"Sarcasm is “a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter jibe or taunt.” Though irony and understatement is usually the immediate context, most authorities sharply distinguish sarcasm from irony." Sarcasm - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

How about instead of "Awaiting lawyeristic spin.....5...4....3....2......." something like "I look forward to your reply?" were employed.

A consistent reliance on sarcasm as a communication method lends the appearance of a flawed character.

Secrets revealed from an ex Jesuit Priest.

As he states in his book - he has 30 years of knowledge into Catholicism and goings-on in the church. Definitely worth a read.

He shared his book online for all to read. It's fascinating. I'm on page 2 so far....

Everyone in the real world that is who arn't trapped in cults.

Does the RCC have a dogma yet on 9-11?

Has Pope wassisface officially said it was done by 12 arabs (of undetermined nationality) with rusty exacto knives? Amazingly how those tiny knives can cut through huge steel core columns.

LOLZ!

Admit it...yer just a coincidence theorist.
ROTFLMHO again!!!!!!

i mean COME ON

The Catholics published assertion is that:

"The Society was not founded with the avowed intention of opposing Protestantism. Neither the papal letters of approbation nor the Constitutions of the order mention this as the object of the new foundation. When Ignatius began to devote himself to the service of the Church, he had probably not even heard of the names of the Protestant Reformers. His early plan was rather the conversion of Mohammedans, an idea which, a few decades after the final triumph of the Christians over the Moors in Spain, must have strongly appealed to the chivalrous Spaniards."

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: The Jesuits (The Society of Jesus)

Unfortunately, they very quickly began vigorously opposing Protestantism and it can be argued that they do so today. Interestingly; however, they were not actually formed for that purpose.

Portraying that historical fact as a "camel" that needs to be "swallowed" doesn't serve history.

So what yer saying is.....because the Catholic church didnt MAKE KNOWN her position on Protestant heresies until after the Jesuits were approved...THAT means that the Jesuits were not formed for that purpose???

And you would like us to swallow that camel with what kind of beverage?

No zone he did not. He was being sarcastic. The Judaizers had emphasized circumcision more than the Old Testament Law had. The mentality of the Judaizers was that the cutting off of a little flesh was commendable and pleasing in God's sight. In short, they taught that circumcision contributed to a man's righteousness. If this were really true, Paul queries, then why not press the matter even further? If cutting off a little flesh is good, cutting off much flesh is even better. Why not be so pious as to castrate oneself?

Since the Old Testament Law forbade a castrated man from entering the assembly of the Lord (Deut. 23:1), no Jew would ever have considered going this far. Hence the sarcasm. Your point is noted.

I wouldn't call Paul a sarcastic person; however, that oozed sarcasm in almost every statement everywhere he went. No. Just the opposite. He had his moments but they were exceptions to the rule and almost always seem to be employed in desperate attempts to protect new flocks of Christians from wolves (as was the verse in Galatians you referenced) rather than striving to appear as Paul the Snarky.

These anti-catholics will AUTOMATICALLY and UNEQUIVOCALLY embrace ANY and ALL anti-catholic material, no matter how ridiculous or falsely based it is. They feed off of it like vultures. It is their candy. And what is also their candy is bashing catholics and catholicism because it makes them feel righteous and intellectually superior when in fact they are simply feeding their egos and laughing at those who are trying to explain to them the TRUTH about the catholic faith.

God bless them!

Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.

Thank you. And yes the Bible is full of irony and some sarcasm; however, sarcasm is not irony (1) and often we find the sarcastic people ending up in ironic situations that are very bad for them.
  1. Eric Partridge, Usage and Abusage, Penguin, 1969. “Irony must not be confused with sarcasm, which is direct: sarcasm means precisely what it says, but in a sharp, caustic, ... manner."
Where have I been? I have been to the edge.

Ya erm...not reliable unfortunately. the Catholics are hardly gonna publish the truth are they?

Unfortunately, they very quickly began vigorously opposing Protestantism and it can be argued that they do so today. Interestingly; however, they were not actually formed for that purpose.

You making that statement does not make it so. We look at what happened. It's obvious they were formed as a militia to stop protestantism.

The Catholic Church has published the truth. You don't want the truth, you want to be right. Bit of a difference.

Why would I not want the truth dude?
Because then you'd be proven to be wrong, and it's quite painful and humbling to have to admit it. I know, I went through it. But there is also healing in that realization. And joy. When I realized I was wrong about the Catholic Church, I felt so angry. Angry at myself, at God, at life, and I didn't want to admit it. It was humiliating. But after a while, I accepted it, and eventually found myself in an even closer, more wonderful relationship with Our Lord.

Don't be afraid. It will be a painful journey, but you'll not be the first to take it, and you'll find so much joy on the other side. You'll find a much closer relationship to Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

OK MAN!

Or it could be that you went from the truth and got brainswashed by a temple cult and now think you have the truth when you have actually believed a lie, and you accepted a lie....and eventually found yourself further and further away from God.

True. But I do have a sense of humor. Asserting that I do not is in itself a false assertion. What I don't do is ooze sarcasm in almost every post and then try to hide it by making false assertions about the character of others Strangelove.

Having no sense of humor lends the appearance of a flawed character.

Asserting that others have made false assertions without evidence is evidence of a flawed character.

Mainstream encyclopedias, scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles by secular historians, scholarly post-doctorate Protestant historians, and the Catholic Church assert that the Jesuits were not formed to combat Protestantism but quickly and vigorously fell into that role.

You disagree. Please bring all your evidence and sources so we may examine them to see if they refute the mainstream encyclopedias, scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles by secular historians, those scholarly post-doctorate Protestant historians, and the Catholic Church that assert otherwise.

I look forward to qualifying your sources to see:

1. If they are truly world-class scholarly sources with impeccable credentials... or something less.
2. If they really can refute most the world's best historians and scholars that assert otherwise by bringing forth objective historical emperical proof that soundly proves the Jesuits were created, from their inception, to combat Protestantism.

Thank you for your prompt and diligent cooperation in this matter.
