President Richard Nixon was a an avowed racist and anti-Semitic but he put that aside because he said that his power were entrusted to him by the American people and took an oath to empower the poor and those in need.

Pres. Nixon actually did more to empower Black people than Bill Clinton or Barack Obama because he was committed to fulfilling his oath as President of the United States.
Yes, but we see what happens to those who actually want to do for the people. I will just name three, counting the one you gave.

Nixon, Lincoln, Kennedy

I don't think people will act against government. They're too attached to what they have to risk what they've got so as to take a risk and fight for what they want and deserve as a truly free people.

I am also of a mind that the voting system as it is now is a rig. I think the popular vote should elect candidates. Period.
If we're suppose to get out and vote, if voter registration is vital, and ID is necessary to keep the lawful voters rights assured, how is it that those individuals votes don't tally individually in the count?
Rescind the Electoral College.

In my opinion I think it will take nothing less than a full out movement against the government before something gets done.

Of what I have seen in the past elections, I don't have confidence that the voting system truly works any more.
Look at how many discrepancies there has been in the voting system in the past.

Example: Bush lost ( But they screamed for a recount, and the state that was in question Bushes uncle was governor or mayor; can't remember which for sure. After the recount all of sudden now Bush won. )

Then the last two elections against Obama, the republican party picked the worse candidate out of who was running for that position to go against Obama. They had better suited candidates that the people liked more, but some how the worse ones got chosen.

I have no trust that the people actually have a voice any more in our voting system. The only voice we have is to actually step up and voice our thoughts in protest on how we feel. To many will not do that though, they will just sit back and complain from their home but not stand up publically.

That is right, they keep the people under fear.

And through that fear they slowly take away each of our constitutional rights, and the people let them.
Through these scare tactics it saddens me to see so many people who consider themselves Christian, now side with things in are political system and law enforcement system that justifies murder.

Did the Lord ever say in NT scripture do not murder unless they do this or that..................???

look i dont mean to be harsh but i am a humanitarian and a follower of christ. what i was lead to believe by the holy spirit to believe the way i do "jesus message to me seems to be more about love and doing gods will. why cant we come together as one people followers of christ and get away from the religious title of christianity. and just be followers of christ. i see so much injustice in the world how much poverty there is how many orphans their are. didnt jesus tell us to take care of these people why are we worried about gay marriage or bibles in school when there are so many poor homeless and destitue in the world? why dont we help them first and then worry about the rest? the best way to get to sinners is to show them love show them you are a christian and not just tell them lets not worry about laws the government or the politics. if we can how the world that we are actually taking care of the real problems like hunger and poverty en masse. we have to show them love if we do the sinner will likely think " i want that feeling lie how they feel. i want to know more about them" we must turn to love and acceptance before christianity becomes a minor religion. we are called to be extraordinary why not do it from fixing the real problems? we need to get rid of these rights groups and give everyone the same rights and come together as one group of people. think about the next generation we need to make the world a better place for our children. the only way we can do this is by working on the real people jesus says "love your neighbor like yourself so this way all men will know your mine" get rid of the doctrines and come together under one banner the banner of salvation by jesus. no denominations just one group of peoplei sound harsh in my last post becuse all of the churches and most of the christians ive met have been angry bitter people. have no bitterness nor anger. nor intolerance nor discrimintaion. life is hard as it is everybody has the right to pursue happiness in any way the see fit. we must change to a loving caring church and heal the body of christ or there wont be any christians left to minister to the lost. i have been poor and i have been rich. i am content in any situation im in i may not be happy but content. now that i feel the way i do instead of the way i was. i finally have peace in my life. ive driven more people from church and salvation by being very conservative. i struggled with how i treated people and about how jesus acted towards the sinners im ashamed of iut. im pleading with you all please. open your minds just a tiny bit. see how much injustice is in the world not just for christians but all over the world make an attempt to make a difference in a small way. be steadfast with love and tolerance and acceptance than we are.i know we are being persecuted but in all reality we have it pretty good here as opposed to the middle east and china. christianity in the west is more materialistic and intolerant than in the east how can we get to sinners when we bicker amongs ourselves and we cant even agree on anything. all the denominations need to be done away with. a house divided cannot stand

The answer to your question is because so many who call themselves Christians or followers of Jesus Christ fail to do exactly that, follow Christ.

They profess to know Him, and believe in what He did on the cross but don't believe they have to do anything else but sit back and wait for His return.

They cancel out what He said true followers of Him will do or look like, and if you bring this up to them they start screaming works, works, works, your teaching works for salvation. Or they quote only a few verses that say believe in Him and you are saved, but they don't truly understand the concept of what believe in Him means.

Jesus would not have given us Matthew 25, and James telling us faith with out works is dead, and then in Titus it says they profess to know God but in their works they deny Him.

These would not have been given to us if works done out of love for our Lord did not matter.

We do not look at it as earning salvation, but they do go hand and hand with a believer.

I disagree. I do not believe there are anywhere near as many Republicans as Democrats that want to put Christians on the hate/group/terrorist list either per capita or in the aggregate.

In fact, the polls show just the opposite. So PROVE it Kenneth.

This is off base biscuit, and another way to play a blame game.

There are just as many Republicans and their supporters that want to put Christians on the hate group/terrorist list.

Of course you do. Because you're a "liberal." A wise person would note that given our form of government, which is not a monarchy or state atheist construct, the people could themselves repent and turn back to the God of the Bible and support each other in elections to change government from the inside out.

In my opinion I think it will take nothing less than a full out movement against the government before something gets done.

Go on and keep believing the bias polls.

There have been republicans who have wanted to list Christians as a hate group, and even some along with democrats that want to go further and call them a domestic terrorist. Plus it has been well known and documented that a number of high up republicans have been pushing for a one world government, and police state over the world, and wanting to do away with programs that help people.

Another is the continuous support of wealthy over the middle to lower income, and poor families that plague the republican party.

I grew up in a middle to low income neighborhood, and when ever Regan, Bush, Bush jr. was in office all I can remember is the constant complaining from my parents and the other parents in the neighborhood about how hard is was to make a living and make it day to day from the bad policies these three point in affect.
Obama has made things worse.

Clinton while in office got caught up in scandals, but at least he spent his time cleaning up Bush sr. failed and bad polices. Making it a little easier for people to live. Clinton is the one who passed the bill so that companies could no longer fire some one do to a disability or ailment.

Plus to further the agenda of republicans support of the wealthy over others look at what Romney would have done if elected.
He said he was going to raise taxes on the middle to low income families, but lower them on the wealthy. Then he also said he did not care about a percentage of the American people. He also in his first stance was going to do away with medicare and medicade, until he lost favor for making that stance and then back tracked on that statement. By then it was to late and the public new he could not be trusted.

And sitting back doing nothing, and/or thinking that our governmental system is with out flaw is also a mistake. If you really believe that the voting system still works you have not paid attention to the last elections. Some how the ones that people favored the most did not win the preliminaries or the main election.

I use to be one who believed in polls like AgeofKnowledge does.

Then I actually sat down and talked to people who the polls were about and found out that most of the polls were false, and fabricated to keep people in the dark to the truth. They lose their power and control in a lot of situations that they use fear to get people to side with their agendas.

The government controls most to all of the media outlets. Why do you think some known conspiracy theorists are being hunted down and arrested for what they say. Freedom of speech, and if what they are saying are lies why go through all the effort to stop them. Instead of stopping them, prove them false instead.

Some of them come to close to the truth that our corrupt government does not want released, or they come out with more fabricated lies that can easily be questioned. I don't believe all conspiracies, but I do believe we should listen to them and question them to see if they are close to being true.

We are told in the bible to question, and test all things. If you don't question and test, then you might as well side with the government that can be and has been known to be corrupt.

A professor that I respected came out with his history of Christianity. He mentioned Latourette's POV, how Christianity on planet earth has gone through cycles (like a sine wave) up & down. But Robert Culver had a different POV. He took a piece of chalk and drew a horizontal line on the board & followed it up with an eraser! His POV was that in region after successive region on earth,
1) Christianity is planted,
2) Chrsitianity grows,
3) Christianity flourishes,
4) Christianity is extinguished,
5) Christianity never again has much significant presence in that region (hard soil).

An example of this for him would be North Africa, where there was much professed Christianity before the Moslems came & stamped it out.

Perhaps Great Britain with its empire is another example & the USA now. Already the USA is having missionaries come here!

Maybe the next nations that will have the flourishing will be Russia & China.

On the USA my POV is that since the 1950's like tares & wheat both Christianity and humanism have grown side by side, with the public political scene more & more dominated by humanism to the point that now we have Sodomy getting special privilege and baby-murder abounding. From all appearance Christianity has lost the cultural war. Christians are an inch way from prison terms for not cooperating with sodomists.

Here is how I compare the 1950's with now, as I see it:
In the 1950's in some states the Bible was read by law in the schools every day. In Georgia the students took turns reading a passage each morning. The culture was professed Christian many places, but there were not many actually saved. The populace endorsed Christ & the Bible in general, but they were dead spiritually by vast majority, even if they went to church. There were not many Christian radio stations, no Christian TV, Christian music was mostly a choice between classical sacred and the old hymnal.

Since that time, Christian radio has flourished, Christian publishing has flourished, Bible study has undergone great advancement with programs like Accordance & Logos. Christian contemporary music has produced really great praise music. The Christians are more identifiable, believers vs unbelieving humanists.

IMHO, we live in the overlap of the Philadelphia Era (Open door for evangelism) and the Laodicean lukewarm, Christ on the outside knocking to get in era, of dead Christendom.

My guess is that the Rapture will happen soon and the USA will be destroyed as when Lot left Sodom. But who knows the plans of the Lord & His timing?

Does anyone realize that the Clinton era was an era of Southern Baptists in charge; yes, both Clinton & Al Gore, southern baptists (I believe)? But the Southern Baptists are hardly a unified fundamentalist denomination. But what is the religion now of our leaders???

Christ said that it would be difficult for the wealthy to be saved. Christianity is flourishing in third world areas like Africa and Latin America but it's declining in wealthy, comfortable Western countries. When people become overly materialistic and comfortable they start relying upon themselves instead of God.

if you want traditional families then we need to go back to when it was ok to have seven wives and 40 concubines. wake up look at what your saying

i suggest you read this. im not going to argue about this most christans are like a brick wall and just as dense

Why Christians Need to Quit Whining About 'Freedom of Religion'

Huffington Post...now there's a bastion of truth.

christianity is flourishing here in china but i'm not really sure how "christian" it is. i have had young chinese tell me that when they went to christian churches here they were immediately surrounded by surrounded by a prayer meeting and told that if they didnt become christian they would be tortured forever in hell like all of their ancestors.but if they did then god would love them and they would become rich. i guess it could be a good pitch to someone born into a fundamentalist american christian culture but they thought it was funny. it can be pretty hard for a suffering servant with no place to lay his head to compete with that i guess.

Maybe what the young people you encountered were experiencing was the new China version of Christianity.

im not trying to push anything am i not allowed to state my views because not all christians believe the way i do? its impossible to please you people unless i conform into your little boxes. i am going to say this im a follower of christ the truth not a follower of a religion that has been twisted from its original form ie modern christianity. if you cant cooperate with the sinners and reach them on their level then you will never get them. thats the exact reason why alot of nonbelievers go to church once and never come back you christians for some reason have this holier than thou attitud. i reach them on their level because i once in poverty i was once lost and without hope untill someone tried to reach me on my level and succeded you all are to militant in your views ready to vight anytime anyone disagrees. i dont understand why your like this. christ want like that.

Kenneth, it's OK to admit when you're wrong. Try it sometime. Read: Section 6: Religion and Social Values | Pew Research Center for the People and the Press

"The proportion of Democrats saying they never doubt God’s existence has fallen 11 points over the past decade. Among white Democrats, the decline has been 17 points – from 85% in 2002 to 68% currently.

By contrast, conservative and moderate Democrats continue to overwhelmingly say they never doubt God’s existence (91% in 1987, 86% today)."

No political party has a monopoly on God and were Jesus to come back tomorrow, I'm sure that all of us, whatever our beliefs may be, would fall well short of the perfect standard he’d set. That being said, it's time for the Left to stop having it both ways: spewing hatred at Christians while persecuting people who take the Bible seriously and then claiming to be friendly to people of faith. One only look at the public stage of leftist pundits to see exactly what I'm talking about: a genuine thoughtful Christian is as rare as bigfoot amongst the Bill Maher's that comprise the public face of the left.

Yes, the neo-conservatives that dominate the Republican party are war mongering pretend-fiscal-conservatives. That's true and why I'm not a Republican. But let's not act like them and pretend that the left isn't chalk full of God hating, Christian mocking, immoral people that want to use government as a tool against Christianity and genuine Christians whose beliefs and behavior align with a historical, orthodox, and correct exegesis of Christian epistemology for that would be an act of self-deceit in the face of observational refutation.

Go on and keep believing the bias polls.
