Have you ever seen the game Guitar Praise? its for the computer but uses a guitar-shaped controller like Guitar Hero and Band hero. difference is, you're jamming to your favorite Christian bands. I see nothing wrong with making Christian games, ive seen Bibleman games, and all kinds of games related to Christianity. Nothing gets the word of God across to people better than making it fun and interactive, at least in my mind. Say that I'm fooling myself if you want, but I believe in my heart that each person needs approached as an individual with an individual taste in how to accept God.
First of all, no I have not ever seen any ''christian" videogame. They are not marketed on television, radio or anywhere that I have come across. I haven't seen them in any stores, even the christian book stores (not likely to find a non-believer shopping for a videogame there) I am not saying that they do not exist, just that I have never seen them, they sell to a very small market and are (probably) made specifically for christian enjoyment, not to convert unbelievers.

It is one thing to say that games can be fun and informative, but it is something totally different to say that videogames evangelize people.

If music and movies r capable of evangelising, then so r games...some ppl, after hearing a christian song or seeing a christian movie, have become christians...why? becuz of the message given in the song/movie, well, vidgames can give messages too, just as good as music and movies if done in the right way...and its true that "christian" games r in the minority an u barely ever hear about them, but that can change...after all christian rock music used to be in the minority...now theres alot of it an some is really popular, same can happen with games...besides, isnt it u christians that say "Anything is possible with god"? ;)

Peace Out pplz :D

Just because all things are possible with God, does not mean that God is going to use these things for His kingdom.

Don't look to movies, music and videogames for the truth. We should be looking to GOD and his WORD, and the truth himself....JESUS CHRIST

But music and movies and vidgames can help lead ppl to god and the word, some ppl can only be reached thru their hobby, true u shudnt focus on those things as a christian but they can help lead a non-christian to christ and then after that they will focus on christ...and if some ppl can only be reached thru vidgames then im sure god will use them.

Peace Out pplz :D

Nothing wrong with gaming.

I've been gaming since I was a kid. Nothing wrong with them but if you have personal convictions against them

Don't play them. Simple as.

Things like movies, sports, video games, art, music etc.. etc.. are all in he same boat. They become an issue if they set you back in your walk with the Lord. If your watching the wrong movies, playing the wrong video games, listening to the wrong music, it will distract you and draw your eyes from the Lord. Also, if ANYTHING comes before the time you spend with the Lord, then it becomes bad, then it becomes and issue I.E: An idol. In and of themselves, video games are NOT an issue, it is the user and is all dependent on that individuals walk with the Lord

Anything in life can distract you from God. School distracts you, food distracts you, family drama distracts you, washing your hair distracts you, studying distracts you etc. Pretty much everything can distract you from God and I bet you something else can distract you too. Maybe not gaming in your case but in each of our lives there's some sort of "distraction". We don't sit around reading Bible all day and praying. We do other things too. I mean don't tell me you sit there and read the Bible all day and talk to no one/do nothing except reading the Bible and praying? You cannot put the blame on "gaming" and all of a sudden that's this BIG MEGA HUGE distraction that is going to send you to hell. There are MANY other distractions that are just as "bad". Being on this very forum is a "distraction" as well if you're answering something non-Spiritual. So you do get where I'm going with this. I think I have a great relationship with God but still enjoy playing games, watching movies, listening to music and reading? And guess what, many other people do that too. In fact MOST people do things that are non Spiritual related on a daily basis. God gave us things to enjoy. We should just be wise enough to know when we should take a break and get in touch with God.Things like gaming doesn't mean we "ignore" God. He's always there for us and we can talk whenever we want to. We ignore God then when we eat a ice cream as well I suppose too. Doesn't seem quite right to me.

Using video games to evangelize? Really? Is it just me or does that just sound outright ridiculous?
I'll admit it is difficult, but done properly I don't think this is ridiculous. Wisdom Tree was the first attempt at this. This and other ideas are what inspired me to create ChristianGameMaker.com.

Games CAN be a big distraction from God, and some can even be Satanic, e.g. Psychonauts:
Psychonauts <-- Clicky

There are also groups like the Christian Gamers Alliance, which tries to witness to others through online chat in video games, etc.

However, like anything else, it can be a tool for good and for evil. Imagine if there was a game which was able to interestingly teach kids the bible. Perhaps through researching actual scripture to find the answer to a puzzle. These ideas and more are what inspires me to do this hobby as I have time to do so. :D

Xenosaga is one such series with quit a bit of emphasis and references to Biblical characters, places, etc. Despite the fact that it's a total Sci-Fi game, I think it's one such series that could help point young'uns to seek the Scriptures, or at least be a catalyst to spark their interest.

There are far worse things than video games. Seriously, if playing video games is the worst someone has done, you really got a lot of nerve nitpicking them about it.

Careful now. "Do not be wise in your opinion". Romans 12:16

What the OP is saying is not untrue, after all; even if it is coming off as condemning rather than constructive.

Yeah, I heard it got a guy interested enough in God that he decided to goto chruch because of it. And after I found that out, I figured out it's possible for video games to be used for evangelizion, or even just get to get interested in God.

I Think that's not really correct.
EVERY hobby takes up time, wether it be football, baseball or even school, Pretty sure the time you spend on those will not make God tell you he doesn't know you.
