I AM engaged. Anyways... (I'm sorry, I just chuckled at your first line. Forgive me
)
I'm not really into the large diamonds, but I think that has less to do with the ring itself and more because I think it would look weird on my small fingers. I've always been more drawn to interesting and intricate designs of the band itself. I prefer a dainty look over a big showy blingy look. I do like the designs on the side of the diamond in that photo.
My fiancé sorta got a preview into my tastes for rings because he got me a promise ring about 6 months before the engagement ring. I was raving about how much I loved the design of the band (it had a pretty, curved design instead of being straight across) and so when he chose my engagement ring he picked something that had a visually interesting band. The diamond is beautiful but it's not too big. Since I like the engagement ring so much and don't feel the need to add anything bulky to it, I plan to wear a simple, thin gold band as the wedding band.
Since you're so into considering these hypothetical rings, have you considered that there are bridal sets of rings? Meaning, an engagement ring and wedding band that are designed to go together, and often they even got together like a puzzle piece and some ladies even have them soldered together after the wedding.
