I'm too afrard i'd regret it if I got one, but if I ever do get one, it would most likely be a simple cross, or a short bible verse

So you think such a design would be effective in your personal witness, then?

If so, why would you anticipate that you would regret it? (Just wondered.)

Blessings.

Isn't it weird how we choose some things as taboo and others not so much? Does not shaving make us holier?

Does not getting a tattoo make us holier?
Well, exactly.

It comes back to the exegetical and doctrinal thing of whether we are really under grace, with 'a better hope' and living for the Gospel, and various forms of witness, rather than for some vision of the law, which has been changed anyway.

Blessings.

"So, what does this mean?"

............

Like, I'm wondering, if it causes someone to ask what the Scripture means, then, hasn't it in a sense been successful?

Blessings.
doesn't a shirt do the same thing?

A shirt may be just great and very suitable, yes.

If there's a faith based design that a Christian is really attached to, s/he doesn't have to keep putting it on and off, etc.

Depends what the person wants, really, and how s/he sees personal witness developing.

Blessings.

Well then, it goes back to ripping out pages. Seriously. Get yourself a Bible that you don't mind tearing up, and whenever you read something in it you don't think applies then rip it out. Then in a year, review just how much of God's eternal word you've discarded. I'll bet you'll be shocked.

I think this whole thing about tattoos illustrates how one's presuppositions can alter the way in which we look at it.
Yeah, you're a perfect example of it.

I think you make the mistake to think that Scripture speaks about one group of people only.

It has been said that all Scripture is for us, but all Scripture is not about us. There is the difference.

Saying that other people should supposedly rip pages from the Bible simply because they don't actually agree with your assumptions, is not a realistic way to put forward ideas.

@JesseClemmons95: Hi Jesse, I see you voted for a faith based design. Do you have any specific ideas yet? Blessings.

How do you mean?

Like, it would be a personal conscience matter, like a lot of things? (Romans 14, etc.)

Blessings.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV) [SUP]19 [/SUP]What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? [SUP]20 [/SUP]For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Now think for a moment......If you were God, would you would like it if someone painted graffiti all over your temple? Or your church bus?

ALWAYS get the Owner's permission.

Better hope like hell that God has the same POV as you, little king "faroukfarouk". But He doesn't. Scripture does not contradict scripture. You might be a king, but you are not the KING. 'ennery the VIII tried the b/s you're trying. Where do you think he is now?; and you are a much lessor king than 'ennery ever was. Paul wrote about the lawless type of man. Gaze in a mirror and you'll see one.
Now don't we feel better after cussing out our remarks?

Actually, not a few Christians who are motivated to get a faith based tattoo useful in witness might well say that they precisely do want to glorify God in their body.

Some Christians would use the same verse that you quote, in favor, actually.

Blessings.

The idea of ripping pages isn't about my beliefs. Rip them out when you don't believe what it says on the page applies to you. I had nothing to do with what was printed on the page. And it's not about putting forth ideas. It's about seeing graphically just how much of God's eternal word you are dismissing as being irrelevant to you.

Well, I do have a beard, but not for supposed reasons of lawkeeping, which is what would be the case if we were really under all the stipulations of Leviticus 19.

So tattoos for convenience? and personal preference?

I'm not judging anything. Lord knows it is more rare for someone NOT to have a tattoo in this day (isn't that a warning in itself?.) It just seems that the reasons not to are biblical and the reasons to are flimsy.

Hope you're having a wonderful day brother :) it's hot down here in Texas lol I'm gonna come visit you okay? just for the summer months! :)
