The futurist crowd all claim the the 1948 "return" of Israel to the land was the fulfillment of the Mosaic promises in the bible - promises that waxed old with the end of the covenant in 70AD and supposedly a fulfillment of "fig tree parable"

And even if those Mosaic promises were still valid (and they are not) they would only be able to return under repentance and obedience (as stipulated in the Mosaic covenant).

History shows us no such thing with the people that returned in 1948, they were mainly atheists.

And seeing as that covenant is dead there is nothing they can do by keeping the outdated conditions in the Mosaic covenant that would enable any return.

It is also claimed that the 1948 return was a fulfillment of the "fig tree" parable "promise"

(Mat 24:32 KJV) Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

And if we read on from the above we know it's not speaking of return but of destruction and a casting out:

(Mat 24:39 KJV) And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Mat 24:32 KJV) Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

(Mat 24:33 KJV) So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

So much for the futurist position - 1948 - where's the doors?

1967 - where's the doors?

Riders on the Storm...:p

First it is important not to assume those who make reference to the Jerusalem of this age are confusing it with the New Jerusalem of Yahweh. Second it may behoove any who may do this to realize just as the Children of Israel are a lesson to all, Jews and Christians alike, so the Jerusalem of this age is a constant lesson as to the Will of Yahweh, and how His will is demonstrated to the faithful, a spiritual staging ground if you will.

Watch
the Jerusalem of this age intently while we wait for the New Jerusalem of our Maker.

For the ignorant ones, remain ignorant, it is called the "Belfour" Declaration: Be blessed and who cares? After all history is history.
