Another reason I often don't include scripture is that by the time I find a thread it's usually already pages long. Everything I would quote has already been quoted several times, so would anyone really change their mind by my parroting it yet again?

You're not wrong, you're absolutely right. You can find a scripture to back up just about any cockamamie idea you conjure up. Our beliefs have to conform to scripture, not the other way around. And a lot get that confused. But even those who go at it with an open mind come up with different ideas.
Well, some of US are very slow to learn!

This is not true.

I use Bing to copy and paste.
How else?
Type it.?

I still have to know the Bible well enough to know what verse I want...

The only problem I have with the internet is that some are learning their faith from there instead of
accredited universities or mainline denominations.

On the internet , anyone could write anything.

How does one avoid this developing in the heart?
Because it is God who does make our heart soft trust in the Lord and lean not on ones own understanding. I offer 2 verses

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Phi 4:6

Passes all understanding as a imputed righteousness

Having made our anxieties made known It is the Spirit of Christ in us that gives us peace it surpasses all understanding

It the work of His Spirit as Emanuel works with our new spirit ,new heart we have received as it works in us to both will (the direction) and do (by acknowledging it was not of our own selves)

It is the free will of a Christian to do the will of another as Christ set the example.
That spiritual food the daily bread of His will is the kind of food of God that the disciples knew not of.. When they disagreed or would not believe Jesus as in unbelief. They would lok for a new source of faith and play “Who is the greatest”. We therefore as imputed righteousness work out (not for to gain) His will having make our burden lighter. His yoke make makes it easier

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Do all things without murmurings and disputings:. Phi 2:12

Does anyone have a scripture that would coincide with this thread? Otherwise...it too is going to go down in flames.
2 Corinthians 2:10-11
what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, I did it for your sakes in the presence of Christ,
11so that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.

Okay, so only some are not ignorant of his schemes, lol.

(I couldn't remember where this was in the Bible so I Googled it......and then I cut and pasted it because I'm lazy.)

As long as we remember the importance of forgiveness we can overcome it.
You hit it right on the head.

We offend, we get offended, and we let it fester and we hold grudges.

It's fun isn't it, lol!

(Kidding, of course.)

1 Peter 4:8 NIV
...love covers over a multitude of sins.

Mr. Hart, thank you for providing Scripture.
