Lucifer was the worship leader in Heaven.
The forbidden fruit was an apple.
God sends us to Heaven on our own righteousness for doing good deeds.
God helps those who help themselves.
Heaven will be boring: endless singing and harp playing.
I blame The Divine Comedy and Paradise Lost for some misconceptions about Lucifer and the nature of Heaven and Hell. It's and disturbing how many of our beliefs about the afterlife in particular, have been borrowed from non-Biblical culture rather than sourced from God's Word.
Can you think of any other misconceptions? How might we go about lovingly correcting people on these points?
Please discuss them here.
