If you know him, you will do the deeds. If you do nothing, your believing is meaningless.
I never said differently. Ephesians 2:10 addresses this as well. And I think it's great you are exhorting people to good works. But good works may be evidence of faith but not salvation. If your faith is in your works and not in the works that Christ has done, you may well not be saved. It is the object of your faith that is important.
Are you trusting in your works or Christ's?

Somebody please tell the op that a person must first come to salvation and the movie he is griping about is recorded as one of if not the greatest spiritual awakenings in history.

Some people seem to need to downgrade everything and everyone to their own peculiar understanding which, in this case, seems to be trying to make this movement of the Holy Spirit, all about how he would have done it.

Excruciatingly and painfully off the rails

You may be saved, but you will have no treasures in heaven. I've seen many people I know in church who go to services, bible studies and church functions, but you never see them in any kind of outreach helping those in need.

Why do think we need that kind of encouragement? It sounds like you think no one here has stepped up.

Who gives out the rewards? You maybe? You must think so if you already think no one does anything

Your understanding of scripture seems pretty sketchy. Scripture handpicked by yourself to underscore your opinion seems to be nothing more than virtue signaling in ignorance since you have no proof of a single thing you are saying regarding other people

You can't make this stuff up. It's like some poor dog thinking life will get better when it catches it's own tail

You're not the only one reading these posts. I encourage people to build up treasures in heaven, as Jesus said you should do. You do that by helping others in need. I'm sure you're going to see Christians in heaven walking around naked. They had no works or very little works.

Hmmm....Looking up some of your older posts, it seems you complain an awful lot. So why include the movie title in your op?

Do you have a problem with people feeling wonderful because they have met Jesus? Or that they enjoy worshipping Him?

I have not seen any encouragement in this op. We are not supposed to brag about whatever works qualify for your examination anyway.

smh

And there we have it. The actual reason for the op.

Do you personally follow all these people to know what you say to be true about every one?

Get a grip

I am telling people if you are not helping those in need, you will not have any treasures in heaven. I was very much involved in ministries in the church. Very few of the people I knew were there were involved in ministres.

Interesting it appears you're not for encouraging or warning people to build up treasures in heaven. But you seem to have time to criticize me for doing it.

You can do something as simple as keeping a cooler filled with drinks and snacks. Give them to the homeless holding up signs. You don't even have to get out of your car.

Oh yes. You have made that plain.

You are keeping track of what is really not your business. Got it.

Hey ~ you wrote the op under an assumed interest. Turned out to be clickbait.

Oh I think you should get out of your car and witness to those people. Snacks never saved anyone. You have to lead them to Christ.

FYI, the Jesus Revolution is about an entire generation coming to Christ and a good number of godly ministries came out of that movement. It was a genuine move of the Holy Spirit. This thread is not.

You are disingenuous IMO

Gonna just leave now and don't let me stop you from continuing with your observations on other Christians. Good thing God has people like you to take notes for Him.

Matthew 6:19-21 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth..." "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal.

You work to build up treasures in heaven. Jesus paid the price for your salvation, but your treasues depend on YOU.

Most of Jesus Revolution is fiction. It's Greg Laurie's version of the Jesus movement, not the real story.

Connie Frisbee’s surprising reaction to ‘Jesus Revolution’ movie
Yup. There is a lot of embellishing.

I know there has been a recent wave but from what I've seen its got a whole lot of emotionalism.. which is also part of the Jesus revolution.

'clouds without water'

Not saying that no one got saved.. but what were they learning following conversion? That God is a drug?

JohnB,
the moment you enter into Heaven, how many people you know/don't know/was merely affected by your Witness for God will be standing there to Thank You for being the example that caught their attention to follow God?

is the post about the Jesus revolution movie
I havent seen it but my friends did see it, they said was ok

I dont know really much about it. My friend said it was about Greg Laurie starting a hippie movement about Jesus in the 70s but that was before my time so I cant say I experienced that era

As far as I know the Vineyard churches tend to rent spaces on Sunday to meet up and play in their bands, but I was never really into the whole 'rock church music' vibe.

I am not sure if the hippies actually helped the needy, hippies tend to be rich people living like poor people in their own closed off communes, maybe they did visit people in prison, I dont know...but they must have gotten off the drugs somehow

Some got off drugs, others didn't. A lot of them kept right on taking drugs. There was an element within the Jesus people who felt it was their mission to turn every single person on to LSD. That's how world peace would be accomplished—Jesus + LSD. For may of them it wasn't about Jesus really; Jesus was just a means to an end.

really.
Thats terrible. What was so great about LSD?
The drugs young take now are marijuana, synthetic cannabis, crystal meth. Richer people take cocaine, crack...ecstasy ...all drink alcohol.

Why was everyone on drugs? JUst about every young person these days is exposed to them, its become part of the culture, and smoking cigarettes is just been replaced by vaping. If you go to a doctor, they will give you some form of heroin/morphine/painkillers. Mothers give their babies drugs...its even in their breastmilk. So everyone just grows up immersed in it.

My hunch is that many children with ADHD problems were exposed to chemicals/powerful drugs in the womb and at birth.
I have several ADHD children at school and they are constantly wired and cant focus on anything for more than 30 seconds. That is why many are addicted to video games now...robots/computers have replaced parental affection. It keeps them occupied but they then have a relationship with a device that becomes a drug to them.

We don't all have cars.
You have mentioned several times that you hand out junk food to homeless people and you think others are lacking spiritually
because they don't (you assume) do the same.

Matt 6 (NKJV)

“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you.
