I agree with the thought that its not the name of the church but the Jesus there. I will go to any church where I feel that the focus is on God. So if in TN, I may grab a tambourine and should His praise. in my church my hands are the tambourines but we are stil praising Him. I just refuse to believe that wherever a pastor is dropping the f bomb, God is in the midst. I wont date a man who attends a church like that because he is likely under a teaching that conflicts with everything I believe and follow. With the thought that the man is the leader of the household, its a waste of time to embrace a Bozo instead of Boaz.
I'll wait...

I usually hit the 9:30am class, the 10:30am service and the 5:00pm service. I'll actually be on a Bible class family retreat this Sunday (see " I like the sound of...." under Misc.) but I'll save you a seat next week. I'd invite you to Wednesday night, but I go to the Men's Class that night... might be awkward for you to sit in on that one, lol.

But I broke up with her because I assumed she couldn't commit to anything. She also refused to write out an official doctrinal statement about why I am so awesome!!! (Was that too much for me to ask for???).

Take this as a friendly jab - why is it denominations that are anti-creedal (they would never recite the Nicene Creed because it is "the work of man" and they proclaim "our only creed is the Bible") - why is it they might be against using an ancient creed that sums up orthodoxy but they will issue endless doctrinal statements about everything under the sun?

I know couples where he goes to one church and she goes to another. I think this works where the denominations are similar - they each have a lot of beliefs that overlap so they mostly share a common "language" when talking about beliefs. I don't see it working out well if the two parties have radically different beliefs - anything is possible but it would be difficult.

I have been anything from "friend zoned" to rudely dismissed because of differences in beliefs. There are a lot of fault lines - not just between Catholics and Protestants but between Protestants.

I dunno about the whole "work of man" stuff - Paul's writing was the work of a man and it's pretty inspiring, illuminating and downright useful - but I wouldn't recite the Nicene Creed because I'm a pentecostal and that creed is definitely trinitarian.

In the spirit of Descyple's posts though...
I'm a pentecostal and I went out with a trinitarian girl, but I found out she had three different personalities so I had to break up with her, and break up with her, and break up with her. :rolleyes:

Two denominations will become one on November 27th, 2014 - Who said a Catholic and a Seventh-Day-Adventist couldn't get along? Was not me....tourist and I will be heading to Las Vegas on November 25th wedded on November 27th any CC member out there in Nevada willing to marry us? Preacher, Justice of the Peace? That is the only thing left on the list....We only need you for 10 -15 minutes on Thanksgiving Day to have us say I Do and say a prayer that is enough of a service for me and tourist agrees. If anyone interested please PM me this is not a joke I am serious....cereally... The Blond in search of person that performs licensed weddings/marriages.

P.S. If it helps we have completed pre-marriage counseling and passed with flying colors and a certificate to ease your mind.

I know a Pentecostal who believes in the Trinity. ;) They're not rare.

Colorado can be easier for getting married, no officiant required. Literally a couple can go get a marriage license and both persons sign off as the officiant and hand it back in.

I'm a Baptist, and I once dated a non-Baptist.

But I broke up with her after I had a committee meeting with other Baptists (which included a delightful picnic) and everyone voted that the relationship should end.

The vote was 22-1 in favour of the breakup. The one person who voted for me to stay with her - he didn't get to eat any of the delicious bacon-stuffed egg rolls or the dessert which was peanut-butter and chicken-wing flavoured cupcakes!!!

Morale of the story??? - Don't ever go against "THE COMMITTEE"

When my parents met my mom was a baptist and my dad was a devoted Catholic. My dad end up transitioning into the baptist church before they got married. I think it is important to have the same faith so not as to confuse your children in the future.:) I wouldn't mind dating someone outside my denomination as long as he is a Bible believing Christian and we agree in the same doctrines. :)

Oh man. It's hard enough trying to find a decent guy who is a Christian. If I limited my options by the "right" denomination (who even knows what that looks like) there would be nobody left!

Personally I don't really care what denomination somebody is. I don't define my denomination, only state that I follow Christ and that is that. I wouldn't think it would be very fair for a man who is say, Pentecostal or Charismatic, to look at me like I wasn't worth the effort because I don't attend the same church as him or label myself as such. I love the Lord with all my heart and if that isn't enough for somebody then I feel sad for them.

Let's not forget that Jesus taught to everybody, even the Samaritans whom the Jews wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. Let go of labels and embrace love as it comes and goes.
