Hanging around dead people is an occupational hazzard if your an undertaker. As for the other part of the question
one would have to steer clear of women altogether just in case.

There is a difference in sinning and being unclean. Being unclean is not a sin. If it were, Jesus' mother sinned by giving birth to Him because,

"And when the days for their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what was said in the Law of the Lord, “A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”
Luke 2:22--24

Did she sin? I think not.

The one that completely baffles me is why a woman is considered unclean for longer after delivering a daughter!
I think it might have something to do with double the female impurity for the mom and the daughter.

As a husband, I prefer having sons so my wife isn't unclean as long. (Wait, did I say that out loud?)

How often did the priests come in contact with the unclean when they offered sacrifices? How about when they went outside the camp to inspect the lepers? But it's never mentioned that they became unclean. Why? Because they were priests doing God's work.

Who is our high priest? Jesus.
Where does He live? In us.
Are we priests? Yes.
