Basically I think it for both making kids and for fun... I'm just curious what other people think.

strengthening a relationship between a man and a woman even more, making babies, probably also for fun (sounds weird...)

Those things above--fun, procreation--result, but sex is to consecrate and consummate marriage, to strengthen the marriage bond, so that the union of the two is acceptable and done through Christ, in Christ, by Christ, for Christ's glory.

2 Cor. is good place to learn about Godly marriage.

God bless you, dothack0, for seeking answers here. I pray others will give you great scriptural reference and real situations that show the goodness of this great God-given act :)

It's for much more than fun and/or making babies, although it certainly is those things too. It unites a couple intimately. It fills our need for sexual release, closeness, affection, trust, so many other things.

It's a very vital part of a healthy marriage.

''For fun'' sounds like a weird way of describing it haha but I get what you are saying...I think it's both, among other things they mentioned in the other responses.

Sex is for:

- Fun/Pleasure
- Children
- Comfort
- Knowing one another (intimacy)
- Protection against (sexual) sin
- Oneness (physically and spiritually)

It is for creating more neurons in the brain which will help us think of other important things in life.

I know it for more than fun and making babies. I'm mostly just curious about how many people are brainwashed into just thinking that sex is for making kids and doing it for any reason other than that is an unholy act of the devil. Though really ask you can probably guess, I'm most interested in what unmarried girls are thinking.

I totally agree with this. I'm very sure that bible basically says having sex often is ONE of the key ingredients for preventing adultery.

1 Corinthians 7:5 (NIV) Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

To me its an expression of love and its a form of closeness. Though i think it can also be fun as well. No reason love has to be serious all the time. :D
Far as the baby making element, to me that would be secondary.Or actually at this point in my life, no issue at all. But others that may be more important, of course.

I think for other animals with lower states of consciousness, sex is exclusively used as a means of copulation. Seeing as we have the capacity to realize that sex provides pleasure, we have developed the means to exploit it while reducing the functionality (producing offspring) via the use of contraceptives.

Studies do show that couples that have sex regularly tend to stay passionate about their relationship for longer periods of time and are less likely to become divorced.

I think this is like asking what money is for? Saving or spending.
And then not including, investing, borrowing, lending, bribing, leverage, security, earning, sharing, stealing, winning, loosing etc etc etc. It's so diverse. The more you know about it, the more you can use it for. The more you study, the better you become at using it. Like lots of things in life, if you choose to remain ignorant of it, you will loose out.
Speaking is another thing that has such a huge diversity of uses...

I've never had sex so I don't know if it is any fun.

It was for making children but I promote selective and GM in vitro fertilisation over it being done sexual.

So, maybe neither.

Yes I agree as well. But Ive been told often enough that the majority of the issues in the bedroom are because of issues not being resolved OUTSIDE of the bedroom, and I think God acknowledges that in that verse by saying, get your marriage relationship sorted first. Because sex is such an intimate thing that involves vulnerability and trust and togetherness, if theres some sort of serious sin or abuse going on, then when sex occurs, someone is going to feel awful and used and prostituted and thats not on.

Sex is for procreation. Sex is only to be enjoyed within the context of marriage. The way God intended it to be. And yes; I believe sex is for more than just procreation, it's also for enjoyment and pleasure. But again; remember, this wonderful gift God gave us is only to be enjoyed and done in marriage.

Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Hebrews 13:4 (Holy Bible)

the best mode of transportation for diseases. also a great way to boost the economy, if money is involved.
