This whole thread is completely ridiculous and posted by someone not only making a false accusation, but has yet to actually back this argument up. If you want to claim that all gamers never spend any time on God, back it up. Your post basically says that having a hobby is a sin.
May Jesus bless you vikkikate.

I just want people to be more dedicated to Jesus.

May Jesus bless you.

Video Gamers ignore the Spirit of God.

When they stand before him, he will say to them, ''I never knew you.''

If he showed them their lives, they would see themselves with their earphones on focused on that big bright light of the t.v. than on the light of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. They will see the Spirit of God calling for them, but they can't hear him, because their ears are covered. Their eyes are not on him, but on their games.

They will see that every day, they don't seek his face, but their video games. They don't glorify him, but their video games. They don't know him at all. All they know is their favorite video game.

Everyone will have to give account for what he or she did in this life. And everyone will have to stand before the throne of judgement. Do you know Jesus? Or do you ignore his Spirit?

Turn from your video games and start OBEYING the Spirit of God, because he will not strive with men forever.

May Jesus bless you.

I have to disagree with you. My family and I are strong christians. We play video games all the time. However, we spend a lot of time on our walks with God.

The truth is, that everything has the power to distract us from God, whether it be video games, TV, music, food, people, etc. There is no harm in having a hobby/interest in moderation, it's when you let it consume your every moment that it becomes unhealthy. And I think that everyone has had something at one point or another that they may have over-indulged in. :) Btw, I occasionally enjoy playing video games myself. :D

Video games and evangelizing do not and will never go together. Anybody who says or claims otherwise is only fooling themself.

I completely agree. Obsession in things of this world is what keeps us away from God, but things done in moderation aren't bad at all. There's time for everything, just like it's said in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

Have you ever seen the game Guitar Praise? its for the computer but uses a guitar-shaped controller like Guitar Hero and Band hero. difference is, you're jamming to your favorite Christian bands. I see nothing wrong with making Christian games, ive seen Bibleman games, and all kinds of games related to Christianity. Nothing gets the word of God across to people better than making it fun and interactive, at least in my mind. Say that I'm fooling myself if you want, but I believe in my heart that each person needs approached as an individual with an individual taste in how to accept God.

for example, take a rock-loving active individual.
drop him in a church with a choir. he wont find any appeal in the choir, and he'll get bored during the lengthy sermon.

Take that same person, drop him in a church with an active, jovial worship band that plays songs with a beat he likes. Give him an interactive sermon, with action and appeal.

which church do you think will lead him to love God more?

now, compare a person who likes things he can literally immerse his mind in, like video games, and a person who likes to read.

you have to approach each person individually, because every person looks for God in their own way. Some give God the praise through rap and screamo, others through choir and gospel. Dont call the guy who likes loud music a sinner just because you dont like that music yourself. that would be the same as God calling you a sinner because you are old-fashioned, and refuse to accept new ways of approaching the Faith.

I just cant bury my mind in the bible, not at this point at least, reading absorbs me yes, but the way the bible is written in any version tends to not stay in my mind. Give me a game, I dont care how simple, and I will get more out of the game than the bible, because I, along with any kid between 9 and 25, get wrapped up in the dynamics of videogames easier than dark letters on a page.

WOW! Is that a fact! All I can say to that is you don't know many gamers who are Christians! I used to listen to people like you telling everyone that different things were evil and would take you straight to hell! Not anymore. There is only one reason people go to hell and that is "Because they reject Jesus"! Now there are some games that are far from well how do I put it, good for you to play, but there is nothing wrong with gaming as long as you don't out it before God! Just like anything else! If you put food, money, marriage, kids, friends, car, etc, etc before God it becomes an idol and that really makes God angry. Don't you dare come in here and tell me that because I like to sit down occationly and play football or nascar or even battle field that God does not know me! I though away things years ago that I can never replace because of some idiot who preached to us for a week about these things and that they would seperate from God! What is in your life Ramon that displeases God? Don't judge me, and you have here along with judging so many others with your ranting about something you no nothing about in your short 25 years of life! Think I'd better shut up because you have really got me going here and I am getting angry. If God tells me He does not know me it won't be because I played video games. It will be because I rejected Him, and I have not done that! HE IS MY SAVIOUR and you or anyone else including that little scumbag satan (doesn't even rate a capital with his name) can ever change or take that away from me! Grow up and study the WORD before you proclaim it!

Very nicely put Mrdll! I may be only 18 but I know exactly where you're coming from. Anything at all can distract you away from God. Even the Bible can! or your Church! I've seen it, and so have my parents. the Jews let Moses' law become their god, and even the Law came after their own personal advancement. A hobby is just that, something on the side that you enjoy to do personally for yourself. One can say there are better hobbies, like woodworking and Metal fabricating, like I do instead of games, but the point remains, that if I let my hobbies get in the way of God, even if they are good they become bad. Life is a difficult balance, and I often find myself tipping too far one way or the other for my preference.

Could not agree with you more! And btw, if you want an easy to read Bible that has stories that relate to everyday living, check out The Everyday Life Bible with commentary by Joyce Meyer. Since buying and reading it, I have viewed the Bible in a whole different light! :)

I'm a video gamer, but I know that there are more important things to do than that. Video games = leisure and enjoyment. Relationship with Christ = WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY more important than that.

Ramon I think the time you spend thinking up ridiculous posts condeming the greater mass of people is distracting from your time with God. Perhaps you should be more dedicated to Jesus.
As you have said Jesus saves. Do you really think your constant condemnation is helping to bring people to him? There are people on this site unsure about what they beleive and if I had seen most of what you say as a new Christian I would have run for the hills.
Jesus wants us to make diciples not to tear down those who have already given their lives to him. God loves us Ramon. Try to remember that.

Actually, Ramon says some of this stuff because for the majority people it's true! Look at MW3, people get home play that for hours, sleep wake up etc.Of course you can play video games, but the point is... you could be reading the bible, or even focusing on your next goal in life. Sure if you want to play Xbox, PS3 or whatever, don't let it overtake your life, why spend so many hours everyday on it?

Even if it IS biased against Video Gamers, it was never said that other things don't have the same effect, video games are just a big issue in a lot of countries.

Okay, I just had to jump in here.

Video Gamers themselves arent sinners. its when the line between 'pasttime', 'hobby', and 'lifestyle' gets crossed, that it becomes sinful.
I could not agree more, that was very well-put. :)

Jesus didn't need games, neither did the apostles. Neither do anyone who has Jesus, as he is all they need.
Have you ever played tennis, Ramon? How about board games? Then God doesn't know you, apparently.

I just want people to be more dedicated to Jesus.
You went about it like a bull in a china shop.

Henreeeeey! Great verses, incredibly apropos.
