True, and then came along John the Baptist . . . who was even greater. :D Now that's a whole other mystery in itself! Love this Bible of ours.

In conclusion it represents equal consideration....not greater.

And . . . it would be difficult to make the conclusive decision that John was, in fact, "greater." However, there is a reason for why I believe that John [might] be greater (if it is possible, for Purity is Purity), and it has to do with the Baptism of John. His baptism "prepared the way," hence, those who received his particular baptism were enabled to believe, while those who did not remained in unbelief. That's pretty incredible.

Exactly. Hence, Colossians 2:9-10

Colossians 2:9-10 KJV - "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: . . ."

And if we read verses 11-15, we find out what action of Christ it is that makes a person blameless, complete, even-tempered, perfect, flawless, wholehearted and with integrity . . . all the words you used above. And THIS is the Gospel, for the Gospel is not a mere description, but it contains an explanation of its "mechanics."

Colossians 2:11-15 KJV - "In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 [And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it."

So as I have said before, it is not our behavior, or anything that we have done that makes us Righteous, Pure, and Holy, but it is the Work of Christ alone. Nothing else. What makes us Blameless is the Circumcision of Christ. Man, I really wish we could get this into our mouths as Christians. I really wish that our pastors would begin teaching the mechanics of the Gospel, instead of describing the Gospel by saying, "It's the Good News of Jesus Christ!" Or, John 3:16!

No, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is described AND explained through understanding the Purpose of Christ, the Work of Christ, and the Effect of Christ. Until we get these [3] things understood, the Gospel will never be fully comprehended. However, our pastors stop with the Purpose of Christ (John 3:16-17), but they do not include the Works of Christ, and if we do not include the Works of Christ, there is no way that we're being taught that there is an Effect of Christ, which is Romans 12:2 . . . Transformation of the Mind.

But . . . if we elect to not teach the Work and Effect of Christ, then everyone and everybody is allowed to call themselves "Christians" and buy off their security in the collection plate. By only allowing Circumicsed Christians to be members, no pastor would make a decent living; not even close.

I was not arguing the point I was exploring....to learn...because you seemed the point for John was important and I just wondered your reasoning.

Job probably was baptized...just not mentioned since God said He was a perfect servant. I don't think God would have issued that accolade had Job not been properly repented.

I'm sorry, but I hit "reply" to all that I saw. I didn't choose just one part. This is why I was pleased when you quoted all that you had wrote. I thought that when you did that, you were adding the rest of what you intended to post.

That's a great and legitimate question. My extremely short answer would be this: The Book of Job is a demonstration of Power, and not that of Satan, but that of God. The Lord, in His incredible Power, is able to control all events, including the restoration of Job and his belongings. This is the number one lesson to be gained from Job. From that point downward, that could be any number of explanations.

As said, this is the short explanation, but it is what I have to offer at this point.
How do you think Job's children felt about what happened?

Which children? His initial children were killed by verse 19 of chapter one. Or, are you referring to those who came after Job lost all things?

I should remind you that I have no way of knowing what anyone thinks, however, I can speculate based upon general terms.

thanks for the research, the end is particularly interesting "he was wholeheartedly trying to please God" with "wholeheartedly" and "trying"!
