The Moody Blues - You And Me

There's a leafless tree in Asia
Under the sun there's a homeless man
There's a forest fire in the valley
Where the story all began

What will be our last thought?
Do you think it's coming soon?
Will it be a comfort
Or the pain of a burning wound?

All we are trying to say
Is we are all we've got
You and me just cannot fail
If we never, never stop

You're an ocean full of faces
And you know that we believe
We're just a wave that drifts around you
Singing all our hopes and dreams
We look around in wonder
At the work that has been done
By the visions of our father
Touched by his loving son

All we are trying to say
Is we are all we've got
You and me just cannot fail
If we never, never stop
All we are trying to say
Is we are all we've got
You and me just cannot fail
If we never, never stop
You and me just cannot fail
If we never, ever, never, ever stop...

Im glad you have happy memories connected to Camelot. Personally I thought it was one of the worst musicals I have ever seen, although I liked the songs. Other film versions of musicals on my hate list include The sound of music, and
Carasel. Two of my favorites are West Side Story, (I fell in love with Natalie Wood), and South Pacific.
I loved The Sound of Music.

Ticket prices were reasonable. :p

I bet there were a lot of biffed people when the declared Woodstock to be a free concert after they had paid for tickets. They didn't have much choice people started tearing the fences down and walking into the concert over them.

I have been a fan of Buddy Holly since I first heard an Album of his hits age around 15. I collected just about every track he recorded,(over 100). His influence on Rock Music was amazing considering his fame only lasted about two years. It was such a pity he died so young only 22. I wonder how his career would have developed had he lived.
Buddy Holly was supposedly a strong influencing factor on Fleetwood Mac's Kiln House LP,
which I posted a song from a few posts/pages ago (
#386)... here is another from that LP:

that's funny.... "I've Got a Secret"...... my dad and I got to go to a filming of that game show WAY back when. He took me with him on a trip to NYC for a real estate convention, and that was one of the things we did. I can't remember who the "contestant" was, or what their secret was, but I remember enjoying it a lot. I was probably about 7 or 8 years old..

Please, I'm trying to keep this thread on track , don't derail it with TV shows. Late 50's, 60's and early 70's if you can. I have posted some that are late 70's and early 80's, if you just must that is fine. Peace man

Donovan opened up for Yes when I saw them in 1977. Heh, he also sang with Alice Cooper
on Billion Dollar Babies. This song is originally from 1965, the first song he released.

Donovan - Catch the Wind

In the chilly hours and minutes
Of uncertainty, I want to be
In the warm hold of your loving mind

To feel you all around me
And to take your hand along the sand
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind

When sundown pales the sky
I want to hide a while behind your smile
And everywhere I'd look your eyes I'd find

For me to love you now
Would be the sweetest thing 'twould make me sing
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind

Di di di di, di di di di
Di di di di, di di di di
Di di di

When rain has hung the leaves with tears
I want you near to kill my fears
To help me to leave all my blues behind

For standin' in your heart
Is where I want to be and long to be
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind

Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind

This band's debut LP was released in the summer of 1975. It was a staple for jamming to :)

Heart - Dreamboat Annie

Heading out this morning into the sun
Riding on the diamond waves, little darlin' one

Warm wind caress her
Her lover it seems

Oh, Annie
Dreamboat Annie, ship of dreams
Oh, Annie
Dreamboat Annie, little ship of dreams

Going down the city sidewalk alone in the crowd
No one knows the lonely one whose head's in the clouds

Sad faces painted over with those magazine smiles
Heading out to somewhere won't be back for a while

Here is another great one (um, actually they all are ;)) from Kiln House :)
Christine McVee (nee Perfect) was not an official member
yet, but it is her art work that graces the cover of the LP.

Fleetwood Mac -
Jewel Eyed Judy

Moonshine time
Thoughts of you
Spinning round
As thoughts do
I just wondered if
Your eyes still shine
As they did
When you were mine

I can see
In a dream
Thougts so clear
And jewels that gleam
Would your eyes
Still sparkle then
If we were, once again

Jewel eyed Judy please come home
Jewel eyed Judy don't leave me alone
Jewel eyed Judy please come home
Jewel eyedJudy don't leave me alone

Lovely Judy
Can you see
Where it is
You're meant to be
Where you lay
Your head tonight
May the stars
Find your light

So am I
Sitting here
Moonlight glistens
On my tears
Is this all
That we could find
Chains of memories
Left behind

Jewel eyed Judy please come home
Jewel eyed Judy don't leave me alone
Jewel eyed Judy please come home
Jewel eyedJudy don't leave me alone

Great choice of songs, Dan! Wow, those Smothers Brothers were something else LOL. Loved their show... and the psychedelic treatment they gave the Airplane was far out, man! :) I listened to Red Octopus (from 1975) an awful lot, and still have it in my collection despite severely paring down:

Jefferson Starship - Fast Buck Freddie

He said,"Hold a dollar bill up to the mirror
And I'll show you something funny
It's only a fast buck, but
It's so hard to make that kind of money"

Now it's hard to get serious
When the joker is laughing
And by now the joker is wild

It's hard to keep laughing
When a rich man's reflection
Looks like a gun that's gonna smile

What's going on? I ask you
What's going on? Can you see?
What's going on? I ask you then
Who's coming on? Is it you or me?

Coming on while it's still soft and warm
Burn it dry before the fiery storm
Sing it now while you still have a song
Grab on now while you're still feeling strong

How long, how long would you like it?
How long, how long will it be?
How long, how long can we take it?
How long before we take it back?
You and me, think fast

I was thinking that I should be singing along
Think fast I think he's coming through
Think fast, he thinks he's running you

I was thinking that I should be singing along
Think fast, he thinks he's coming in
Think fast, I think he's wearing thin

I was thinking that I should be singing along
Think fast, he's taking all your time
Think fast, you know he's out of line

But who cares
You know you can
You will, you know you can

Sing it now while you still
Sing it now while you still
Sing it now while you still have a song

My second oldest brother was really into Bob Dylan :) I bought In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida when I was thirteen, but I cannot remember if I had already purchased the Everly Brothers at that point or not... maybe I had... and I was also listening to the music of David McCallum, he of The Man From Uncle fame. He wrote/conducted symphonic music, and instrumentally interpreted modern hits as well. I was working with my dad and my brothers every weekend from the time I was eight, so had a small income from that, and bought a lot of 45 RPMs before taking the final irrevocable leap to LPs :) Here is one of David McCallum's better known pieces (haha I just realized it has the same name as one of my fave guitarists!):

David McCallum- The Edge

Hmm, wasn't all that bad. It's hard to put this and Ducky from NCIS together.

Check you guys later, just wanted to come and get caught up with posts. I had to fight heavy traffic today to take my Toy Poodle to an opthamologist. She has a lot of tear stain, just wanted to make sure it was just a cosmetic problem. Thank goodness he said he didn't see anything wrong. I'm happy, happy, happy about that!

Gosh, magenta, Even the minstrel song? you skip right right over me with the like button before and after, but not the minstrel song ? What, because I put it there? This hatred that came from no where is getting so blatant, how can you continue every day posting about love and good times, and just keep ignoring me, when 2 months ago we were talking words of love. This isn't bothering you even a little?! You dump me cold for no good reason, and have absolutely no love in your heart, no christian reconciliation, you just keep treating me like an insignifigant nothing and talk all this love stuff at the same time, and you don't see anything wrong with that?! Who treats peopke like this?! The only gripe was I talk in public?! Well, duh, you ignore every opportunity to discuss things in private...you know I'm right here seeing all theses posts...why did you trash our friendship, and why do you keep talking like you're so into all this love and peace all the while ttreating me like a piece of crap. We shared all this stuff, I shared more with you than anyone I know, and you took me and stomped me down and continue to do so, and as a christian, and supposedly you are, too, I would like to know why. I've tried everything I can to communicate withnyou and find out why you continue to treat me like this. Does love only count when you're talking about it online, but when someone is trying to show it to you over and over, suddenly it means nothing to you?! Why, magenta, why? :(The
Minstrel Song? Everywhere, love is all around? HELLO?
