EVEN WORSE!

ONLY God deserves praise.

How do you know these saints can hear you? How do you know they are not dead?

Do you pray to the repose members of your congregation too?
If only God deserves praise, why are you pretending to be Strangelove?
It is not consistent with sound doctrine to bring in movie characters in a Christian forum.
You are treating a fictional movie character too seriously. It's completely strange indeed what you chose. You should just be yourself, don't you think?

This coming from someone who holds the words and books of men over the words of God?

My My scotty. sometimes you confuse me with the excuses you make to reject what someone is is trying to share with you. It is sad.

Dear friend,
Where do I hold the words and books of men over the words of God? How do I do that? Show me, if you know what you are talking about. All I said was the St. Photios' book explains John 15:26-27. Have you not read Acts 8:30-31? Was the Ethiopian eunuch wrong for asking St. Philip to explain the text to him, since, after all, St. Philip is a man?
You can know what the Bible says without 2000 years of Christian experience and history?
It all comes down to you alone with the Bible, and you get it all new and without any traditions? Then, why does your sola scriptura doctrine and tradition produce so many contradictory, competing doctrines of "what the Bible says", if the Bible is so easily read, interpreted, and understood by all Protestants? Why can't Protestants come up with a common creed? What need is there to, when the Orthodox Church already established the true Creed for all true Christians in Constantinople in 381 AD?
Saint Photios is not a teacher of "the traditions of men"; he is a God-bearing saint of God's true Church. So listening to him is not listening to a man; it is listening to God, since he knows the Bible and what the Bible means. We need men of God to tell us what the Bible means. We don't want to listen to heretics like Martin Luther, John Calvin, and pope John Paul II.
I hold the word of God over the traditions of men of the West. I believe what Jesus Christ said, in John 15:26, that the Holy Spirit "proceeds from the Father". Martin Luther, professing to go "by the Bible alone", also says, "who proceeds from the Father" AND THE SON, and the words "and the Son" are NOT "in the Bible alone". So there is hypocrisy among the first of the Protestant Reformers. The profess boldly "by the Bible alone", but they do not follow the Bible alone in their doctrine of the double procession of the Holy Spirit from both the Father "AND THE SON". Go figure!
God bless you. In Erie PA Scott R. Harrington

That is my name. Scott. 1960 is my date of birth. It is Scotth1960, by the way. I make no pretense.
Strangelove is not your birth name. Scott is my birth name.
You are barking up the wrong tree. There's no reason to call ourselves after silly Hollywood movie characters! If you just joke about everything, no one will take you seriously when you ARE trying to be serious!

I take Strangelove more seriously than I take you. Especially when you are asked serious questions and you mock people instead of answering their questions.

I'm not impressed with the way you're acting here Scott, for someone who's around 51 years old I would have expected a higher level of maturity.

Dear NitzWalsh,
Again, an baseless, pointless ad hominem argument. Remember, I don't attack Strangelove or you. So your making comments about my character are rather besides the point. I don't stand in judgment of other people. Why are other people critciizing me? Why are you talking about the way I am acting when I did not say anything about how you are acting? Yes, it does matter how we all conduct ourselves and how we act and behave responsibly. But we're not permitted by God to stand in judgment of one another. I don't judge you, even as I would not want to be judged. Please, then, dear sir! Why not just ... Respond to my words and to my doctrines, and judge them according to the Scriptures, and see what the Scriptures really mean. Show that your way of reading the Scriptures is the same way the original Christians of the first 1000 years of the Church read them. There was only one undivided Church until 1054 AD. The schisms and heresies in the one undivided Church did not lead to widespread divisions; these ancient heresies and schisms were all combated and defeated. Can't you do better than to question me personally? Question my teachings, don't question me. I don't question you. I don't make comments about your maturity, or try to get inside your head and psychoanalyze you. I don't make ad hominem arguments. Unfortunately, you are failing to be objective, and are taking an illogical, ad hominem approach. If you can't respond to a man's teachings, you respond to the man, and instead of dealing with the strengths or weaknesses of a man's teachings and doctrines, you question the man himself, and so divert attention away from your own doctrines, which are also up for interpretation, and either agreement, partial agreement, or outright rejection, depending on the nature and character of your doctrines/teachings. Whatever does not agree with the sound doctrines of all of the OT and NT Scriptures should be rejected (ejected) as non-Christian. God bless you. In Erie PA Scott R. Harrington August 2011 AD

You do so attack Strangelove, every time you criticize him for using a nickname on an internet forum.

I don't make up my own doctrines, I get what I believe from the bible as led by the Holy Spirit. If I need help figuring out what something means I won't be looking to the Eastern Orthodox church for answers, if I need someone to help me figure something out, I will look to someone who hasn't been corrupted by the false teachings and traditions of men. And I won't take what they have to say about it and just automatically believe, I will put it to the test... And that test has an answer key in the scriptures.

You did say something I agree with "Whatever does not agree with the sound doctrines of all of the OT and NT Scriptures should be rejected (ejected) as non-Christian." I just hope you can start doing that soon.

Scott1960 is not your name. You are deceiving the flock. Either change your username or be branded a liar.

(alternatively you could stop going on about it)

Unbelievable hypocrisy Scottmeister.
