In the passages below, note the grammatical tense of the "have" verbs.
They're in the present tense; not future, indicating that believers have
eternal life right now-- no delay, and no waiting period.

†. John 3:36 . . He who believes in the Son has eternal life

†. John 6:47 . .Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

†. John 5:24 . .I assure you, those who heed my message, and trust in God
who sent me, have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins,
but they have already passed from Death into Life.

†. 1John 5:13 . .I write these things to you who believe in the name of the
Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

The possession of eternal life is very crucial because according to God's
testimony, as a credible expert witness in all matters pertaining to eternal
life; Christians who currently lack it do not have God's son. In other words:
they are currently quite christless.

†. 1John 5:11-12 . . This is what God has testified: He has given us eternal
life, and this life is in His son. So whoever has God's son has this life; and
whosoever does not have this life, does not have His son.

I should think that it goes without saying that christless Christians are not
among Jesus Christ's sheep.

†. Rom 8:9 . . If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not
belong to Christ.

How many christless Christians are there? Well; for starters: the Roman
Catholic Church-- known everywhere as the largest single denomination in
the world --currently consists of approximately 1.2 billion adherents who all,
to a man, including the Pope, insist that no one obtains eternal life till they
die and cross over to the other side. Well; that can mean but one thing, and
one thing only: seeing as how those 1.2 billion souls are currently lacking
eternal life, then according to 1John 5:11-12 they are currently quite
christless. And you can safely apply that rule to any, and all, denominations
who insist that nobody obtains eternal life till they die and cross over to the
other side.

What else can we safely deduce from the above New Testament references?
Well; I think we can safely deduce that Christians lacking eternal life, lack it
because they are neither heeding Jesus Christ's message, nor trusting in
God who sent him. (John 5:24)

I think we can also safely deduce that Christians lacking eternal life are
lacking it because they are unbelievers; seeing as how belief is prerequisite
to eternal life's possession. (John 3:36, John 6:47, 1John 5:13)

FYI: According to John 5:24, Christians currently lacking eternal life, are
currently abiding in a condition of death. Hence; they are currently facing
justice at the Great White Throne event depicted at Rev 20:11-15 along with
the rest of the dead.

a great oxymoron. 'Christ less christian'. You cannot be a christian without having Christ. Let's change this to 'christians in name only' folks.
Alcohol-less drunk.
Drug free addict.
Truthful liar.
Cellibate fornicator.
Honest politician. Smile!
Non arrogant preacher. Another smile.
Loving terrorist.
Do you get it yet?

Webster's defines a Christian as: one who professes belief in the teachings
of Jesus Christ

According to Webster's, it isn't necessary to actually believe in the teachings
of Jesus Christ in order to qualify as a Christian. One need only profess belief
in his teachings. And one need not even know his teachings. All that one has
to do is give his teachings a vote of confidence; and they can have a
Christian tag with their name on it.

A Christ-less Christian is an empty shell...a tare. They may look like one, talk like one, walk like one smell like one but lack the LIFE of a Christian.

There is not such thing "Christless" Christian! The proper term is "unbeliever," lost, condemned, without hope.

There are Christians who quench the Spirit, refuse sanctification, reject service, who are still in the light and salvation of Christ. Their rewards are few to nil, and they will, at the Bema Seat, regret their choices in this life.

Kinda like fools gold.

Jeremiah 6:30
Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the Lord hath rejected them.

2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

And Webster is Professing a FALSE GOSPEL.

John 16:20 (NIV)
[SUP]20 [/SUP] I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn {the Scriptures imply they will mourn and weep over their utter sinfulness} while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.

Luke 18:10-14 (HCSB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] “Two men went up to the temple complex to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
[SUP]11 [/SUP] The Pharisee took his stand and was praying like this: ‘God, I thank You that I’m not like other people
—greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
[SUP]12 [/SUP] I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of everything I get.’

[SUP]13 [/SUP] “But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even raise his eyes to heaven but kept striking his chest
and saying, ‘God, turn Your wrath from me—a sinner!’ {Begging for forgiveness.}
[SUP]14 [/SUP]
I tell you, this one went down to his house justified {SAVED} rather than the other; because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

1 John 1:8-9 (HCSB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
[SUP]9 [/SUP] If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Revelation 3:19 (HCSB)
[SUP]19 [/SUP] As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be committed and repent.

Begging for forgiveness from a broken, contrite heart; and repentance precedes Justification (becoming SAVED).
At that very moment the Holy Spirit comes into one's heart, pouring out the LOVE of God in that Heart.
And that LOVE produces a desire to LOVE GOD BACK, and to willing receive Jesus as LORD, meaning MASTER.

John 16:7-9 (ASV)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter {the Holy Spirit - John 14:26} will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you.
[SUP]8 [/SUP] And he, when he is come, will
convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
[SUP]9 [/SUP] of sin, because they believe not on me;

Matthew 5:4 (HCSB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] Those who mourn {over their sinfulness} are blessed, for they will be comforted. {The Holy Spirit will come into the heart.}

Romans 5:5 (HCSB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] This hope will not disappoint ⌊us⌋, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

John 1:12-13 (HCSB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name,
[SUP]13 [/SUP] who were born, not of blood, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God. {the Holy Spirit brings our once dead human spirit to eternal life, and we become born again.}

John 3:6-7 (HCSB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[SUP]7 [/SUP] Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again.

Colossians 2:6 (NIV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him,

Romans 10:9 (NASB)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

Matthew 5:6 (HCSB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are blessed, for they will be filled.

1 Peter 2:2 (NKJV)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,

John 14:15 (HCSB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] If you love Me, you will keep My commands.

Webster is TOTALLY TEACHING A LIE. It is not: Profess Jesus as Lord that makes one a Christian; but rather a GENUINE surrender to HIM as LORD and MASTER in your heart, and then you can genuinely say it as a CONFESSION.

NOTICE the BIBLICAL STEPS to becoming a GENUINE CHRISTIAN are thus.

1. The Holy Spirit convicts the Heart to where we are mourning over our sinfulness. HE comes into that broken, contrite heart, and Pours out the LOVE of GOD into that heart, comforting him or her; and bringing our once dead human spirit to eternal life.

2. Out of that Love of GOD that was poured into our hearts spawns a desire to Love GOD back by always striving to obey HIM. We willingly surrender control of our lives to JESUS CHRIST as LORD, which means MASTER.

3. We boldly CONFESS to others what GOD the Holy Spirit has DONE in our hearts, and that we now KNOW Jesus Christ as LORD and MASTER.

4. That LOVE of GODin our hearts will continually produce a hunger to understand HIS WORD, and a lifestyle of always striving to obey HIM.

Those are the four steps of becoming a REAL Christian, as I personally know them.

Shortcut those steps and you are only left with Webster's definition of professing Christian faith, which cannot save.

With total due respect to Noah Webster, I'll stick with the word of God concerning the fine point.

Webster should have stuck to defining English and not attempting to define what the Bible says. The original Greek makes him stupid, or a liar, one or the other.

And one need not even know his teachings. All that one has
to do is give his teachings a vote of confidence; and they can have a
Christian tag with their name on it.
Is this you now, or is it still Webster? Either way ...

remember 'christian' was first a slurr , like simpleton, like idiot, that worldly observors used to make fun of the ekklesia.

later , when it became law , everyone had to be a 'christian' or die or be jailed or leave - nothing else was allowed.

so christian became to mean nothing different than any one else under the power of hasatan.

the disciples of hasatan who set themselves up as 'christendom', still think nothing of killing everyone else who won't bow down to the mother harlot sinner abomination.

few escaped their death grip and inquistion(which is still ongoing around the world, btw),

some did. some still do. most never do. most of the world never even seeks God for help. they willingly worship demons. even most of 'christendom' (the worldly version).

Thanks WebersHome for posting the above scriptures. I was edified by the 'have eternal life point'. A scripture that I always like a lot along these lines is the one from John 11:"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?:" The thing that always struck me about this is that once you truly believe you never die. When it says "were dead" it means were dead in tresspasses and sins before being born anew. But then the person is changed and the person liveth and believeth. They then never die, even though there might be a physical death of the body, they keep right on living. It is easy to see how the eternal life begins at the point of being born anew.

=============================

OH YES! I definitely KNOW HIM, and HE is in me, and I am in HIM.

My human spirit was brought to Eternal Life the last week of December 1977, after a third attempt at suicide that week. I finally surrendered complete control of my life to Jesus Christ my LORD. OH, has He ever been doing a MUCH better job of running my life, than I ever did.

Lk 18:30; 1 Jn 2:25; Tts 1:2 are verses that show eternal life is not something one possesses in this life.
