A lot of times in Bible history we have to lean towards archeology to support historical information. The Epoch of Gilgamesh is about as early a writing as mankind knows of, which tells us again, of the magic baby system. Today the lesson is simply about self control, self denial, avoiding fornication and adultery and murder. Jesus was a magic baby who ended the system of the worship of magic babies, nailing Mithra/Emmanuel to a cross of his own doing.
I think it is proper inquisition to seek a tie to Nimrod and Tamuz but since a lot of evil has been done away with as a part of the Biblical purging of God's Footstool sometimes bible history turns to archeology and reference texts. Hebrew names of Biblical times have been changed to Greek then English. Transliterations of names are common over time. Behaviors or practices sometimes take on names, (e.g."Obama-Care") that might be passed on to others for a time ('the Bush tax cuts' Obama mentions) and in time, take on a new name when someone else comes along (one could imagine "Hillary-Care" , generically, health care and etc). I can't even trace or keep track of the Solstice practices and names around the world be it Santa or Pere Noel, Xmas or Sheng Dan and on and on.
The key to the issue here is the magic baby cult, making them a worldly god or a dead god or an outcast. The story of Jesus is one that many fight off to this day as well, many demanding that there was no Jesus. The idea remains though in the hearts and minds of many, of the teachings written in a new covenant document paid for again and again with blood for the natural law righteousness of self denial, self control, love of others as self, putting off fornication, idolatry, adultery, murder and taking on the precepts of the system of The WAY.
(sorry if the above sounds like a cop out, it sort of is, as I am a bit tired right now).
