Hey everyone. I recently joined this site looking for help/support I guess. I am 38. I have an addiction. I have been dealing with this since I was around 12. I'm not addicted to drugs, sex, or alcohol. My addiction is hard to talk about so I never do. I confided in someone I thought was a friend years ago and she won't speak to me anymore so that has taught to keep my mouth shut except where I can be anonymous like in this group. After going a few years without any serious relapses, I recently (even to my suprise) fell back to my old ways. I know it's wrong and even though I want out I don't think I can get out without help. Prayer please.

Hey Algo, welcome to the site. I will definitely pray for you, but I wonder if maybe you need to go back to the beginning to find some sort of root cause for this addiction? It's possible that you're working on the symptom and not the real disease, is what I'm saying.

The Bible does say something that I find incredibly encouraging though, that God will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear, but that we have been given a way out so we can hold up under any temptation. It doesn't say it will be easy, but it is possible. :) Hold tight to Jesus no matter what.

I'm not sure if there is a root cause or if there is I can't see it. So many times I have wanted to ask for help, support or accountability at my church but I'm in the bible belt where people are really scared of things they dont understand.

There's almost always a root cause. Some people are more prone to addiction, but there's usually still a basis for it.
If you're asking for prayer and nothing more then your request is fine. If you're seeking any advice or help as well then it will be difficult to say anything very clear on the subject without saying what the addiction is.
Taking out drugs, alcohol and sex (which i'm assuming means it's not sexual in nature, either) removes the majority of common addictions.
But people may be able to provide more guidance or point you in directions to get help for your specific addiction. I understand, though, how difficult it is to share such things. So if you still aren't comfortable then that's up to you and is your right, but it could be a help to you to share. Usually the best friend addiction has is silence.

The root cause of all our misery is sin.
The root remedy of our sin is Jesus' death and resurrection for our sin.
With the help and prayers of others you can be encouraged to renew your love for Him.

I don't know if it could actually be considered an addiction by most people's standards but for me it is. I know what it is to be tempted by sin and having to choose to not do it but this is much stronger. When I'm tempted by it I almost go into a panic cuz I almost always give in and I don't want to. I am addicted to Satan worship. I know that sounds apsolutely insane but it's true. I don't kill anything or make sacrifices but just just like a Christian would pray to God, read andmeditate on scripture, I pray to Satan and meditate on him and the way this makes me feel is something I can't resist. You prolly can't believe this after what I just said but I actually am a Christian or at least I got saved many years ago but after this last going back to Satan thing I'm not so sure I could ever go back to God anymore. What's the point? I just keep doing this. The scariest part is I have 3 small children that I Have been trying to raise as Christians and I don't want them hurt.

You definitely need prayer and Christian support.
God will take you back as the father took back his prodigal son.(Luke 15:11-24) His love is greater than our sin...

Algopurple.... Here's the Truth for You...John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." Isaiah 54 :17 "No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me," declares the LORD.

The enemy has some strong holds on your mind which has gripped you for years now, which you seem to agree with. Its time to take a stand against this darkness. I would encourage you to have your church pastor & Christian intercessor's lay hands on you weekly to unite & pray to our Heavenly Father, for these strong holds to be broken on your life for good! I will say that you need to take this stand against darkness now, as in bringing it before the Lord, and asking Him to forgive you & deliver you. Our Lord, is a mighty healer & deliverer! He will set you free!, but you need to be willing to "Fight the good fight" minute by minute & daily. 1 Timothy 6:11-12 Fight the Good Fight
11 But you, O man of God, flee from these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession before many witnesses.

I'm not sure what an intersessor is and we don't do laying on of hands in my church. I have only heard of that a few times and have no idea what it's about. I was raised church of Christ as a kid and switched over to southern baptist as a young adult. I have wished I could ask for help in my church but I know better. I have heard how others talk about how scared of satanist they are and seen how they freak out just at the rumer of someone possibly being involved in that. I always just keep my mouth shut and think wow if only they knew my past. I don't think they would give me the boot but I would be treated like a freak. I might as well leave of I ever let my secret out. I know preachers are saposed to keep things confidential but I still don't trust anyone to actually be able to put their fears aside long enough to help me.

Hi sis. I know what you mean. I was trapped in the Occult that that was the biggest struggle in quitting. I always kept wanting to talk to the demons and have their presence around and have the fun with it. It was a spiritual addiction and it took me months almost a full year to get rid of it.
If you want t become a christian you literally have to cut down bit by bit. and you need to practice to controll yourself. Start with throughout the day that you start worshipping Jesus in your thoughts. Just alone in thought ''thanks Jesus I uplift your name'' and just start making it a daily thing that It takes over the other routine. If you need to talk feel free to message me.
I can tell byou though Its going to be really hard

Intercessory prayers are usually prayers from those who feel gifted in praying for breaking down strong holds, but deliverance can still happen if you don't have that kind of church to attend. It would be important to try & find a support group or church that would have a healing ministry for you to be part of. Many churches have ministries with prayer teams. Taking a "stand" against this deceptiveness is so important! but once again, You need to allow a total surrendering of your heart before the Lord. He will Set You Free!

Its not that easy in this case. First she has to break the routine and addiction.. If we did a intercessory prayer now it would make hell break loose much worse.

I have been fighting this for almost 30 years. I think a year and a half is about as long as I have gone without a major slip.

Thats really good but like said. you have to start exchangeing the the old for new. Its a process. Praise the Lord I can help you because I didnt have ANY help to get out...None at all. I had to fight it all myself to get to the point I am now. Let me give you some more advice. When you go to sleep at night pray the Lords prayer and after that pray: And now I cover this house, all windows, roof and doors with the blood of Jesus so no more evil may enter.. All evil that has entered Go now in the name of Jesus. May the Angels of the Lord protect me in all ways awake and asleep , In christ name I pray amen

This is not going to go easily. You've invited some strongmen into your home and they're not going to want to leave. You're going to have to commit to prayer and fasting to break their grip. And that's just for starters. You need to find a church that isn't afraid of such things, I would say you need to find a charismatic/pentecostal fellowship but keep in mind many of those are fake and your handlers will try to lead you to one. I'll pray the Holy Spirit gifts you with discernment, and that God will send angels to lead you to the right place. You need serious intercession... that is, in a sense, allowing others to place themselves between you and these demons, silencing binding and casting them out in the Name of Jesus in prayer and laying on of hands. You need to also go into deep confessions. When you submit to a demon, you're submitted to that demon until you confess the sin it lead you into and rebuke it. And, like Demi said, even without demonic influence your flesh on it's own is going to crave it's comfort zone. You need to pray the Blood of Christ over yourself, as your intercessors need to as well. The Blood was poured out to cleanse our flesh, and you need to get some. And them some more.

And Demi is right in something else... all hell will break loose on you. Go into this half heartedly and they will eat you alive (you think it's bad now).

Prayer, fasting, and finding those who aren't afraid of those things to pray over you... then confession and rebuking the powers and principalities... discipline in the flesh... all of that renewing your mind and refreshing your spirit. And all of it, every single ounce of it to the glory of God. Demons HATE that glory to God stuff. Stick it in their faces. And go big or stay home.

1 Corinthians 12: 3Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. When these things try to invade your mind, just start repeating that. Jesus is Lord. Jesus is Lord. Jesus is Lord. Speak it, there is power in the spoken word whether it's in a whisper to yourself or a shout to the heavens. Since you must have the Holy Spirit to do so, it will affirm the Holy Spirit's presence in and around you. Make place for Jesus in your heart and mind and lips and dwelling and there will be no place for them.

God bless you my friend. You picked a deep pit to have to rescue yourself from. God can do it, but you're going to have to do your part to receive it. No more ms shy girl, this is a fight for your life. Jesus died just so you can win this fight. let that be motivation to persevere - knowing that in the end, it's not you who wins it's Him.

Yea I would cast them out and yet still go on with the old lifestyle and it made things much harder. Thats why you gotta start replacing old traits with new Godly ones till you can draw the end line and then when your ready you can get to it.. not earlier.. Had to learn the hard way. almost cost me my life many times

Hi, It seems your brain is taking in to much. Just allow yourself to be grateful to what you have in life. We all have battles, sometimes all we have to do is our best and not worry. I was diagnozed with schizophrenia in 1998 and did suffer with voices, and saw images coming towards me whilst I was so mixed up. Everytime I felt afraid I would read the bible. It was a tough time for a number of years. Alcohol can play a large part with some people, making them worse, in my case it did make it bad. I thank God for each day, I'm alot more better these days. But beleive me there is always something to deal with.
