Under this aspect, it is a TOTALLY free ride and to that I agree wholeheartedly.

All I wish to add to this already perfect explanation is that we are to walk with a single eye. That is, totally focused on God who is before us and leading.

Though you did not say it, yes, you did make sense. :)

Thank you for taking the time to explain in love to a fellow Brother your meaning.
you know, the more i see God's incredible love for me,
the more i want to follow Him.
2 Cor 5:14 says it's the love of Christ that controls/compels/constrains us.

as God gives me clarity on just how much i am loved...accepted in the Beloved...
i just want Him. :)
it's that love given in the amazing Grace of God that causes me to walk in His ways,
as you say, with a single eye. because who could want to look at anything but Jesus. ♥

i do love you, Chris.

ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh, sweet Sister, if you only knew how many times a day I ask God to give me more of His Love, how many times I simply say, 'Thank You', how many times I bow before God, dear Sister. Sometimes I think God gets bothered with all those "Thank You's". :)

The Love of God compels my soul to be pleasing to my God before me. Can't wait to see you in the Promised Land.....

Thank you for the beautiful words.

Love you also, Ellie.....

AGRICULTURE Part 1 of 2

210 Leviticus 23:22 - Reap not a whole field without leaving corners for poor.
And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.

211 Leviticus 19:9 - Not to gather ears of grain that fell during harvesting.
And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest.

212 Leviticus 19:10 - Not to gather the misformed clusters of grapes.
And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.

213 Leviticus 19:10 - Not to gather single fallen grapes during the vintage.
And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.

214 Deuteronomy 24:19 - Not to return for a forgotten sheaf.
When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

215 Leviticus 19:19 - Not to sow diverse kinds of seed in one field, kalayim.
Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.

216 Deuteronomy 22:9 - Not to sow grain or vegetables in a vineyard.
Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.

217 Leviticus 19:19 - Not to crossbreed animals of different species.
Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.

218 Deuteronomy 22:10 - Work not with two different kinds of animals together.
Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together.

219 Deuteronomy 25:4 - Muzzle not animal working field to prevent from eating.
Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

The following, from my morning readings, tantalizes and intrigues the mind, heart and soul. Does this apply directly to the OP? The stranger within the Gate of Israel is now Israel I believe. Those who were not yet have been and are now. It seems to lend more to the unity in Jesus Christ. Also, this excerpt from Deuteronomy declares it is not just for those present, but others.- It is a message of unity and filled with hope............I believe.

Deu 29:9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

Deu 29:10 Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,

Deu 29:11 Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:

Deu 29:12 That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:

Deu 29:13 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

Deu 29:14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
Deu 29:15 But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:

It has become abundantly clear to me that living outside the requirements of Covenant with Almighty God is equivalent to “holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.” 2 Timothy 3:5 (NAS). We have no excuse for failing to fulfill our part of the Covenant because “The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant.” Psalm 25:14 (NAS) and "Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent.” Acts 17:30 (NAS)

Think about how far the obligations of being a party to Covenant reach, even in secular history, let alone what God requires – we are bound by the nature of Covenant to bless one another because we are not in Covenant with God alone. The other parties are all other Christians everywhere. I don’t know about you, but I have just been convicted of being critical of others…and not just the unbelievers….

What the law really says to me is that the Father and Jesus, really love us, and want what is best for us, and know if we are left on our own, without guidance, we will destroy ourselves. So they gave us these laws for our benefit, not Their's, They already live by what They say. They want us to become what they made us to be, in Their image, after Their likeness.

Think about how far the obligations of being a party to Covenant reach, even in secular history, let alone what God requires –
we are bound by the nature of Covenant to bless one another because we are not in Covenant with God alone.
The other parties are all other Christians everywhere.
The New Covenant is unilateral, initiated and fulfilled by God alone, as was the land covenant.
Unilateral covenants are unconditional, and do not depend on the performance of the participants,
only on the performance of God, as in the
unconditional unilateral land covenant (Ge 15:9-21).
They are in the nature of an
unconditional promise from God.

The Old (Mosaic) Covenant was bilateral, initiated by God, and fulfilled by both God and the participants.
To remain in force, both the initiator and the participants have to fulfill
their corresponding terms of the covenant.
Because the covenant depends, is conditioned on the fulfillment of both parties,
if either side to the covenant fails to fulfill his terms, the covenant is broken and nullified.

The
unconditional unilateral New Covenant is:

I will put my law in their minds and (I will) write it on their hearts.
(God will cause them to obey willingly, there will be no failure to comply.)
I will be their God, and they will be my people.
I will forgive their wickedness and (I) will remember their sins no more
.

The unconditional unilateral New Covenant is fulfilled by God alone.
Those in an
unconditional unilateral covenant with God cannot break it,
as the people could not break the
unconditional unilateral land covenant (Ge 15:9-21).
Unconditional unilateral covenants are not conditioned on anything from the other party.

An
unconditional unilateral covenant remains in force, as did
the
unconditional unilateral land covenant, until God breaks it, or cancels it.

So the unconditional unilateral new covenant does not bind us to anything,
it binds only God to performance,

just as the
unconditional unilateral land covenant did not bind them to anything,
because an unconditional unilateral covenant is in the form of an unconditional promise from God.

God alone places one in the unconditional unilateral new covenant, and
God alone keeps one in that covenant,
by making them willing to obey,
as God alone placed the people in the
unconditional unilateral land covenant (Ge 15:9-21).

And God never breaks his
unconditional unilateral covenant with anyone.

what an interesting rule! there go most vegetable and flower gardens... I can see that God can sow mixed seeds in the same field... looks good when he does it, tho... and maybe that's the lesson... enjoy the fields that God plants...

The Law of the Old Testament can only be lined up with what is said in the New Testament. If you try to obey Laws that are not in the New Testament, then you are going backwards and not forward. The New Testament is a New Covenant that is made with God's people (To the Jew first and then to the Greek). Now, do not misunderstand me. Christians are not anarchists where they do not obey any laws whatsoever. The New Testament has it's own set of laws or commands. For even Paul said that what he had written to us was the Lord's commands (1 Corinthians 14:37), just as Jesus commanded us to do many things, too.

In other words, I would be more beneficial to see which Old Testament commands line up with the New Testament commands. But what about the other Old Testament commands that are not repeated in the New Testament? Are they just useless filler? No, they were fulfilled in Jesus Christ and they all point to Jesus Christ in some way so as to give Him the glory, honor, and power (Because He was able to keep the Law perfectly; Whereas we cannot keep it perfectly). I mean, you have to understand that the Law was a shadow of things to come. But if you try and go back into that shadow and obey the Law like in circumcising yourself as a requirement or as a nice option for your life, then you need to read Galatians chapter 3 again and ask God for the spiritual understanding when you read it.

Yes, some apostles obeyed the Law, but it was for the benefit to leading others to Christ. It was not because they felt it would please God in any way. The Law has been fulfilled in Jesus Christ and we have New Commands we are given. We are commanded to make disciples of all nations. We are commanded to love God and to love all people (Including our enemies). The New Covenant replaces the Old Covenant when Jesus died upon the cross. Read Hebrews 8-10.

to me, it says not to put a lot of effort into something, say, a flower bed, that God is already doing, and infinitely better... what does it say to you?

I believe that blessing is in realizing that the OT Law points to Jesus Christ. Focusing on the Old Law to obey is taking a step backwards and it is not about taking a step forwards in obeying the NT commands (Which at many times conflicts with OT Law). The Law we are to obey now is the Law of Christ (Galatians 6:2) or the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2), which is also called the royal law (James 2:8) that says we are to love our neighbor (Which fulfills the Law) (Romans 13:8-10).

We are not to follow the Law of Moses anymore. For those Laws were for the nation of Israel.

We are to obey...

We can't be double minded. We can't feed both the Spirit and our flesh.

Matthew 13:24-30
Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.25 But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away.26 But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also.27 The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’28 And he said to them, ‘An enemy has done this!’ The slaves *said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’29 But he *said, ‘No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them.30 Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”
