The reason why I side with British "secessionists" is two-fold.

1. The EU system was originally contrived to be a modern Holy Roman Empire. At least in it's early days.

Territoriality, culturally, structurally, etc Britain already advanced far beyond the point of need for this sort of thing. Sure, the Empire had decayed, but it seems that Britain would have then been more suited (and the world would have been better off with) a supra-national organization of it's own in London. A more robust Commonwealth of Nations.

2. It could be because I'm a rebel colonist, but when a governing body you have nothing but tangential access to declares your nation should have x immigration law or the curvature of bananas, separation is a moral imperative.

The fact is the EU is more than EU apologists say it is. It's more than a system of trade relations, but a true governing entity in it's own right. That can work for some who had to rebuild after WWII, but the still Great Britain with her Parliament of Parliaments was bound to chafe and kick away.

This shouldn't be at all surprising.

Why is that a good thing you're not negotiating? Seems like a good reason for you to be the negotiator.

Personally, I'd just cut the ties without negotiating. Again, what can anyone do to you if you just walk? Not trade? Well, okay. That leaves the other 150+ countries you can trade with. I think I might miss olive oil for a while, but I know some industrious person will black market olive oil in England, if need be. I'm not sure if BP is as big in Europe as it is here, however, if it is, I think petrol is a good reason to not embargo the olive oil.

Frankly, we're from the country who left England because we didn't like that trade deal either. And that's how coffee, chicory, and rum won out on tea!

Seriously, what happens if y'all just walk, instead of negotiate? What I really imagine is they return to the table as the beggar instead of thinking they're the king.
Personally I couldn't live without the tea! :p ;)

Hey bro, don't complicate politics with religious words, (secessionists, Holy, apologists),
its complicated enough trying to work out what the EU are trying to say at the best of times,
without including religious words that I don't know the meaning off. :p

Lemme see if I understand correctly

secessionists = stop
holy =set apart
apologist = saying sorry when your not

Humm actually maybe they fit perfectly. :D

Pretty much on the money.

Though I don't think the HRE was ever truly "set apart" :p

But don't you get it? The EU have to set an example, so no-one else follows suite. And we have a stupid moronic Conservative government who are doing the deal so it is going to be bad. Who did you vote for?

God told me who to vote for, as he did anyone with a heart in this heartless selfish country that wants to blame immigration on it's problems. Of course that is because people are easily deluded by fear.

Do you know how much money is thought to be stored in offshore tax havens? £20 trillion. Imagine what we could do with just £1 trillion. When you have a government that puts profits first, you have a declining rate of living standards, of 'free' services (they would prefer people die from not having medical insurance like in the USA), and you get Grenfell Tower, and also, which has been proved statistically, more terrorism under a Tory government.

I love my country, I don't want it to be taken over by elites to the point of no return, like America. No-one has a choice who to vote for in America, they are always the same, they put profits first. Profits and war, and even American people, many of those here, have bloodlust for war and violence, which is pretty apparent by their 'need' for gun rights rather than God being the weapon they carry, and the brutality of their police is a symptom of that.
We've heard of your string of terrorists attacks lately. Has the story unfolded yet? Were all those IDIOTS domestic terrorists? "String of terrorists attacks." Doesn't that hint your borders need shoring up? 911 was our wake up call. I thought the Tube was yours, but looked what happened after that attack. More came!

Tell me, what percentage was domestic terrorists compared to imported terrorists? To tell you the truth, our domestic terrorists tend to be Islamic too. They're not merely sneaking into the country, the ones over there are recruiting through the Internet too.

Immigrants aren't a problem because immigration involves vetting who is invited. You have the same problem we have. People call them "immigrants" when they're not! The term is "illegal alien!" If we stop PCing the words, then maybe we can talk clearer.

(BTW, as an American, I think what you think. I don't want your version of elites taking over my country either. America is behind the times compared to Europe. One of the things I love about America. I just don't want to catch up to y'all. Matter of fact, I keep hoping we go further and further behind the times. You know why we love our guns? Because people are far less likely to kill someone with a gun than from someone without a gun. The killers simply don't know which of us holds the gun. We just had a senator shot by a man with a gun. If there weren't others with guns, there would have been a death toll. So, hurrah for your elitist attitude, Bub!

Folks have a look at page 16/17 of this, from the official EU audit.

http://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/SN06455/SN06455.pdf

It shows how much each country puts in financially and how much
each country takes out. You will see that 5 countries put in the most with
Germany the first followed by the UK second. Although the UK takes out less
than Germany so net, the Uk is not that far of Germany's contribution.

Everyone else takes out more than they put in. That's why everyone is
scared of the UK leaving. Who will pick up the bill when the UK has gone, not
to mention pay for everyone's health care and benefits.
Which countries will get ripped off next? Take a guess it's the one protesting the most,
Germany and France. No wonder they are protesting.

Trade deals in the EU don't mean zilch when you are paying out more than you are getting
back.
Well, no wonder Merkel is freaking! I don't blame her. How much more does Germany have to pay when the UK leaves.

And no wonder the Czech Republic is freaking. They only get benefits, not debt!

Thanks. Now I see the problem. Same problem we have with our federal budget. The poor expect the rich to take care of them, and the rich fear losing other rich or they get the bigger share, until they stop being the rich.

The European Courts of Human Rights is the most abused system in Europe, it was set up with the best of intentions but has been abused and used for all the wrong reasons...another beast we could not tame.
More or less than the UN?

Pretty much how it is here too, they get radicalised either online or we allow them back into the country when they've been to one of these "training camps" elsewhere.

Bahahahaha.

The same could be said of nearly every government boondoggle ever contrived. The older I get the more unimpressed I am with intentions.

More or less than the UN?

America is an amalgamation of diverse cultures melding into one, with it's roots deeply entrenched in Judeo-Christian values.
E. Pluribus unum. Look it up. That's the primary reason we don't want most muslim refugees or immigrants. THEY DO NOT WANT TO ASSIMILATE INTO OUR CULTURE!!

Your ignorance is astounding, yet understandable in regards to "black quarters". Understandable because most of Europe is fed ONLY state media, and any diversion from that is hounded down under the HUGE fascist umbrella term of "hate speech".

America and Britain has saved your continent TWICE in the last century from Orwellian dictatorship with blood and treasure. We have spent untold billions defending your continent with scant economic help from you, from Soviet/Russian aggression, for 65+ yrs, enabling funds for you to enact your utopian socialist dream. (really a nightmare). Where the heck is your gratitude!?

So don't tell me we don't have a stake or say in what goes on in your continent. It's like a teen son saying "Let me live my life MY WAY, and oh by the way, can you give me $100 bucks and lend me the car?"

Pretty insulting huh?

And yet ALL of this has nothing to do with fair trade agreements!
Does that mean I shouldn't ask you for $100 and the car?

Actually, I'm pro immigrants. Boy, this town would be boring without immigrants. The ones I don't want are the illegal aliens. (And darn annoyed they made this city into a sanctuary city for criminals.)

BTW, Trof is from the Czech Republic. We didn't help him at all in the World Wars.

The issues here are clouded. The real issue is we want our country back. The immigration and terrorism has nothing to do with it.
If you want to know what has caused the mass immigration, find the route cause. Find the truth about why the west went against Gadaffi and Saddam. Both leaders made the mistake of daring to use gold as their currency so they could avoid oil transactions in us dollars which had been crippling their economies and robbing them of their countries hard earned profits which God had put into the ground as a blessing for them. What did the USA government do and drag NATO countries to assist them? Start wars killing millions of people and causing large amounts of people to flee. You think the immigration is from greedy individuals who come to the west trying to aim for the high life or a race of Muslims trying to take over the west? Terrorism itself has been caused by a deep down anger of watching their friends and relatives killed and their homes destroyed from (How they see it) the Christian west.
Our press keep harping on about terrorism and immigration to divert what the west has done to the people there.
Did I vote for Brexit? I sure did but it has nothing whatsoever to do with immigration. To votes on immigration issues is to turn a blind eye to those in desperate need, and to deny the origins of our ancestors, most of whom who were immigrants themselves!

I totally agree fully that we need to pull out of the EU as the EU had certainly constricted our workforce and industry and prevented all possibilities of the UK prospering. Its rule is one of suppression. The UK never had the chance to vote on if we wanted to join the EU in the first place when our Labour party signed up to it. (Just because they were elected in didn't mean those who voted for them were voting to join the EU as those that voted for labour would certainly be split between the two viewpoints).
Technically on two points us joining the EU to begin with were void as the public were not given the chance to decide the future of their country and the magna carter prevents the UK from being ruled from outside its shores.

If you need $100 bucks and the car I'm sure we can swing it!

I am also very pro immigrant. Heck, my mom's mom came from Ireland via Canada! LEGAL immigration, with those that DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE AMERICA I'm all for.

Just wanted to say, that I have absolutely no problem with people from EU
countries coming to the UK for the right reasons.

Its why we need to get out of the EU, so that imigrants from any nation come for
the right reasons. We should be able to police our own borders, but the EU
does not let member states do that, so people come for all the wrong reasons too.

I just wanted to add this because I'm not racist or biased against any countries but a line
has to be drawn when it is blatant for all to see, that a significant number of EU
migrants come with dishonourable motives.

If people had more respect for countries they go to and if the EU had common sense
legislation, we would not be in this position, Brexit would not have happened.

I would also say the same of Brits who go abroad, they should behave themselves too
and other countries should have the right to throw any UK migrants out who misbehave
or don't respect the country they go to and who try to play the system.
Speaking as an American, got to say I've never met a Brit who didn't behave themselves... or didn't pay for the damage after not behaving themselves. (I'm thinking of The Who and the Rolling Stones when they were young and got rowdy in hotel rooms. Big mess, but they always paid for the clean up. lol)

Yup. Kind of figured that's how it works all over. They found one domestic terrorist in our city (before she did anything stupid), who wasn't recruited. So, it's possible to be home-grown without recruiting, but so far all who did accomplish their missions were recruited.
