the operative idea there is to follow Christ. 1 Corinthians 10 gives the context that Paul means to imitate the way that he lived among them, because he was trying in every way to imitate Christ and live by the spirit.
not to imitate Paul -- but to imitate Christ, just as Paul imitates Christ.
follow Christ, not Paul.
maybe you're missing this point because of your infection with the falsehood of KJV-only-ism, since the KJV doesn't render the Greek word mimētai that is used in 1 Corinthians 11:1 as "imitate" or "be imitators" -- even though this is exactly the word that our English word "imitate" comes from.
i rather think Paul cringes a bit when he hears you say "i follow Paul" over and over again -- i can almost hear him in my ear, saying "follow Christ! not me!" every time.
just my humble opinion
((is this the KJV thread? yes, it is the KJV thread))
cool - so thanks for pointing out 1 Corinthians 11:1 !!
here's a great example of where the KJV is actually inferior to many other English translations, because the sense of "imitate" is lost in it, and seeing the Greek it is overwhelmingly clear that "imitate" is the literal word that should be used here instead of "be followers of" -- which has a much different connotation to us, and is well illustrated by the way you misuse it to set this scripture against 1 Corinthians 3:1-4
i hope your pride doesn't get in the way of you being mutually edified here
