That is the best answer that I have heard. Thank you. I want to ask a question, if God is all powerful and if he is all loving, why does evil still exist? I mean if God is all powerful he could destroy evil. If he was all living he would. Why is evil still here?
Wow Davy11011
I like you.
First of all why do we have to answer ASAP?
Are you in fear of dying or something?
Is this really that important to you?
WHY do you think about a God you don't even believe exists?

Inquiring minds want to know.

As to evil. Let's see where this thread goes.

Some will do their best to answer why evil exists.
Let me tell you a little secret.
We don't KNOW why evil exists.

Augustine, who had a far greater mind than anyone here, tried to answer this question all his life.
Just before he died, he said that there was no answer and it was unknowable.

So, let's see. According to the wording in your question, God will thus have to NOT be
Omnipotent
OR
All Good.

But He's both. What a quandry!
Maybe THIS thread will give us the answer? LOL

So, it must just be that God just doesn't exist. The simple answer.
Only problem is, there's a bunch of STUFF all around us.

Would YOU be able to tell me where it all comes from?
Scientists seem to be unable to do this.

MAYBE since you came up with such an ORIGINAL QUESTION
YOU could??

I'm here waiting for your reply.

Hey guys,

I am an atheist and would like to debate anyone about God. Please respond ASAP.
I love it. 'Defending' your beliefs. And by 'defending' you mean you show up on this site and issue a challenge to everyone. News flash, it's not defending if you show up someplace everyone will disagree with you and start a confrontation. You are the aggressor, not the defender.

The question has been satisfactorily answered. I am sorry to learn you do not agree with Scripture. I had not realized before how inept Augustine was at understanding Scripture, either. He has quite a following, and apparently you are a fan also.

why does evil exist: because he gave all free will. anything else?
Does darkness exist? no science prooves that its only the absence from light.
Does coldness exist? No its only the scientific absence of heat
evil? evil Is the absence of God

Does anybody here actually know how the Big Bang theory works? If you do it is reducilas. They think that all matter was in one infinitely small particular that contained 3D space. That partial exploded and formed the universe as we know it today. Well for any science geeks out there, density=mass/volume. So if mass= infinity and the volume is zero how does that math work? It doesn't. A number Cannot be divided by zero.
There are multiple big band theories. And they all have been proven invalid as the human/animal/...ect// DNA is not envolving but falling apart. If that theory was right we would have to keep envolving

The OP has already admitted that he is not an atheist. He wanted to see what his fellow Christians would say to these questions so he would have a better idea how to answer for himself in future.

If you read what I have been saying you would know. I am 'testing' my brethren. I want to know what the average Christian and tell an atheist and how they would counter one
Do you typically pretend to be someone you're not upon first meeting someone? Just curious.

I was under the impression that Scripture reflects God having created darkness/evil (not sure that "darkness" is supposed to be synonymous with evil in the following passage).

"The One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the LORD who does all these." (Isaiah 45:7)

Amos 3:6 speaks similarly.

Someone recently posted something on CC I found interesting, too; they said that we aren't given free will so much as we are given a choice, a choice to either choose to be obedient servants of God or slaves to sin.

DNA does change in humans we are living proof of that as we age the double helix splits and forms a different DNA sequence but as a whole DNA is not falling apart. changes in DNA code can be in three different ways, beneficial, neutral or harmful.

Hi Magenta,

I said about Augustine:
Augustine, who had a far greater mind than anyone here, tried to answer this question all his life.
Just before he died, he said that there was no answer and it was unknowable.

I should have been more clear. Augustine first gave his reasons as to why and how evil exists. At the end of his life he stated that it could not be known.
He had certain ideas on grace. He changed his mind on those.
He also changed his mind on predestination.

So, NO. I am NOT a fan of Augustine. How do you trust a guy that changes his mind all the time??

As to evil --

WHICH scripture don't I agree with?
You usually list verses, but you haven't in this case...

So every time something evil happens, it means God wasn't around?
I thought He was omnipresent.

Dark - light
Cold - heat
God - evil

Except that the light could be turned to off.
Ditto for heat.

How does one turn God off in order to have evil?
