Luk 10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
Luk 10:39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
Luk 10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
Luk 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
Luk 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Mary chose that needful, and good part, which represents having a relationship with Jesus.
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Some people did not have a relationship with Jesus.
2Ti 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
2Ti 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
But we learn the truth about God,and what He requires of us,and how to live our life, and salvation, through the word of God,to have a relationship with Him.
But if a person does not have a relationship with God,then studying the Bible is not going to save them, unless they come to the truth by reading the Bible.
Which some do not come to that truth, for they have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, for they could not understand what God required of them, and that is to be led of the Spirit, but they wanted to be somewhat fleshy, not giving it all to all up.
Like Jesus said any person having put their hand to the plow looking back is not fit for the kingdom of God.
So is having a relationship with God better than studying the word of God,but we cannot have a relationship with God unless we read the word of God to know the truth.
If we do not have a relationship with God we are not saved, but we have to study the word of God to be approved of God,and the scriptures are able to make us wise unto salvation.
Both are important, and which came first the chicken or the egg,of course the chicken.
