Revelation 13 is primarily about the 1278 years
that Islam controlled Jerusalem.

A line by line exegesis of the first 10 verses . . .

Revelation 13:1-10 “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast"
(empire, Daniel 7-8 gives us this definition)
"rise up out of the sea"
(of people, Rev 17:15),

"having seven heads and ten horns"
(The Holy Land is central in Bible prophecy so this beast is the various Islamic countries that have controlled the Holy Land during the Christian era),
"and upon his horns ten crowns"
(ten major anti-Christian Islamic Caliphates during the Christian era, here are their names . . .

1.1 Rashidun, 632–661
1.2 Umayyads, 7th–8th centuries
1.3 The Caliphate in Hispania
1.4 Abbasids, 8th–13th centuries
1.5 Fatimids, 10th–12th centuries
1.6 Shadow Caliphate, 13th–16th centuries
1.7 Ottomans, 16th–20th century
1.8 Sokoto, 19th century
1.9 Ahmadiyya Caliphate, 1908-Present
1.10 Khilafat Movement, 1920

Caliphate movement ends in 1924. But now, fundamental Islam is once again trying to establish a worldwide Caliphate!

"and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion"
(Greece, Medo-Persia, Babylon, see Daniel 7. Today’s Syria, Iran, Iraq, i.e., the Islamic hegemony in the Middle East):
"and the dragon (Satan) gave him his power, and his seat (throne), and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded unto death"
(at the Battles of Khazaria, Tours and Vienna);
"and his deadly wound was healed"
(after 1948-1967 the present worldwide Islamic Jihad begins):
"and all the world"
(the nations around Israel)
"wondered after the"
(Leopard-Bear-Lion)
"
beast. And they worshipped the dragon (Satan) which gave power unto the (Islamic) beast: and they worshipped the (Islamic ) beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies"
(against the God who created the Universe);
"and power was given unto him to continue"
(controlling the Holy Land)
"forty and two months"
(42 months is 1278.34 days. Islam controls Jerusalem until 1967 -1278=688AD, the exact year the Muslims began to built the Dome of the Rock on God’s Temple mount in Jerusalem. Ezekiel 4:5-6 defines a prophetic day as a year).
"And he"
(the evil spirit behind Islam, probably Satan)
"opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name"
(saying God has no Son),
"and his tabernacle"
(the temple mount),
"and them that dwell in heaven.”
(All believers are now spiritually seated in the heavenlies with Christ, Ephesians 1:3)
"And it was given unto him (Islam) to make war with the saints (the first Jihad), and to overcome them"
(from India to Spain):
"and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations"
(the world as known to John, i.e., Israel and the surrounding Middle Eastern nations).
"And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him"
(the Leopard-Bear-Lion beast, i.e., Islam),

whose names are not written in the book of life"
(so Islam is not another road to heaven)
"of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
(Revelation 13:8 is the only verse in the whole Bible stating that Jesus’ crucifixion is eternal, His blood covering man’s sin both ways in time. In the mind of God the Father, Jesus was sacrificed before the foundation of the world, otherwise Old Testament believers and the blinded Jews of this age could not be saved.)
If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.”

The Beast with Two Horns like a lamb and the "mark" of the Leopared-Bear-Lion beast will be discussed in another thread.

I believe that the Muslim movement is also struggling with and against the demonic influences and spiritual warfare that we as Christians are facing. Islam is not the AntiChrist nor Satan. Revelation is about the end times and the rise and fall of the Antichrist, Satan, the beast and the false prophet. They are not respective of religious denominations.

Revelation is actually a figurative picture, a synopsis, of the major events that have taken place on Earth throughout time, but getting people to see it isn't all that easy. Here is the verse that proves it . . .

Revelation 1:19 "Write the things which thou hast seen (past tense, things that happened before John's time), and the things which are (happening during John's time), and the things which shall be hereafter (future to John's time)."

So Revelation is abouit the past, present and future from the time of the Apostle John. Understanding when various verses are about is one of the keys to the book.

I disagree with your statement. We as followers of Christ bear witness of the truth that is in Christ Jesus. Muslims do not bear witness to the truth and are in fact following the false teachings of The False Prophet Mohammed who was inspired by demons. They follow darkness, we follow the light, so to say they are facing the same spiritual warfare that we are is complete rubbish.

Islam is not the AntiChrist nor Satan.
Wrong again. By the Word of God, Islam is the very imbodiment of antichrist. For the scriptures verify this.
1Jn 2:22
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2Jn 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Knowing that Islam teaches that Jesus Christ was only a prophet and not the Son of God verifies that Islam is indeed antichrist by God's definition. So do we trust God's defintion or do we trust man's defintion of what antichrist is?

The problem with having Islam as the first beast of Rev 13 is that the 10 horns or nations have crowns upon there heads, meaning they are ruled by a monarchy as the nations of Europe having Kings and queens. Islam do not have kings and queens they are not ruled by a monarchy, USA as well do not have a monarchy so they cannot be the first beast of Rev 13.

I truly hate to argue with fellow believers, however, the seven heads are revealed to be seven mountains in Revelations 17. This indicates that the beast a nation ruled by Rome. Revelations does not reveal what is past. Why would God want us to know what is past, since the Old Testament already told us everything we need to know about our past. The Gospels and Pauline Epistles explained what was and is happening in the present. Revelations is God's 'revealing' (definition of Revelations) of His ultimate plan.

I could not agree with you more. Sometimes, we try to bepolitically correct not to offend others, we sugar code the truth. However, theWord of God always prevails.

You are welcome to disagree with me all you like, <smile> I am not offended. Rome is indeed in Rev 17, the whore of Babylon being an apostate Roman church, but Rome is only one of the seven heads. God willing, I'll exegete Revelation 17 in a later post. However, that Revelation describes events past, present and future from the time of John is not an optional belief, but a scriptural given, Rev 1:19.

I think you are saying that golden turbans need not apply even though they were believed to be crowns in that culture and that those potentates are even today called monarchs? You don't believe the historic kings in Iran, Saudi Arabia and Jordan were kings even though they were accepted as kings around the world? Hummm . . .

Judaism also denies Jesus was the Son of God.
somehow it gets a pass in therapon's work.
should it?

There are meant to be 10 kings not just one or two. When western Rome fell in 476 AD it was divided into 10 parts. Because the 10 horns come out of the 4th beast of Daniel then the 10 kings with crowns are Roman in origin. That puts it in Europe not the middle East. The little Horn or man of sin then comes out of Europe.

Something to ponder on:

Islam teaches that Jesus Christ will be their mahdi's prophet who shall go into the world converting the non-believers to Islam.

So you see,

Their jesus is our false prophet. Their savior (mahdi) is our antichirst.

Could yoy be forgetting the two beasts folowing Daniel 7, in Daniel 8 that are out of the Middle East? I know your's is a popular view, but I don't believe there is any biblical support for it. It's one thing to make a doctrinal statement, quite another to prove it from the Bible.

I still fail to see how Revelations 1:19 defends your theory. He is telling John to write down what he is shown and what is to come. And Scripture actually tells us what the seven heads represent, seven mountains which are the seven hills Rome is built upon.

Well sir, in my humble opinion, you may be using your doctrine to interpret Scripture, rather that letting Scripture determine your doctrine. Let's look at that verse one more time and please pay very close attention to the tense of the verbs . . .

Revelation 1:19 "Write the things which thou hast seen (past tense, events that have already happened), and the things which are (events that are happening now), and the things which shall be hereafter (events that will happen in the future)."

We need to stand in John's sandals in 100 A.D. and look at that prophecy from his time. According to Revelation 1:19, some of Revelation is about events that happened before John's time, some of of Revelation is about events are happening during John's time, and some of Revelation is about events that will happen after John's time. Just trust God's Word! Since the Bible says "hast seen, are, and shall be hereafter," believe it.

If we place any of our doctrines above God's Word, it isn't long before we start doubting all of God's Word. So please be careful, younger brother. <smile>

One little problem, Revelation 13 states that people in Islam, "worship the dragon." Furthermore, inside the Dome of the Rock is an inscription in Arabic that reads, "Far be it from God's glory that He should have a son," but the Bible says . . .

1 John 2:23 "Everyone denying the Son does not have the Father. The one confessing the Son also has the Father."

2 John 1:9 "Everyone transgressing and not abiding in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. The one abiding in the doctrine of Christ, this one has the Father and the Son."

So Islam is not a different road to heaven!!! The false prophet Muhammed has caused the worst tragedy of the Christian era. Because of Islam, more than a billion and a half souls are on their way to hell.

Allow me to be perfectly clear: ISLAM IS NOT ANOTHER ROAD TO HEAVEN. Sorry for that misunderstanding.

Islam teaches that their Mahdi will be their savior. Islam teaches that jesus (there jesus) will be the prophet sent out by the Mahdi to convert those who are not Islamic to Islam. They who refuse will be beheaded (mentioned in Revelation about beheading).

To the Christian, this is saying: their messiah and his prophet is our antichirst and false prophet. So, as you talk about it Mr. Therapon, they are already on God's mount and that billion or so believe that their Mahdi (savior) will come in their lifetime and have purposed to bring about this antichirst (oppose to the Christ) who says that God has no son in their lifetime.

Mr. Therapon,

Another things please. When Revelation said that they worship the dragon (snake), isn't Satan's sole purpose that of being opposed to Christ. Islam, with its moon crest, certainly worship the dragon in his rebellion against the Christ.

/QUOTE]

If I understand you correctly, you believe it is islam's intent to turn the whole world into an Islamic Caliphate under an immaginary 10th Imam who is supposedly going to rise up out of a well and conquor the world. You are right, that is what Moslems believe, but what Moslems believes won't save them. It is what they don't believe about Jesus that has them on the broad road that leadeth to destruction. To quote the Lord Jesus, "If you don't believe that I AM, ye shall die in your sins."
