Do you believe a works based salvation......?
Hi DCON,

Absolutely Not. I believe Gods Word when it says.....

"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief." (1Tim 1:15)

But the only way we can be led to this conclusion is by the law of God...

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (Gal 3:24)

God's Word is His Power to save us from our sins as we believe His Word.....

"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2Pet 1:4)

"For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." (Phil 2:13)

" Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Heb 13:20-21)

And as mentioned above we need to ....

"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" (2Cor 13:5) As Christian I believe we need to do this everyday

I think this is a great thread because of the reasons given in my first post in message # 4

God's Word is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. Jesus wants to save us from all of the sin we know about in our lives.

"By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith." (1John 5:2-4)

Gods blessing to everyone

We are saved by faith in Jesus Christ, and after this life we will most definitely be judged by the works we did while in this body, whether they be good or bad.

Try reading the whole of Galatians chapter 3 - if you have the courage:

1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth,[a]before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you[b] as crucified?
2
This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3
Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?
4
Have you suffered so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?
5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
6
just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[c]
7
Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.”[d] 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”[e]
11
But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”[f]
12
Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”[g]
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”[h]),
14
that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

15 Brethren, I speak in the manner of men: Though it is only a man’s covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it. 16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,”[i] who is Christ.
17
And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ,[j] that it should make the promise of no effect. 18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23
But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed.

24
Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
27
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29
And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Do you really want to be counted as a foolish Galatian?

Chris can speak for himself but I see what he is saying as summarized here....

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that bears not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. (John 15:1-10)

God's blessing to you

5This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering— 6since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels 8in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

In context...God is judging those who are persecuting His kids...

Those who do not obey the gospel are those that reject Christ's sacrifice for sins. They are unbelievers. God doesn't send His children to hell despite what works-based/ works-righteousness belief systems try to tell us.

A believer that is truly born of the Spirit of God and sealed in Him will no more be in hell then Daffy Duck and Donald Duck are the 2 witnesses in the book of Revelation.

It is an anti-Christ belief system and it is anti-the gospel of the grace of God in Christ.

However, those unbelievers are many in church who believe that they are Christians and are saved. They've confessed Jesus as Lord and believe they are saved.

The person who is saved by grace through faith, that very faith they have in the Lord causes them to live an obedient life.

The one who thinks they're saved and aren't are going to have a rude awakening. They don't live by grace through faith which produces obedience, they think they can get by with a good work here or a good work there similar to the Lord, Lord didn't we cast out demons in your name and He tells them He knows them not.

Their own works will profit them nothing, but they think they are saved. So for them, they have lost something.

However, obedience and fruit are something that genuine faith produces.

On God's part He has lost none, because He knows those who are His.

But on the person who believes they are saved and aren't, they will have lost something very dear that they thought they had.

Yes, and those persecuting His kids, come both from unbelievers and the goats.

2 Thessalonians 1
[SUP]4 [/SUP]so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith <endurance in the faith> in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, [SUP]5 [/SUP]which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy <this statement flies in the face of many on CC who say that its all already done for the believer> of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; [SUP]6 [/SUP]since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you <unbelievers trying to hinder the gospel, as well as goats within the ranks>, [SUP]7 [/SUP]and to give you who are troubled rest <eternal life/sabbath rest> with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, [SUP]8 [/SUP]in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God <unbelievers>, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ <goats>.

God makes a distinction between these two categories of people. If you try to merge the two categories in verse 8, then the scripture no longer makes any sense. For "those who do not know God" could not have obeyed the gospel anyway, because they never received it in the first place.

So no, those who do not obey the gospel are those who were happy to receive Jesus as Savior, but would not inconvenience themselves to receive Him as Lord (Master).

Who actually trusts Jesus and who says the words but is actually lying?

It is the one who puts their trust on the line. It is easy to say I believe things but they
cost me nothing, and I do nothing to show I believe.

Now listen what we care talking is at stake. Eternity walking with the creator, the eternal
King full of love, openness and truth.

Only a fool would believe they can walk with Him if their hearts are not with the poor, the
needy, those alone and lost, desperate for love and acceptance, yet they do not see or
even care. Jesus is simply saying, out of the outflow you your hearts to others, you saw
a need and met it, you reached out and knew what was going to happen. These are my
people, the ones after my heart. Those goats who claimed so much, but always looked
only to their own needs, these are the enemy, not my people.

Now I know the goats will always argue against this, but remember they construct the world
after their own hearts, and love flowing to others is just something they neither understand
or experience. So just listen to you Lord and know He knows who are His, Halleluyah.

People think this is about judging, but actually it is about bringing into light the truth of what
is going on in the heart of man. Be encouraged, He knows you and loves you, and wants to
shower His blessing on your hearts, Amen.

Well said...that's why Paul told the Corinthians to "examine yourselves" to see if Christ is in you and see if you are "in the faith". We are either in Christ and Christ is in us or we are not. This is a one time examination.

The Holy Spirit testifies to our spirit that we are children of God.

Unfortunately the true gospel has been so watered down by legalistic teachings that it has nullified the very grace needed to effect transformation by the Spirit of God within us.

We have exchanged the grace of God that is only in what Christ has already done for a behavior modification program. The true teaching of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ will produce His life in us which will manifest in godly living.

Religion tries to "dictate' the fruit of the spirit by mandating - instead of preaching and teaching Christ Himself and complete dependence on His work on the cross and resurrection for life and living.

Only the clear preaching of the gospel of the grace of Christ will bring about the true faith needed to produce the transformation that comes with knowing Christ Himself and being sealed with the Holy Spirit.

There are goats and wolves among the sheep but they don't KNOW God or obey Him.

They don't have a saving faith. The goats have the Faith of a heathen. The wolves the Faith of demons.

They never were sheep.

Goats can say and believe this statement

"1. ""that God is; that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him;" and that he is to be sought by glorifying him as God, by giving him thanks for all things, and by a careful practice of moral virtue, of justice, mercy, and truth, toward their fellow creatures. "

Wolves state and believe this...

"2. believes, not only that there is a wise and powerful God, gracious to reward, and just to punish; but also, that Jesus is the Son of God, the Christ, the Saviour of the world. So we find him declaring, in express terms, "I know Thee who Thou art; the Holy One of God" ....God was made manifest in the flesh; that he will "tread all enemies under his feet;" and that "all Scripture was given by inspiration of God." "

But neither have a saving faith.

Do you know what is missing in both statements?

Goats are know by their fruit.
- either no fruit
- or bad fruit

Sheep are known by their fruit
- godly works
- obedience

If you are living in disobedience, you are a goat. You may masquerade as a sheep, but you are a goat.

Salvation is ONLY for those who obey Christ.

Hebrews 5
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

So you instead decide to "run the gauntlet". Deny the Lord and call obedience "works" which do not save.

You will get a wake up call on the Day of the Lord.

2 Thessalonians 1
the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, [SUP]8 [/SUP]in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Being "obedient to the faith" is believing in Christ and His work for us for life and living. This is obeying Christ for the unbeliever when He hears the gospel message.

Notice here that even the law-keeping good moral living priests need to be "obedient to the faith". The keeping of the law of Moses is NOT the same as being
"obedient to the faith".

Acts 6:7 (NASB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were
becoming obedient to the faith.

Pagans/Gentiles also need to
be "obedient to the faith" and believe in Christ and what He has done for life and living.

Romans 1:5 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about
the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake,

All people of all types are called to be "
obedient to the faith" - which is belief in Christ alone for life and living.

Romans 16:26 (NASB)
[SUP]26 [/SUP] but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations,
leading to obedience of faith;

Nothing in the attack is justified or anything but someones opinion intended to hurt
and destroy another. I call this abuse and verbal assault.

And the reason for this? Quotes Jesus

You are my friends if you do what I command.
John 15:14

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
John 15:15
