Whaaa? No way. I spoke clearly, and in English. Or at least, I thought I did. Didn't think I was speaking Yiddish. I got what you said just fine, I think you said it just right.
Thank you :)

Not really. My post was intended for others so they would not be duped by your claim that you can't be a Calvinist because you've never read Calvin. Let there be no mistake:

REFORMED = CALVINISM
not so fast.
i am more in the Lutheran Tradition.
Calvinism just one branch of Reformed.
but i'd take calvin over arminius anyday.

crossfire:
could you summarize your own doctrines/traditions if possible.

this is me:

Reformed
Covenant
Amillennial
Cessationist

ummm no.... one is a theology, the other is an individual person and his set of beliefs. its like saying Catholic = Pope,

sides we have alot of different denominations that hold to some reform theology but not all in the denomination are reformed.

for example: reformed Baptist, reformed Lutheran

Missionary Baptist, Missionary Pentecostal, Free-will Baptist, Southern Baptist

etc. to say reform = Calvinism is a false premise.

why not converse with a person instead of sticking a label on them and trying to jam them in a box.

that is what most people who follow Christ should do...

the whole concept of "free" anything is false.

its not free you have a choice follow GOD or be enslaved to sin and the world.

the Freedom found in following God is much more then the shiny baubles the world offers.
That's new. Every 'Reformed Church' member I have ever met have always professed Calvinism to a certain degree (points).

Although I would agree that Calvinism does not consume the entirety of the historical, genuine reformation nor should it. Wycliffe, Hus, Luther and Arminius played an equal role despite attempts by Calvinists to rewrite (distort) history.

Oh and I read whole sections of each and every thing you gave me, Cobus, using the New American Standard Bible (NASB).
One thing that amazes me is that it is easy to believe one will continue to sin, but almost impossible for one to believe one cannot stop sinning. If that is the case, then surely, Satan has blinded many peoples minds and hearts.

If it is impossible, then what will does any man have? If one says they cannot stop sinning, then they are a testimony to themselves that they don't have control over their own actions and deeds, and if that is the case, then Satan is the one controlling them.

When the Holy Spirit is in control, he does not lead one to sin. Never. It is quite awkward to hear Christians who just can't stop sinning. But then I know Jesus doesn't sin, so these Christians shouldn't be going around talking about they are filled with the Holy Ghost, because then they call the Holy Ghost a sinner.

Slaves return to slavery, but free men walk in freedom.

May Jesus bless you.

Truth is not in translation it is in Jesus Christ, and obedience to him.

May Jesus bless you.

Good post Cobus. The key to it all is your last sentence. There is no way that we can accomplish anything on our own. It must come from God. The only thing we can do is position ourselves to receive from God. That's where consecration comes in.

We can not earn salvation. It is a free gift for those who take Christ at his word, repent of their sinfulness and turn away from a lifestyle of sin and selfishness. Will we make mistakes? Absolutely. However, God is faithful to forgive those who repent of those mistakes and continue to follow him at his word.

When we take God at his word and set ourselves to live accordingly, that is saving faith. It is at that moment when God recognizes our faith, receives us as sons and daughters, then clothes us in the righteousness of Christ (imputed righteousness) for believing in Jesus and not the law or our own works.

God does not expect us to work our way into heaven. All he asks is that we believe in the Son, abide in his word and walk in faith... real saving faith.

Take care and God bless my brother!

no one needs to repent of mistakes.

i see Wesley's footprints......

why are you misleading Cobus (who you may not have noticed needs handling with care on this matter)

if you can't call it sin, and tell cobus that we will still sin at times as a believer, you ARE NOT HELPING HIM YOU ARE HURTING HIM.

better tell Cobus the truth. he's rather shakey, if you didn't know.

he needs TRUTH.

Cobus, John, the Apostle Jesus loved said if we (he included himself) say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves (we lie to ourselves, we can become deluded by this) and he said if we say we have no sin THE TRUTH IS NOT IN US.

keep that in mind Cobus.

hi lil
*sigh*
some here will find one automatically suspect for referencing scripture too much: apparently it means one isn't hearing from the Spirit; walking in the Spirit; 100% obedient to the Lord; or possibly not saved, being an idolator who worships the dead letter....i think that's how it goes:rolleyes:

remember too: "apparently no intelligent people are christians" or something like that.
so try not to flaunt any "head knowledge"....i think that means you'd have a religious spirit, possibly even Jezebel.

lol.

With much patience, as much as the Lord has given me, I have borne it. Now, let the Lord be my judge, and let him judge me, but the mess you have been putting in has been tolerated too long. It was for your sake, not for mine, nor for another's sake. But when I see this wickedness causing offense to others, and I have seen it, and the Lord is witness with me, there is a limit. Now, in front of everyone, let's call this into the open, so that no one can glory privately.

If the Lord will even permit you to speak in his name again, I am a liar. Yet, I pray he gives you room to repent, before that time. And let everyone here bear it as a witness then. I will bear the shame for it. Let me be a liar, and let God be true. It has been tolerated too long. We will see, as every eye will see, when every tongue will confess it.

If you continue in this way, let everyone witness it, you will not continue in it for long.

Indeed, the Lord is merciful, he knows all things, he bears all things. Perhaps he will grant you time to repent of it.

I will not mention this again either. Mark today as a witness.

Cain (our perception of evil)

Abel (our perception of good)

Seth (Jesus's Linage and us made in the image of the Creator)

Choose ye this day whom you will serve. As for me and my house we will serve Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus truly is Lord of all Heaven and Earth!

I sense an antinomian...

It explains a lot. I can see why you like to provoke others and arguing.

Anyways, have a good evening.
