The polls quoted in the OP were from before San Bernardino and before Trump made his remarks about banning Muslims from entering the U.S. The updated polls should be out in a couple days, and may reflect whatever transpires tomorrow night in Las Vegas.
Not that Trump supporters care but he is saying things that he will do that he can't do lawfully. To win over law enforcement types, he pledged to execute anyone convicted of killing a police officer. Sure they applauded him and it made a good sound bite, but there are dozens of states that have outlawed the death penalty. You can't change that, even as President. He says he will win the Hispanic vote. Then why do 79% of Hispanics say they will not support him? Blacks don't like him either, according to polls. But he has that white redneck vote sewed up. Still, if all he accomplished was to build his wall / fence, it would be a huge accomplishment. And we know he would absolutely bomb the bad guys in the Middle East. But he would never once mention God or abortion or gay marriage. We know he'd be 100x better than Hillary. But, Rubio and Cruz are actual Christians that seem qualified for the job and Rubio is polling better against Hillary than any of the Republican candidates. I think in about 90 days, we should get a better picture of who is making the best impression with conservative voters.
