Correction: the LOVE of money is the root of evil...not money in and of itself...Please make sure you understand that...and if and when you do..then realize that 'rich' in some countries means you have an extra pig and chicken in your back yard. Nowhere do I understand that GOD abhors RICH..in fact, He supplies our needs and gives us blessings that others may see as "RICH" but they are just insecure financially and way below sea level on spiritual understanding.

You don't have to argue, just believe the words of the Lord. :)

Well sadly, like I thought, you actually cannot discuss the op

Instead, you would like to discuss me

Sorry, I am not interested

Just so.

God Himself grants riches to some...and you bring up a very important interesting fact stating that what is rich to some in other countries has nothing to do with how we here in North America see wealth

God does indeed supply our needs....

I thank God that I live in a part of the world where we have so much...I'm not wealthy, but it is ridiculous to try and tell someone who is wealthy, that they are going to hell because they have that wealth

It is this constant judging the heart of other's that is badly misunderstanding what the scritures state.

There are also many, many people who don't have a dime to their name and have the love of money.

Is money our slave?
Or are we slaves to our money?

That's a provocative statement and I believe it's true!

Is it the desire to buy or be equal to rich folks?

Are we slaves to a world system we are not supposed to be a part of?

and then, acknowledge God does indeed bless with wealth as well...not everyone and not all the time

The desire to find happiness in wealth. Its not there. Solomon and The book of Ecc. teaches this. He was the bill gates of his day and he was miserable. and tried all his happiness experiments.

A poor person can't tell us that money won't make you happy. But a rich person sure can.

The love of money for a poor person is trying to find happiness in gaining more of it.

It doesn't matter how much we have. Are we content with what we have? We can have a little or a lot,but being content is the key.

I can attest to why I am not wealthy at this point in my walk........I don't have the capacity to have a lot of money. I wouldn't know how to handle it.

But you are 100% correct. we are all wealthy. Even for the scumbags that milk welfare(Some are legit.)

well I agree...but again, who gave Solomon his wealth?

seems Solomon went in pursuit of many things...because of his wealth or because of his position?

Solomon asked for wisdom...but we might ask if he used it as he should have....?

God gave Solomon his wealth. I believe Solomon had the capacity to handle the wealth, but he was not happy in his wealth.......His wisdom that God gave Him was the source of Solomon's happiness. He left it.

There are a whole lot of points and whole lot of conversations we can have about Solomon.

The only point I was focused in on was Solomon was not using His God given wisdom, and He was arguably the wealthiest man who ever lived........and He was miserable and on a frantic search for happiness.

And His conclusion...........God.

And Ember, you ask solid questions to ponder. One of the reasons I am here. I ain't smart enough to question a lot of things.

Jesus said it, not me. Your issue seems to be with Jesus' words not mine. :)

Baloney. You took what Jesus said completely out of context. If money itself was "unrighteous" Jesus would not have commanded His followers to render unto Caesar his due. Or to give money to the poor. Or to support Church leaders financially.

And again, if you truly believed money itself was "unrighteous" you, being a staunch legalist, would not use it or possess it, lest you be a hypocrite.

No doubt and I agree.......I live on 40 acres in Missouri, my house is paid for, I have food, clothing and shelter...a nice 4 wheel drive truck..decent health, still breathing and numerous friends.....wealth beyond 90 percent of the population possibly......thanks for the perspective!

Friends, Chatters and People who Want to Know

Is the title of this thread actually true?

Someone in another thread made this statement and I thought it was a catchy thread title

so, is anyone honest? have you read I Tim 6? are you rich? do you serve God?

let's have some honest discussion here...

if you feel like it, you may also comment on the use of the word 'honest' as it appears in the title, because it
seems to imply that if you do not agree with that statement/title, then, you are not honest...hmmmmm
GOD blesses us to be a blessing.

If you are constantly giving to help GODs work then GOD is going to provide for you because he knows your heart and he knows that you are not saving everything you get and putting it in the bank and keeping it in the bank

but seek his righteousness and all these things will be added to you.

You sort of have to define "rich." I've published some eBooks and would love to sell millions of each. That would earn me a lot of money. Hopefully I would be generous in my giving, but some might view me as rich. That doesn't mean I can't serve, does it?
