So I just finished reading the Hobbit last night. What a delightful book! And not one of those things did I find that were mentioned in the OP.
I bought it for my son and then a number of years ago I read and very much enjoyed it.

Of course, the first installment of the movie about Hobbit is just a nightmare! Radegast on a skateboard? I doubt Tolkien had heard of them!! I do hate movies that do not follow the book!
I've seen the film, but I don't recall seeing -- a skateboard?

Tonight I start the LOR. For about the 20th time or so. I started back in high school - 1970 or so. Didn't really understand them that well, so no influence. Then I totally gave up all such "evil" fiction, because apparently it might pull me away from God and into the occult. (The 1980's was very dogmatic about some things in Christian circles!)
I've read it once and thoroughly enjoyed it. Twenty times you've read it? I did read read Macbeth three times in high school. The first time was a chore, the 2nd time was better, and the 3rd time I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are witches in it too you know. LOL.

I do hate blanket condemnation of whole things. My husband was like that. I wasn't allowed to watch or read an science fiction the first 10 years of our marriage. Strange how it never hurt me before I was a Christian. Then one day, I watched Star Trek the Next Generation. I found some very humanist teachings and a lot of interesting imaginative things.
I remember once loaning a book to a friend and she gave it back the next week saying her husband wouldn't allow her to read it. I couldn't imagine a spouse doing that. It must have been frustrating at times.

I didn't like Encounter at Farpoint, the first episode, and based on that never watched anymore till a friend suggested I give it another try a couple of years later, and I am glad he did.

Good point! I read the first Twilight book, it was really stupid, so now this is starting to make sense.
LOL! I like vampire movies and am a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. Love the humor in the series, but I haven't read or seen Twilight. I like the HBO series Blood, and was so enthralled I went out an bought the first two books the series was based on. Yuck! They're glorified romance novels. I only read the first book and then gave them away to a female friend. She thought the stories were great! Each to his/her own.

Twilight was not my thing. I read the books and didn't like them - didn't bother with the movies.

I wonder if the Twilight series influences people to become vampires and werewolves? Or not!!

I think it has something to do with being off antipsychotics for a couple days. I'll take some now and will be sleeping for the next several hours then.

Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Eph 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Discernment is a gift that is GIVEN, and works through the direction and ANNOINTING of the HOLY GHOST.
but if we go to GOD with answers concerning these things, when will we get his view of things?

Brother PRAUS, i have learnt something from your posts bro and keep them coming, the Lord will bring into my attention what i need to know as i read your posts..

Keep them coming!!...

and keep EXPOSING the works of the devil for what they truly are.

and i encourage you bro to keep reading Gods word and praying, you will see how much GOD will change you and prepare for you for even greater things.

always remember in all things, that HE has good thought towards, have faith never be discouraged, He is with you through the fire, the mighty wars, and all forms of attacks

God bless you much
