Zone did quote to you Isaiah 45:13 and 44:28 which also talks of the city.

Maybe Satan did confused you from looking from the truth.

Confused me?

No I am not ocnfused.

I showed the passages which prove Cyrus just ordered the rebuilding of the temple
I showed the passages which prove Isreal got in trouble for TRYING to rebuild the city under the order of Cyrus

Yes, Cyrus got the rebuilding started, But HE NEVER gave permission to start rebuilding the city proper.

Direct from the Lord pertaining to Cyrus:

[Isa 45:13] KJV I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the LORD of hosts.

He shall build my City.
City - jerusalem is a city
Again, the proof is in the text.

Cyrus commanded the start to rebuild the house of God and lay its foundation.

Did the people of Israel think Cyrus gave them permision to reebuild the City??

Ezra 4

[SUP]3 [/SUP]But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of the heads of the fathers’ houses of Israel said to them, “You may do nothing with us to build a house for our God; but we alone will build to the Lord God of Israel, as King Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us.

Nothing about a city

It was the house of God. And they were commanded to stop.

[SUP]21 [/SUP]Now give the command to make these men cease, that this city may not be built until the command is given by me.

And it was the house of God which stopped. because they were in sin against the king, and trying to rebuild the CITY, which they did not have permission to do!

[SUP]24 [/SUP]Thus the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem ceased, and it was discontinued until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

At which time, the restoration of the TEMPLE was re-started.

again the CITY was not given perimssion until Artaxerxes sent Nehemiah with the command to rebuild the city. The TEMPLE was already being rebuilt at the time, Due to the command of Cyrus!

Again, Scripture trumps. The actual events are recorded for us. Trying to go to other passages, to prove a point, when the proof of the actual events are in black and white does not help ones cause!

Does it matter?

if NYC was destroyed. And the people were just given permission ot rebuild the empire state building, but not the city proper. Would that command be deemed a command to rebuild NYC?

Zone:
I am trying to understand your last week:

Your last week began at the baptism of Christ
crucifixion 3.5 years later - i can underatand this and can be proven by 3.5 years of his ministry.

But can you prove that the stoning of stephen/rejection of HS by the jews occured 3.5 years after crucifixion?
i don't know.
i would have to focus entirely on that.
might be able to come close. that would involve all dates in scripture.
there are already lots who have worked on it.

but don't know if anyone has to prove it.

there are two choices:

1) the 70th week was a period of 7 years (the last of the 70 prophesied, and followed the 69th without a break) which involved Jesus and Israel, and is complete (the fact that the judgment of Titus happened afterwards is pretty good evidence the 70th was complete:))

2) the 70th week is not complete - is some other combination of ideas - any of which involve a gap of 2000 years (or so).

And as to the gap thing:
The vision did not say consecutive but seventy weeks.
watcher...God is not the author of confusion.
if He meant to say that something would happen...then something else would happen way way later, He would have said so.
the very idea that He laid out a time and location specific prophecy for the most important event in history to date should make us take notice.

and be very careful about (for some reason unfathomable to me) cutting that time specific prophecy apart and shuffling it around. talk about changing times and seasons!:) whew.

Can you admit that it is possible that the vision compose of two events:
1- 7+62 : rebuilding of city up to messiah
2. 1 - destruction of city and sanctuary/ confirming the covenant.
the passages in question focus on the 70 weeks.
that's all about the Promise.

the destruction of Jerusalem is added because it is the closure of it all....when the indignation is complete.
the destruction of Jerusalem (Titus) is NOT within the 70 weeks.

it followed 40 years later.
it's NOT part of the 70 weeks.

as long as you keep that straight, of course i can agree the prophecy has two parts to it.

1) Jesus & The Promise
2) the destruction 40 years later by the people (Romans) of the prince who was to come - Titus.

The destruction of the city and sanctuary did not occured 3.5 years after crucifixion, so definitely another event if we consider that the vision talks about only of the 70 weeks.
answered above.

it's like this:

Hey Watcher:
Here's something i wanted to tell you about...we already talked about it briefly over coffee.
You are about to lose your home to the banks.
Your entire neighborhood is in the same predicament.

I agreed to bail you out, at no charge. I told you for years I would be there for you.

So, STARTING next week i will meet you at the coffee shop and we will arrange for you everything you need to survive,
and i'll help you with everything we discussed.

It will take exactly ONE YEAR for us to accomplish everything we need to do to save you.
when that YEAR is complete, everything i promised in order to SAVE you will be complete.

but i'm adding a warning and reminder that AFTER our YEAR (meaning, in the very next phase of time that follows one year - another year; the next year; the following year) the rest of the neighborhood will be foreclosed on, because they didn't want my help.

Because i have inside information - 'll even tell you that The Acme Eviction Company will come, which is owned by someone you don't know because he hasn't been made the CEO yet. i'm telling you this, even though you won't be there, because this is a PUBLIC RECORD of what is going to happen, so everyone will know, even those who never read it.

(too much coffeeeee)

Though, Jesus was the Lamb that take away the sins.
The Jews continued their daily sacrifice in the temple, until it finally ceased when the temple was destroyed in 70AD.
and?
was God pleased with or honoring those sacrifices after Jesus was sacrificed?

or was He PATIENT?

Who do I listen to? You or what scripture actually says?

Why are you so hesitant to listen to what scripture actually records??
Isaiah 45:13
I will raise up Cyrus in my righteousness: I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild my city and set my exiles free, but not for a price or reward, says the LORD Almighty."

Isaiah 44:28
who says of Cyrus, 'He is my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please; he will say of Jerusalem, "Let it be rebuilt," and of the temple, "Let its foundations be laid."

don't we know the actual date of the destruction of Jerusalem?
70AD right?

so it's clearly "2" events, but not really....the 70 weeks for restoring to the land; rebuilding; up goes the temple....HERE COMES JESUS....He SAVES....then LATER the rejecters and the city are destroyed.

we KNOW this as fact.
don't we:confused:

"The destruction of the city and sanctuary did not occured 3.5 years after crucifixion" - um...right.

why did we think it would be?
not clear.

Daniel 9
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

Under King Cyrus, they were allowed to return, they were allowed to rebuild the temple, and most likely parts of the City (places to live) but they were NOT allowed to rebuild the streets and walls......
okay....so how does Cyrus vs Artexerxes place a 2000 year gap in there?
i don't know.

and I think you would agree that the Lord is not lying about Cyrus regarding Jerusalem.

they can start at the corner...at the side or even at the heart of Jerusalem...in this case they started at the heart of Jerusalem "the Temple"

what you are trying to do is separate the temple from Jerusalem.

There are gaps in most of daniels prophesies.

Statue with 5 kingoms.

4 beasts. followed later by final beast (which is a more powerful 4th beast or rome)

All have a gap between the 4th beast or part of the statue, and the 5th. Why is there a gap? They all pertain to jerusalem, and the kingdoms who would be over her (starting with babylon) Jerusalem disappeared in 70 AD. thus no prophesy would apply since there was no Israel or jerusalem to conquer.

The later kingdom would again rule over Israel and City, as they have returned by some unknown reason, before they have confessed their lord, and this brings in the end to the gentile dominion over the city with the return of Christ.

Some people just do not want to see it. Because they do not want to Give Israel any means of return. The thought sickens them

You ignore the hitorical/biblical proof. And you expect me to listen?

Cyrus started the restoration with the temple. That is what those passages you are quoting refere to. But he did not give the command to restor Jerusalem. A temple with the city around it in ruins is no city at all. And that is what Nehemiah went to repair.

Just to add.. a huge thing to think of.

Did Jesus think his baptism was his time to be introduced as messiah to the people?

How many times did he say, "it is not my time"

If Jesus did not think it was his time to be introduced. Up until the time he sent his disciples to get the donkey, so he could enter in.

Then why should we think any different?

Daniel 9
24Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Isaiah 45:13

God even has sanctuary; sacrifice and oblation in there.
and there was no sanctuary when daniel was in babylon.

it's such a short passage with so much in it.
why can't we just read it? and leave it as it is.
determined for a specific time and purpose.

Jesus came and did everything in there promised.

if some people didn't receive the gift - does that make any of God's word of none effect?

Romans 3:3
What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?

Romans 10
As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

18But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for

“Their voice has gone out to all the earth,
and their words to the ends of the world.”

Hebrews 4:2
For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.

Cyrus said temple.. That is ALL we need to know

Jesus even understood it (it is not my time) up until he entered jersualem. as king

[SUP]12 [/SUP]The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, [SUP]13 [/SUP]took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out:
“Hosanna!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’[SUP][d][/SUP]
The King of Israel!”

[SUP]14 [/SUP]Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written:
[SUP]15 [/SUP]“Fear not, daughter of Zion;
Behold, your King is coming,Sitting on a donkey’s colt.”[SUP][e][/SUP]

Here is your "Messiah the prince" being introduced. this is the fulfillment of week 69. Here is your king Israel. Before this time, Jesus made it clear (my time is not yet) why? the time (of prophesy) had not yet arrived.. We were still in the 69th week!

But no.

we have to have it 3 1/2 earlier (can not even prove it was 3 1/2 years. Most believe it was just 3 years) so we are relying on facts not in evidence, And not proven by any means

We have him dieing in the middle of the week, When Gabriel said he would die immediately following, opr "after, at the end" of the 69th week

And we have some saying pentecost is the fulfilment. Yet his was done in a private room, with a few outdoors. and had nothing to do with the city. Orr the killing of Steven, Where just a few witnessed, and had absolutely nothing to do with the city.

"But my leaders who I have faith in tell me this is true, and a future 70th week can not be true, so I MUST listen to them"

Thats your choice. I will continue to listen to the evidence which can be proven, not the evidence which is shakey at best.

Israel has peace treaty with Egypt and Syria,
Which Peace Treaty it is and in which country?

It is not any of the peace treaties that are in effect today.

Daniel 9:27 is pointed at Daniel's 70th week (time of Jacob's trouble). And we will not be here for the time of Jacob's trouble.

[SUP]27 [/SUP]And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. - Daniel 9:27 (King James Bible)

The "he" that confirms the covenant with many for one week is the anti-christ. Therefore, Daniel 9:27 is about the covenant that the anti-christ will confirm and sign with Israel. So that they can start the rebuilding of the temple.
