Paul's letter to Timothy suggests this conclusion?

Judges 4:4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

We will see in chapter five that Deborah had a Divine intervention. Deborah is a prophetess, which is a teacher of God's Word, and one that God used greatly. Many critics say that Deborah was not a judge, however, the manuscripts say that Deborah did judge Israel at that time. Israel had a woman leading it.

Judges 4:5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.

God chose Deborah to judge Israel at this time. God used Deborah to witness, judge and lead for Him, and this is as it shall be in the latter days. The prophet Joel prophesied in Joel 2:28 of this.

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

When the Holy Spirit comes upon these daughters, these women [young and old] they shall teach and preach the Word of God. This is as it was on the day of Pentecost as recorded in Acts 2:1-3.

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

Men and women alike, all those that loved the Lord and they were waiting for the Promise that Jesus said in Acts 1:4, 5 that would come to them on the day of Pentecost. That Promise was God's Spirit, the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

Acts 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

Many today are told that the mixture of sounds that goes on in the church houses, that sounds like nothing but confusion is this speaking in cloven tongues. However, if this were so, then there would need no interpretation to the confusion that is passed off as tongues, but as we see later in Acts 2:6 that every person present in Jerusalem, when these saints took the streets each of these foreigners understood in their own language and even in the dialect of the neighborhood that they came from around the world.

Acts 2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

The point that is brought out here is that God is going to use men and women alike in the latter days, and that time is now. The latter days started when the Jews went back to Jerusalem and established a nation, which is the time of the fig tree as Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:32-34.

some of us men do MOST of the cooking in our household....

and, come to think of it.... I was taught by a woman! :)
Yes...some men can cook...but some men don't know what a pot or pan is! My ex was left to fend for himself and I can home to the worst stench that lasted a week and a microwave that caught on fire, black inside, and melted. When I asked what happened he said, " the frozen burrito said to microwave for 20 minutes". I couldn't do anything but bite my lips to keep from ROFL...I took the package out of trash and asked him to read it more carefully! "Microwave for 2 minutes."

Hey, when hubby wasn't home for a while, I found out what happens if you turn the microwave on with a bag of Frito's in it for even three seconds. (The bag shrink-wraps quickly.)

Instructions specific to husbands and wives is what I'd like to get at here in the OP's question. There are several instances in 1 Corinthians 11 regarding roles in worship that use the same word translation of man and/or woman within the same verse but differing variations in the Greek although containing the same root. Unfortunately, I am not a Greek scholar to be able to tell if and when a word might indicate women/men in general and husbands/wives in particular.

When considering that the wedding ring ceremony is actually of Roman origin, and the traditional custom among Hebrews is for women to wear head coverings only after they are married, I think being able to delineate these particular distinctions in the text is key to a better understanding of exactly what is expected of all of us, as well as what may. or may not, be forbidden.
Best instructions I've ever received on how to be a good wife is the Proverbs 31 woman. (You'll need to modernize a bit, unless you do have servants and a gate where the men spend the day gathering.)

Best instructions found for men is "love your wife as Christ loves the church."

To the Author of the OP:

Were you thinking of a particular woman? Or does the Title require a woman's touch to make it read properly?

This is not intended to be rude, but... where do you get this stuff?

I would offer a proper understanding of the ceremonial laws as to their purposes used as shadows of the good things to come and how they are used as parables can help give understanding to the new testament form of government. The time of reformation had come.

This ceremonial law like all ceremonial laws are as shadows... they point ahead. This new testament one where woman is to be silent is to to the wedding super in the new heaven and earth. . As in all ceremonial laws they govern ceremonies not morals and therefore we are not to judge one another in regard to.

Once a person gets past the judging whether or not Woman is equal to Man then we can find the gospel hidden in the parables.

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.Col 2:16

That new incorruptible body is not male nor female, Jew not gentile .She is simply called the wife of Christ.

The woman required to be silent and the hair covered or men not covered can be added to the list above as shadows
