And your perspective is noted and I thank you for that.

From my perspective.........

No, the Lord Jesus Christ does not say so.
Yes, He does. Read the word, believe the word, and study.

Mark 16:17-18
And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; [SUP]18 [/SUP]they[SUP][a][/SUP] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Luke 9:1
Jesus called the twelve apostles together and gave them power and authority over every demon and power and authority to cure diseases.

Luke 10:8-9
Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. [SUP]9 [/SUP]And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’

Luke 10:19
I have given you the authority to trample snakes and scorpions and to destroy the enemy’s power. Nothing will hurt you.

John 14:12
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

1 John 4:17
Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.

The same power that raised Jesus from the grave is in those who believe in Him. It's JESUS' PERSPECTIVE that matters. It's OUR JOB to take on His perspective, which brings honour and glory TO HIM.

Yes, yes it was your argument.

You've been saying over and over and over...
how things on Youtube were essentially stupid and useless.

You ridiculed everyone for using Youtube.

You did this incessantly as a way to "shame and deflect",
so you don't have to deal with the CONTENT of videos you dislike.

In fact, you kept doing that, over and over, to SHUT EVERYONE UP,
until the very moment I pointed out that your argument was illogical and silly.

Now you suddenly want to go back and change everything you said.

Going back and trying to change what you said...
isn't that something politicians always do whenever they get "caught"?
Don't we have a term for that?
I've changed nothing...you just don't like my opinion. Oh well. We all have them, and some are closer to the truth of the matter than others. Using shamelessly edited, biased videos to make a slanderous accusation is completely juvenile, when a proper, intelligent discussion could be more fruitful. They are loud, garish and incendiary, and everybody knows it.

I will always hold this position about the poor judgment of using them to make points like this. It's immature.

Your perspective noted. And thank you.

From my perspective.........

This guy is instrumental in today's faulty notion that men do have the authority over sickness.

Your lack of knowledge in the word tells me 1) you are cesssationist 2) those MEN have you twisting Jesus and his TESTIMONY....DO YOU NOT REALIZE YOU ACTUALLY ATTACK THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS???

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
9 So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

I AM NOT OFFENDED JESUS THAT YOU ORDAINED AND COMMANDED YOUR FOLLOWERS TO THE SAME TESTIMONY AS YOURSELF.

...... You need to produce a full teaching and then as Christians should, discuss it sanely.
How does anyone "discuss it sanely" with someone who states dogmatically
" I have very strong discernment, as well as the gift of discerning of spirits."

That you want to make it personal is a deflection. That you have discerning people in your midst and you denigrate them is a slap in the face of God. It's your prerogative to accept the truth of the word or reject it. I choose to accept what God says.

You mean the word of "Fancy Nancy" surely.
See what happens? People get ornery and speak like the devil when confronted with even a little truth. You have nothing to say of any value, so you heap personal attacks on others. How obvious of you.

God's word is truth.

Gee that sounds a bit like a 'personal attack', dear Nancy :D

But see, I have very strong discernment, as well as the gift of discerning of spirits so I know I am always right ...... lol

Here's the message I'm getting here:

Touch not God's anointed.

In other words, don't question my doctrines or underlying theology. If you do, you're opposing God, or you don't understand scripture, or you haven't received the special understanding that I have.

Personally, I don't have a dog in the whole gifts of the Spirit vs. cessationist fight. I do, however, find it interesting how people react when legitimate issues are raised regarding certain television preachers. One wonders if a John MacArthur thread was started if these same people who doggedly defend certain television preachers would step to his defense.

I honestly don't get how any human is above questioning. I particularly don't get why people who have significant responsibilities and handle enormous sums of money are somehow above questioning. Doesn't God ultimately defend and honor those who do his will (consider Joseph)? A person who has integrity never fears scrutiny.

Actually I'm a discerning person. You denigrate yourself. No one has done a better job at it in this thread then you have

And that, will be my personal comment of the day to a deserving master of the sarcastic here in the wonderful world of Christian Conundrum and you will be pleased to know it was not a difficult choice.

BTW, saying God's word is truth does not at all create heavenly credentials for your comments.

Telling ANYONE in this thread that they are heaping personal comments, when you are the undisputed queen of nasty here, displays an arrogance that is unmatched in most Christian forums I have frequented over a span of about 8 years

No I won't reply to you...it's boring already...your caustic comments are expected but believe me, rejected...by a wider sphere then your little world allows. You've got a run on mouth that really needs a rest.

now now...don't go all intelligent on us

the arrogance of those who think they are untouchable or that God speaks to them on a different level than the rest of us, warrants a closer examination of Paul's thorn in the flesh

Perhaps a thorn in the flesh would suffice to take that type of personality, down for the pedestal they have built for themself

It worked for Paul...however, his experience was real...I might be excused for concluding that the rare air between the ears of some creates a total disregard for reality in their quest for ever more goosebumps, visions and 'words' from the prophets of god (little g)

And just think...I am not a cessationist but I surely do wish some of these folk would cease

That's quite a mean-spirited lie right there, ember.

Puffed up much?

I am not in search of "heavenly credentials", but as a follower of Jesus Christ I speak the truth. Do you not believe that God's word is truth? Can you not find something really in error to criticize?

Ditto, ember. You started it. I am really comforted to know that you "really mean it". The last thing we need in this forum is fluffy insincerity.

As for not being invited to your hoime, wouldn't it be funny to discover that you were actually my neighbour?? LOL!

Yeah, you started it here, today---getting all personal and insulting. I suggested that outside of knowing what one is talking about one might just be a twit. I didn't call anyone a twit, directly, and that was quite a little while ago, and you are still hanging on that? No...there is another reason why you are acting the way you do and I think it is the pack mentality here. If the clique wasn't an influence, we'd have far more camaraderie.

Self-righteousness travels in packs, sometimes. It ain't purty.

You know, we are told to clothe ourselves with kindness, compassion, humility, gentleness and patience. I see almost NONE of that here. All I see is people wanting to be right more than wanting to get the truth out, and some people shouldn't point to others and call them self-righteous. Especially, when they are acting the exact same way.

Correct, Elizabeth. We all tend toward it at times, and need to rein ourselves in when we see it. It is important for us to realize that threads with this kind of poisonous theme are ROOTED in self-righteousness.

However, there is self-righteousness here, and it does benefit to have it pointed out. God will do the convicting about it if one is open to hear Him.

Is it wrong to just completely go off on someone? Because if not I am about to.
