The fact that i can see the "cuteness " of Satan... and you CANT , is probably because you lack discernment and knowledge
That... or maybe, just maybe...
because you're a satanist, idk. :p

No misuse of scripture...we are clearly suppose to reject those who bring false doctrine and we are not suppose to receive them as sincere believers in Christ. If this fellow was here just to learn or whatever, he would not have Identified himself as a "Mormon" ....

2Jo 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 ¶ If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Do you not see though that he is not spreading that doctrine yet, and he even clearly said he was not going to discuss his belief as a Mormon unless somebody asks. All he wants to do is have conversation how we use the scriptures in the bible compared to how he was taught.
There is nothing wrong in that, nor is there any forcing of a false gospel being put on anybody.

If everybody who is enmity to God was turned away because of how they believed, then none of us would be saved because we were all enmity to God at one time or another.

Let the man speak first, and then if he tries forcing his ways on others then what you are doing is fine by pointing out the wrong doing by scripture. But first you have to let him speak to know his agenda, you can not and the bible does not give permission to run them off before they start spreading the false gospel.

What are you going to say when you stand before the Lord, and He says to you why did you send all those people away instead of trying to help them with the truth in My word ?

Lots of you tell me all about your love theory in the New Testament why am I not seeing it being put into practice here? Blond just wondering......

Where ever I go, I let people know my faith, and thoughts that are on my mind. The last gunslinger spoke of where his faith came from and then wanted to have an exchange. MY last statement; That being said, what is it that you would like me to share with you? I am not looking for conversation to be one sided, so, like gunslinger, I got the obvious out of the way first. Is there something more you would like to share with me?

Yeah, there's NOTHING like two decent young guys in shirt and tie
coming to your door wanting to discuss the 'bible' with you

(in a charming american accent.)

(Unlike the JW's who don't really know how to dress well,
and tend to not take care of themselves.)

Really? Granted we have very few Mormons in Australia and many, many Jehovah's Witnesses, but I've still never seen a frumpy JW rock up on my doorstep. They're always dressed to the nines.

Cool, Mormons seem like very friendly people. And as most people, I'm curious about the Mormon faith.

Yeah I've been there done that, with good intentions and straight out with some Mormons I've told them I'm not interested ever in joining their church but lets get to know each other anyway and be friends and they would agree all friendly like but their true motive would always eventually come out in the end.
There are a lot of friendly unbelievers in the world but I'm not interested in atheism.

They're no different then most denominations (who want them to join their church and believe their faith). I wouldn't consider a Mormon an unbeliever, they believe in Jesus and spread the gospel more than the other denominations (JW not included). I'm not interested in their church either, I know a little about the faith, just not the deeper questions you can't really figure out on your own. :)

I personally wouldn't think much of either a Mormon OR anyone of any religion if they did NOT believe in what they follow. Why have we been scorning a man who openly tells us who he is, and what he believes? That's a pretty honest and straightforward way to introduce yourself, IMHO.

Yes, but have you looked at their Jesus and their gospel? It's very different to biblical Christianity. I still love them, but they're not just another Christian 'denomination'.

They believe Jesus is separate from God. And believe your saved by works. Forgiveness is pretty scare. Grace is pretty much unattainable, I think? There gospel isn't particular "good" news....
Maybe the_ last_ gunslinger should make a forum on it. I'm sure there will be PLENTY of replies.
Seriously though, if many other denomination that are worse then this are considered denominations, they can too. It's all about Jesus. The bible says believes and is baptized are saved. Mormons have both.

Goodness, 90+ replies. I didn't imagine my introduction would prove so popular.

MyLighthouse, thank you for the kindness you have thus far exhibited. It is greatly appreciated. Starting a thread on these issues would be interesting, but I don't believe forum rules would allow it. As I said, I am not here to preach my faith, only to learn from mainstream Christians. I'm afraid a thread meant to address Mormon misconceptions might be misconstrued as proselyting.

Oh, i recommend if you want to find out what they are about then the best way to do it is first hand, that's what I did because I didn't want to get another person's evaluation on them but my own. Some of the stuff they came out with was way out there i tell ya, but that's for you to find out yourself :)

Christian denominations all hold to a few basic tenants of the biblical faith, Mormonism doesn't. The Bible says believe. But you have to believe in the one true Jesus, the Son of God (the God/man).

Let's be totally blunt, shall we? Of course you won't 'promulgate your faith or try to convince others' of it's veracity". Why should you? Your version of 'faith' in mormonism means that you did not seek out the true JESUS CHRIST, in which the very word "CHRISTIAN" derived from. You just don't 'find' mormonism or get converted into it. If you read anything about Joseph Smith, you will instantly begin to understand why those that follow the teachings of JESUS CHRIST have a hard time accepting latter day saints (mormonism) as bonafied CHRIST followers, possessing HIS Holy Spirit. When was the last time you discovered that GOD has given you a unique and special spiritual gift for HIS glory? Was it when you layed hands on a person, prayed with them in HIS spirit and they were healed? When did you testify of GOD's Holy SPIRIT moving in your life and won someone to CHRIST? I could go on and on, but you can see that mormons never speak or share CHRIST to the world..in fact, they do the opposite. They keep to themselves, and follow the 'rules' as they are dicatated to or should I say brainwashed into. Oh, of course, being mormon gives you high privilege of having more than one woman to please sexually or to be so open minded as to allow your wife to be used by other mormon men, traditionally. I've never heard of a female mormon asking or seeking several 'husbands' for their own. JESUS is the WORD..and that WORD has nothing to do with golden tablets and Joseph Smith, a yesteryear mystic. What you really need is a holy spirit touch right down to your soul. You will never go back to the mormon cult practice again. The only way your visit here will end up prosperous is if you surrender your mind and heart to JESUS CHRIST and allow HIS Holy Spirit to cleanse you of this clannish, cult. Yes, we can be friends, but in time, my desire for you is for you to become my brother in CHRIST. Joseph Smith did nothing for your salvation, nor did he sacrifice any blood for your redemption.

Do Mormons believe jesus and Lucifer are actual brothers?

and is it because of the the bible references them both as stars and lions?

Maybe it's just the dutch JW's, idk. You can tell from the somewhat odd composition of the group, their clothing and that they always care briefcases and man purses around they're JW's. Anyway... they don't really make me happy.
