Warning against Deliberate Sin

26 For if we deliberately sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire about to consume the adversaries. 28 If anyone disregards Moses’ law, he dies without mercy, based on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment do you think one will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God, regarded as profane[d] the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know the One who has said, Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay,[e][f] and again, The Lord will judge His people.[g] 31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!
32 Remember the earlier days when, after you had been enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings. 33 Sometimes you were publicly exposed to taunts and afflictions, and at other times you were companions of those who were treated that way. 34 For you sympathized with the prisoners[h] and accepted with joy the confiscation of your possessions, knowing that you yourselves have a better and enduring possession.[i] 35So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised.
37 For yet in a very little while,
the Coming One will come and not delay.
38 But My righteous one[j] will live by faith;
and if he draws back,
I have no pleasure in him.[k]

39 But we are not those who draw back and are destroyed, but those who have faith and obtain life.

2 Peter 2:21-22Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy command delivered to them. 22 It has happened to them according to the true proverb: A dog returns to its own vomit,[a] and, “a sow, after washing itself, wallows in the mud.”

Its really not that scary. The author is just saying remain in Faith. Well, I suppose for people that are living lukewarm this verse won't sit too well on the stomach.

Obviously, this verse is similar to......

Oops, that’s “if” the case which a deliberate sinning would take impossible for a real saved but these speaks of the adversaries, false teachers which does that and as it is expected for them a punishment in the fury of fire. Nothing is said for real saved to fall away. This seem drawing back of the believers is nothing about losing one’s salvation though if one drawback God has no pleasure in him but not the writer is talking of losing salvation.

Hi Roughsoul1991,

My simplified view on Hebrew 6 is that as the writer says “For it is impossible” for a real saved to fall away.

Thanks

Proverbs 28:18
Whoso walketh uprightly
(righteously) shall be saved: but he that is perverse (sinner) in his ways shall fall at once.

The simple reading of the text overcomes the opinions of man...It says; its imposable to again restore them, 'ie' the parable of the wondering spirit...meaning its virtually impossible because there is only about 2 or 3 examples of this ever happening in the OT...David was one of the very few...it by nature hardens the heart beyond repentance again..

I will again post this to show the difference between those who trust JESUS, his grace, mercy and faith for complete salvation as opposed to the "workers for" and "cake takers"

Those who sing and love the song AMAZING GRACE understand mercy, grace and faith that saves found in the completed work of Christ and his shed blood....the righteous for the unrighteous....amen...

NOW the "workers for" have their own song.....goes something like this...

AMAZING WORKS how hard the toil
That did not save a wretch like me
I once was LOST and still not found
Because I trusted not in thee

May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.
1 Thess 3:13

No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they remained virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among mankind and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.

None of us are holy. None of us are blameless, and none of us are righteous..
Then you are calling Paul wrong, Peter, the apostles and Jesus.

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.
1 Thess 2:10

Now the point in our walk is when we doubt Gods word, we need to look deeper
and longer and wonder what He means and why.

The priests in the temple were purified and made holy.
The altar was made holy.

We are now washed by the Holy priest Christ through whom we have been
made clean. Maybe you defile yourself every time you repent, confess and
walk before the King, but this is His intention.

well, if you think you can measure up to Paul and the Apostles , much less Christ himself, then you are delusional. or more delusional than you normally are.

AMEN Blue....You know....funny thing what Jesus said while alive on this earth, along with his Apostles and disciples who could walk on water, raise the dead, cast out demons, heal the sick and numerous other miracles unnamed....and while also being identified as his church no less than two times in the present context and filled with saved, immersed disciples of JESUS...

JESUS SAID...."THERE are NONE GOOD save GOD".....HE ALSO SAID, "IF you being EVIL can give good gifts unto your children, HOW MUCH MORE YOUR FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN"<----identifies them as the children of GOD as in SAVED

JESUS must be stupid and ignorant of this sinless, perfectionism lie that permeates many today...

HE SAID his disciples were NOT GOD and EVIL........it is the SPIRIT that is BORN AGAIN of INCORRUPTABE SEED and it is BOUND in a FALLEN, SINFUL body of FLESH.........

PAUL said the EVIL that he does is SIN which dwells in him.....wake up people........it is only the spirit of GOD that is born of incorruptible seed that does not SIN because it is BORN of the HOLY SPIRIT!

Not sure why you have posted that.

Care to expand how this relates to 'Not by works'

14:5 The 144,000 were not sinless in their earthly lives (see Rom. 3:23), but they were without deceit and fault with regard to their testimony for Christ. In particular, they did not participate in falsehood, because they rejected the lie of the Antichrist (see 2 Thess. 2). They were without fault or blemish because they refused the mark of the beast.

We are holy when we walk in his light...

1 jOhn 1:7
but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

I think one looks at the word Holy as a single meaning when actually its a collective meaning,,, for when you walk in in the light you walk in The body of christ and in inuity will fellow believers in mind and spirit.

It also seems that they where holy in the old t too...

Leviticus 11:44

For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. You shall not defile yourselves with any swarming thing that crawls on the ground.

Now to look at this scripture you could say being holy is aslo to be clean... so whats hard about cleaning your house ?
