Hebrews 12.1-3

12 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, [SUP]2 [/SUP]fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

[SUP]3 [/SUP]For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Is this a fact and telling us that Jesus' faith finishes our race, because of what the did on the cross?

-OR-

Is this an encouragement for our personal faith to grow and allow us to run our own race with confidence because we should look to Jesus and how his own faith allowed him to endure the world and finally finish his own race?

Using a military secnario here to help me make the point clearer...

I believe Heb 12.1-3 is like when a Military Commander that asks his troops to do something he has done before. His troops will then obey and do what is asked because they have confidence and are encouraged because the Commander has done what and completed what he is asking them to do...

I do not see these verses telling me that He is the starter and finisher of what I am asked to do...This is telling me Jesus was the example for how, like him, I get it done in him....

faith is not doing it is trusting, we do because we trust, if we do not do, it is because we lack trust

using your example, when the commander told me to do something, and I did it and It worked, my faith grew, he was the author of he way, I trusted him, and he worked on finishing my faith by keeping putting me in places I will succeed,

the more he tells me to do and the more he is proven trustworthy, the more I do, and the harder I work, because my faith grows more and more,

if he told me to do something that did not work, my faith fell, I would not work so hard, if he kept failing, I would lose failth altogether,

Lets take this to God,

God said if I trust him, he will wash me, make me clean, change my life, give me hope, make me a new creature, give me rest and peace, and show me the way to lead a life which is blessed,

he is the author and finisher, because it is all based on his promises,he authored the way to these hinge, and he way to make sure these things come true

once i am saved, t he more things I do which seems odd to me before, and realize. My way is not Gods way, yet I was blessed by doing, my faith grows, the more I trust him, the more my faith grows,

in contrast, the times I decide I can handle it, and it fails. Or I am not blessed by doing it, Well then I realize how untrustworthy I am and how much more I need to trust God,

thats why may faith grows, because whenever I do it Gods way, it works, whenever I do it my way, I fall on my face,

now, I want to give that all up, and live a life of falling on my face? Why do you think the prodigal son returned. He knew his father was trustworthy and could take care of him,

fr usm we may forget how before we were saved we failed, no matter what we did, we could not find happiness, and when we tried to do it again, hwe failed again.

A person who can go go back to the world in unbelief in my view, never experienced gods faithfulness, you can not in my view experience that, then think you are better off on your own the old way, it won't happen (not to mentions, just like the commands will punish you your not following him, so will god, if your really his son or daughter)

sevenseas definitely. Not sure about this new 7.
I kinda remember Lauren and the 1st 7 being ... let's say ... a bit more cordial, and less too cool for school. I don't know what the big secret is about even protecting your first name. Are we not protected by the Lord?

What is born again?...the spirit, mind or flesh of a man?

You are born again, you who were dead in trespasses and sin have been made alive in Christ.

Hi Sof...I understand that well, but we can still have our discernment behind the keyboard, not to be shown untill the person is shown to be truly who they are...What if there is no truth in this at all, it can lead to slander of ones name, that`s why my discernment was for NNM...xox...

In this statement I have much agreement. While we are in the process of His saving our soul....the goal is Sonship...

And it is not taught enough except by groups labeled as manifested sons...or latter day reign. There are errors in this movement, true. But basically they are correct in Sonship.

I am saved, as in I will get to heaven

i am being saved, as in God is changing me to make me a better person and save me from myself

i will be saved, as in I will be resurrected to new life and spend eternity with him

again, I honk the issue may be the English language..lol

The old seven was in many different threads. This one primarily in this one.

She used G7 when talking to him.. This one types the rest out.. that piqued my curiosity

fran was here before she was fran, I know this from an inside source, that's why many people assumed this was fran returned,

i am still ill not sure they jury has made its decision yet,

We are Spirit now...not a better person. He takes us out of our human nature which is fallen and places us into His. When the Spirit rules the soul, and the body. I am not there yet...that is a process...done in our Spirit, worked out in our being....be ing in Him.

People ask to have their account deleted, and it is removed from the data base, at which time they become a guest. There are many reasons for anyone to do this, perhaps they just want a break from the hardships of being here. They are always free to return again after leaving under such conditions. One thing I don't like about the guest thingy, is that once a profile/account is deleted, it is harder to look back on their post history, using the tools of this site for searching threads or forums; since the profile is no longer there, everything connected to it is gone as well, though the posts and threads they made remain, if you know where to look for them. Blue said there was a way to find them using the Advanced Search function, but a couple of us tried her method with no luck. Banned people on the other hand still have a profile, and so it is easier to find certain things if you want to look for them through their profile or recent post stream. If you had a member on ignore before their account was deleted, their posts will then become visible to you, also.

If your looking for being with him as prize. and working hard to get it, You will lose out. because you can not work hard enough to earn that, it must be paid for by someone who can pay the debt so you can have it

I love you sis, But please. do not tell me your not trying to work for it, when you just placed it as your highest goal your working for.

I do not care about any rewards, like abraham, he looked forward to his reality (not reward) arriving, and paul, who said to be absent was to be present.

Neither of these men worked for their reward, they looked forward/or back in pauls case, to their redeemer, Who GAVE them the gift. which one day will be fulfilled.
Maybe we just aren't going to connect, and that's okay.
I struggle when He points out areas of mistrust to me. I strive to grab that which I have been grabbed for. Not to say I have obtained perfection, but I strive. If you want to call that evil works, we are going to have to remain at an impasse, because I cannot stop striving to apprehend that which I have been apprehended for. I just look ahead and I reach. He put that will in me to strive, to race to trust more and more. Consider the possibility that you may be far more advanced than I am spiritually and that you may be trying to force on me what I am not yet ready to bear. It could be a possibility.

but many of people say that one must do good works to maintain salvation, which equals out to the same thing.

of course doing good works are a huge part of every believer's life, but not to " maintain " salvation, to " prove salvation by works". both of these concepts, which we see here on a regular basis, are works salvationism, no matter how they try to explain that it's not.
Agree....

The best example of true works based salvation are usually denominations or even non-denominationals that preach legalism...

All you have to do is advance search them and all the threads they posted in come up
