I certainly get the hate, Zone, a lot. So this is nothing new for me. But the thing is, I have no reason to hate you, nor to make fun of you. It becomes a thorn in my side whenever you refuse to simply engage in a logical conversation without creating a strife or a personal argument and I just gave in, stupidly. But that is your mind, and you use it well.

For some reason, you feel that you may look down on me because I am less in your mind than you. Your love, or even patience, does not extend to me because I do not believe the same as you. Yet how many denominations are there? You must have many enemies! You show disdain, disgust and contempt for me, the language of hatred, yet I pity that you feel that you must behave in that manner with me, because in all good faith, I think you are someone I might actually be able to have a good conversation with otherwise.

In future, just don't bother replying to me at all, please. It's beginning to grate.

i can't help you with that. you've been shown over and over.

but please leave Christ out of your religion.
can you do that? or take it up with the True Christ.

do you have a suitable explanation for why Jesus didn't go into detail about the Pharisees emerging from the fire later? show me purgatory in Scripture.

Matthew 23:33
"You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?

Mark 9:43
And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire.

asbestos: unquenched, unquenchable
Original Word: ἄσβεστος, ον
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: asbestos
Phonetic Spelling: (as'-bes-tos)
Short Definition: inextinguishable, unquenchable
Definition: inextinguishable, unquenchable.

does He say the fire goes out at some point and ppl emerge from hell/fire?
even if you want to have the fire go out and go for annihilationism, does Jesus here give these men any indication they will enter the Kingdom?

Matthew 23:13
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

anyways.
later
Jesus also says harlots and tax collectors will enter the Kingdom of God before the pharisees ..

do you reckon prostitutes are 'saved', by your standards?

The Kingdom of Heaven is peace, love and joy .

And what the pharisees did was say 'you aren't getting in' .. exactly what you're doing to me.

you are not less than i am.
that's rubbish.

i don't show disdain or hate for you.
you don't have any idea how much i love you.
i don't want to see you believe or teach false doctrine.

but you are not willing to consider that you are distorting the Bible, and teaching a false religion.

if you want a universal religion there are many.

i know the Lord's words offend you.

Matthew 25:46
"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

that's why you have to change Who He is and what He said and did.
you're not alone in that.

but it doesn't make it right.
i do love you.
i had such compassion for you when i first saw you. your heart is compassionate.

but you veered off...i watched it happen.

i still have compassion for you. i want you to be saved.

John 20:31
But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John 20:31
But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
But yet there are billions of 'sinners' (including me) who you believe you will see burned for eternity ..

your words of compassion don't reflect what you believe.

You believe the letter is what saves. Not the God who created it.

You will go to the eternal punishment, by your profession then, just as I will in your mind.

But you still don't see all the counter scripture to 'eternal punishment' as a concept.

The punishments result stands for eternity, but it's not a punishment that is in effect, 'eternal'.

Life beyond comprehension. And punishment beyond comprehension.

The chaff that is burned, is burned. It's ash. it's never coming back. That has an eternal effect. The smoke goes up for eternity means 'it's results are there forever'.

The punishment itself stands eternal.

And both you and I will have a taste of it. Because we're fighting and prideful. Our hearts should be saying 'stop fighting and sit down and eat and drink, for this is man's lot'.

The state of the heart's motives matters more than the letter.

So if you aren't going to agree with me, then don't judge and hate, because as you can see, even the most patient person can break. It just begets judgement and the like. You and I are sinning right now.

you asked me not to reply, but you are continuing the dialogue, so i will reply, if that's alright.

i don't agree with you. universalism is so wrong it's treachery. it's a deadly error.
and to make it work people do violence to the Scriptures. this alone is enough for you to expect resistence and even antagonism after many signs you're in a fringe group not recognized by the church.

that doesn't mean i hate you.

it means you're going to be called on it by all christians except those who claim Christ's Name and believe and teach universalism [at least you should be, if they love you and any who might be following you]. you know this. you know this is unorthodox and rejected by the church.

"Our hearts should be saying 'stop fighting and sit down and eat and drink, for this is man's lot'"?

i will sit and eat with you. and i will not fight with you. but i will never agree with you that universalism is God's Plan - why? He NEVER said it was.

so, though i love you, and though you may not like my posting style...universalism is deadly heresy...if it is your personal philosophy, great. but you know it is not accepted by any branch of christianity.

i do not wish you ill will. but i won't ever agree with you. and won't accept the reckless twisting of God's Word done by universalists.
i've yet to see one change their position...so sooner or later it leads to conflict patient

take care.

It doesn't need to be accepted by a church.

'Where two or more are, then I am there also'. Please do not put me in a group. I do not know what 'universalists' believe. It could be very different to what I'm saying. I don't like to be put into a group. I believe in God and what he says, no more, no less.

And God DOES say that there will be a restitution of ALL things,.

Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all people, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. Romans 5:18

For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may be merciful to all. Romans 11:32

As in Adam all die, in Christ ALL will be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:22

For in him [Christ] all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself ALL things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. Collossians 1:20

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Philippians 2:11

They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you. 5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit. 1 Peter 4:4-6

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the pre-eminence.

19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. Colossians 1:15-20

1 Timothy 2:3-6

God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away”. 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new”. Need more? I have lots more.
no....i know all those. why do you leave out the parts you don't like?
does eternal punishment mean eternal punishment?
how long does it last?

is it sin floating around in the wind like chaff that is eternally punished?
how does God punish sin?

is it sin that goes into the fire? how does sin suffer?
is it an act of adultery which is taken and bound and thrown into outer darkness?
how does an act of adultery weep and gnash it's teeth?

isn't that silly?

Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

what if you don't? what if someone doesn't confess with their mouths and believe in their hearts?

what does saved mean? saved from what?

is God wrathful?

this discussion is perhaps still in line with the OP:

no....i know all those. why do you leave out the parts you don't like?
does eternal punishment mean eternal punishment? The smoke rises for eternity. Read the verses about refinement. About the covenant with Gods enemies. About how he purifies them. About how he then 'remembers their sins no more'.
how long does it last? The results last for eternity. We suffer loss. Hence why it is 'eternal punishment'

is it sin floating around in the wind like chaff that is eternally punished? The chaff and grain are good thought, act, manner, and bad manner. We are refined and purged of our sinful desire. The moke that rises is our testimoney to things that are no longer part of us. Read it all again.
how does God punish sin? On Earth or in heaven? there will be no sin in heaven. You will need refined, just as I will.

is it sin that goes into the fire? We are shown the purposes of our heart, alike toa reflective glass being made clear, as before it was unclear. 'A glass, darkly'.how does sin suffer?Sin does not suffer. The sinner suffers loss of that part of them. Even you will need go through it. For you aren't without the ability to sin. Yet you will realise you NEED to go through it. Hence will accept it.
is it an act of adultery which is taken and bound and thrown into outer darkness? No. We can commit adultery in our hearts and minds. It is our hearts which God looks at, and our minds which must be purified.
how does an act of adultery weep and gnash it's teeth? It doesn't. We do.'God punishes those who he loves'. He's gonna chastise us. Read it all. it's all there.

isn't that silly?

Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

what if you don't? what if someone doesn't confess with their mouths and believe in their hearts?Doesn't some of the script I just posted say that eventually ALL will confess?

what does saved mean? saved from what?Saved from sin, in its entierity. as Ecclesiastes mysterious writings point to; sin is pointless.

is God wrathful?Yes. But he also does not harbour anger forever. Nor will he forever remember the sins of men

God punished all the descendants of Adam, for Adam and Eve's sin, so that he could eventually reconcile all people, from BEGINNING to END, in the same way that he cursed us all. Every time the bible talks of 'the accursed', it speaks of ALL men. Cause that's what we are. Look

For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may be merciful to all.

Because that is fairness. And God is fair.

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely

also

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

1 Corinthains 1
Greeting

1Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes,

2To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:

3Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

[instructions to CHRISTIAN CHURCHES]

Chapter 13 - instructions to the CHRISTIANS at Corinth, who were confused, showing off and misusing the listed miraculous gifts poured out at Pentecost on BELIEVERS for the purpose of equipping; knowing; receiving; organizing and sharing the being-revealed Wonderful Works of God - The Gospel of salvation. The Gospel having the power of salvation for all WHO BELIEVE IN CHRIST, with the Holy Spirit able to make men born again, new men in Christ.

1 Corinthians 13
The Way of Love

1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned,a but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;b 6it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 11When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

13So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

i'll take a little more time.
please exegete from the bible, using chapter & verse references - word for word.
no paraphrasing unless you have first quoted the passage in context and make a clear distinction between your personal interpretation and what the text says.

please show me SIN or FIRE or punishment or Universalism in 1 Corinthians 13 (which is written to a Christian church, the letter then distributed to other Christians, then finally included in the canon of the Christian Bible).

where does it say we will be 'shown the purposes of our hearts' in connection with your assertion that 1 Corinthians 13 is talking about sin being burned off/out of all men (believer or not) before everyone goes into eternity.

just resolve this problem first if you would.

Read all the script I posted. Again, it's all there. Make the connections or make the distinctions for yourself, instead of spending time trying to prove me wrong.

How many times are 'all things' 'restored' and the like mentioned?

Paul says 'to all you people at Corinth, to be saints, grace and peace be upon you'.

It is an opening, a well wishing to those who follow. That does not mean that EVERY piece of content within that letter is solely for the christians and saints at corinth. We are reading it, are we not? So then clearly it is not just for them.

It contains prophecy of what is to come.

The immortal state. The revealing of things not yet revealed.

He tells us what will remain after knowledge ceases, and tongues still, which is faith hope and love. And the greatest is love. Then goes on to explain what happens after we die.

'Let me tell you a secret. We shall not all die, but at the last call of the trumpet, in the twinkling of an eye, we shall all be changed'

The things that you are arguing with are all circumstantial and based on your own interpretation of who Paul is talking to.

But refute the reems of script I posted as 'this is not God talking about restoring all things and making all men pure', then we can get to a real discussion.

no discussion if you can not defend and prove even your assertion that your appropriation of a portion of 1 Cor 13 means universalism.

thank you anyway.

Matthew 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

sabaqtani7 could you please give a commentary on the verse above?

Be afraid of God, for good reason. He CAN destroy both body and soul in hell.
