More perspective.
I have never been ashamed of my height. And yet, I would love to go to a store and not have to go to the fat-people section in hopes of finding something long enough to wear, and yet, it fits. And sadly, most of the stuff is too big for me, so I head over to the men's department to buy clothes, because, just-no. I am not spending another $10-$20 just because they needed another 3 inches of cloth to make it. 3 inches of cloth does NOT = $10-$20. They're not fooling me.
And, to go to the shoe section and know they have my size? Sheer heaven! For some reason, they think any woman with a size 11 shoe also wants high heels and white shoes so absolutely everyone notices the boats she walks on. (I'm tall enough. Why would I want to walk around looking like I'm 6'2" or 6'4"? Yeesh! And white? Try wearing white, high heels in winter. Not even. Snow turns white shoes an ugly color, and most of them are sandals. I guess they didn't want to spend the extra money for three more inches of pleather either. lol)
And, I get stared at by short men my age. Not short men in general, just the ones my age for some reason. And they start at my toes and work themselves up to my face, as if I am a sequoia to be shocked by. Granted, when they finally hit my face, they see a bemused grin, but if'n you're the type of person who doesn't like attention, (and I am), I can see where that could make you embarrassed.
Men expect women to be between 5'3" and 5'6", and if they're not, either way, sometimes they think it's okay to stare, as if staring will change the woman, or change them.
Oh, and something completely odd about being tall and a young woman at a dance. Most guys who ask you to dance will be short. Very short. And, they will ask you to dance during a slow dance, because they think they can rest their head on your boobs. For the record -- not unless you want a black eye first!!!
Just to give you a few ideas of what it's like being tall, and a woman. lol
