2 Thessalonians 1

the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, [SUP]8 [/SUP]in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. [SUP]9 [/SUP]These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, [SUP]10 [/SUP]when He comes, in that Day,

- When Jesus came to the world, he came as a Saviour
- When He returns, He returns as a Judge
- Those who are judged will fall into two categories
a)
Those who do not know God (these are unbelievers who either never heard the Word, or heard the word and rejected it)
b)
Those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (these are ones entrusted with the Word but lived their lives after the flesh and not being led by the Spirit. Their lives are characterised by disobedience.
- Both these categories of people have their portion in the lake of fire.
- in particular, we see scriptures from the words of Jesus himself in Luke 12v46 [SUP]46 [/SUP]the master of
that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
- we also know that those above
who do not obey the gospel as the same ones whom Jesus refers to in Matthew 7v23 [SUP]23 [/SUP]And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

John 3
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. [SUP]18 [/SUP]“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [SUP]19 [/SUP]And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. [SUP]20 [/SUP]For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. [SUP]21 [/SUP]But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

- In the First Coming of Jesus into the world, He came as Savior.
- He came as the Light to the World - John 1
- So that all who would believe in Him should not perish but have everlating life John 3v16
- He who believes in Christ (v18) will not walk in evil deeds (V19). He who walks in evil deeds hates Jesus (V19)
- He who walks in obedience (v21) comes to the Light, and loves God.
- Now Jesus comes in His Second Coming as the Judge.

Matthew 25

[SUP]31 [/SUP]“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy[SUP][a][/SUP] angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. [SUP]32 [/SUP]All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. [SUP]33 [/SUP]And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. [SUP]34 [/SUP]Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:[SUP]35 [/SUP]for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; [SUP]36 [/SUP]I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

[SUP]37 [/SUP]“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? [SUP]38 [/SUP]When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? [SUP]39 [/SUP]Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ [SUP]40 [/SUP]And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

[SUP]41 [/SUP]“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: [SUP]42 [/SUP]for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; [SUP]43 [/SUP]I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

[SUP]44 [/SUP]“Then they also will answer Him,[SUP][b][/SUP] saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ [SUP]45 [/SUP]Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ [SUP]46 [/SUP]And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

The only distinction made between who are the Sheep and who are the Goats in the above passage of scripture is based on what they did. They both called Him Lord.

Nice thread Chris,

Reminds me as a Christian we need to....

"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" (2Cor 13:5)

We need to be careful that we are ......

" doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdes himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgets what manner of man he was. But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain." (James 1:22-26).

We need to follow God's Word...

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." (Isa 55:6-7)

The promise is given to us...

"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Jer 29:13)

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matt 6:33)

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Rom 1:16)

"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." (2Pet 1:4)

"Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." (1John 2:1)

God Bless you

You are mistaken...there isn't two categories, just one...

a) Those who do not know God (these are unbelievers who either never heard the Word, or heard the word and rejected it)
b) Those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (these are ones entrusted with the Word but lived their lives after the flesh and not being led by the Spirit. Their lives are characterised by disobedience.
"Nominal" "almost" Christians may play church but are unbelievers and don't know God. They are not born again and sealed with the Holy Spirit.

Those who do not obey the gospel are those that reject Christ's sacrifice for sins. They are unbelievers. God doesn't send His children to hell despite what works-based/ works-righteousness belief systems try to tell us.

A believer that is truly born of the Spirit of God and sealed in Him will no more be in hell then Daffy Duck and Donald Duck are the 2 witnesses in the book of Revelation.

It is an anti-Christ belief system and it is anti-the gospel of the grace of God in Christ.

The only distinction made between who are the Sheep and who are the Goats in the above passage of scripture is based on what they did. They both called Him Lord.
They are not sheep because of what they did, they are sheep because of what Christ did for the sheep, notice goats do not become sheep, Jesus is calling them sheep before He lays down His life. They are being judged for their deeds, not if they are a sheep or a goat.

John 10:11, 15 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep....15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.

As far as both calling Him Lord, it's not calling Him Lord because He was Lord in their lives, they are calling Him Lord because He is Lord over their lives, as in He is judging them with His sovereign power over them, not in them. Also notice with the sheep it adds "
righteous" verse 37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord," not so with the goats, there is nothing like the "wicked" here it is "Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord,". The sheep are righteous because they called Him Lord while they lived their lives, where the goats only call Him Lord in judgement. Jesus will be Lord of our life, where you want to be or not, you will call Him Lord.

Isaiah 45:23
I have sworn by Myself; the word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath.

Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The goats call Him Lord because they have to, the sheep because they lived their lives with Him as their Lord.

What kind of faith do people actually have?

1. ""that God is; that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him;" and that he is to be sought by glorifying him as God, by giving him thanks for all things, and by a careful practice of moral virtue, of justice, mercy, and truth, toward their fellow creatures. "

2. believes, not only that there is a wise and powerful God, gracious to reward, and just to punish; but also, that Jesus is the Son of God, the Christ, the Saviour of the world. So we find him declaring, in express terms, "I know Thee who Thou art; the Holy One of God" ....God was made manifest in the flesh; that he will "tread all enemies under his feet;" and that "all Scripture was given by inspiration of God."

3. believed on him (Jesus) as to "leave all and follow him;" although they had then power to work miracles, to "heal all manner of sickness, and all manner of disease;" yea, they had then "power and authority over all devils;" and, which is beyond all this, were sent by their Master to "preach the kingdom of God."

*****

Yet you can believe all of the above and still not have a saving faith.

AMEN.......the bible is clear....a café blend of faith and works is a false gospel of a different kind with NO POWER to save...one that is double cursed and even JUDE compares false teachers to three false teachers with CAIN being the first on the list....CAIN also pushed his own works and effort.......there is NOT one verse that states works save us or keep us saved, but rather works are the evidence of the faith and salvation one already possesses in Christ!

Because of iniquity.
It is because they lacked a saving faith in Jesus and what He did upon the Cross, His ressurection and the seal of the Holy Spirit,

Why did you leave off the beginning of the scripture Christ. That's misleading.

For it is justice for God to pay back trouble to those who are troubling you, and to give rest along with us to you are being troubled, when the Lord Yeshua is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in a fiery flame. Then He will punish those who don't know God, that is those who don't listen to the Good News of our Lord Yeshua and obey it. Believe!

Fyi....

"Descriptive" describes what believers are like after being saved.

"Prespective" says you have to be these things to be a believers.

"Conflating" means you are mixing the two up.

Believe!
Because that is their MODUS OPERANDI.......just enough truth to appear biblical when in fact they butcher the truth to push a working for café blend false gospel......
