11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Is this scripture true ?
.. I don't claim I'm anything but blessed, saved through faith in Jesus and that I've believed the Word since day 1, minute 1 .. There's people I've met that have testimony of Jesus so miraculous they have to hide from most Christians to share it, jus sayin .. I have some myself that I'm still not sure of but I saw and experienced them myself .. No way I'd post them on any message board .. I look for miracles all the time in all ways, whether they all are or not Jesus gets the credit and thanks just the same .. I do not live for miracles but it's nice to know they're available ..

I'm not going to argue this anymore, but it's obvious Paul was drafted AND he didn't beg for any spiritual office of Apostle. In fact, he participated in the murder of God's people.

But, in the free-willer Bizarro world, I suppose you can't make sense of that :)

Reformed theology is glorious.

GOD IS SOVEREIGN. HALLELUJAH!!!!
Paul had a zeal for the Lord since he was a child as his own writings say. So he had the desire to serve God, but since he was raised as a Pharisee he was misguided until Jesus made straight his path.

All that is a moot point even since Paul tells what it takes to be an apostle and tells us to covet which gift we want most. Additionally, Lord Jesus stated there'd be apostles after him. We see this immediately in the book of Acts with Matthias appointed to fulfil the number of the 12 Elders, taking the traitor Iscariot's place, and Paul and Barnabas also becoming apostles and delivering the Gospel to the European Gentiles.

As for this or that doctrine, the Bible needs no reforming, destiny, the will of God, will be accomplished and cannot be changed. The Bible, written by holy men of God trumps the doctrines of the dead men that came way later and fell into the same trap that fallen Israel made by trying to make their man made doctrines make the word of God to no effect. Beware the leaven of the Pharisee and Sadducees as Lord Jesus warned.

The position that a man can desire the office of apostle and prophet, and then they receive it, is crazy to me.

It sounds like Simon Magus' worldview, from Acts 8.

No, Simon Magus attempted to buy the power of God, he wasn't really interested in serving God. God is not for sale.

The position comes 1 Corinthians 12:31 written by the apostle Paul as posted previously. It's not so much oh you wish for it so you get it, it's more like you're going to serve God anyways, covet the best gifts of God so that you can be the most use to the Kingdom of God.

I don't agree. I believe God equips those that he decides to use for a particular purpose, and this was decided prior to their calling. He has specific works prepared for them to do. Ephesians 2:8-10.

Obviously, though, I deny the offices of apostles and prophets exist today. I think the people who claim them are glory-hogs who want to strut about proclaiming their authority over others. I was a member of a cult that was led by an individual who made similar claims, and I see similar mentalities within charismatic leaders.

The apostles and prophets were foundational to the apostolic church (Eph 2:20). I deny any modern day apostles and prophets. If they claim those offices, I reject them as sound Christians. They may be some spiritual babies that need to drop off the milkers, but I reject them as sound, mature Christians. They may even be false converts.

Apostles are sent with prophecy .God existing living word . God is still sending people with the gospel if the church is apostolic form the first day he sent Abel to bring the gospel to Cain . He is also the first recorded martyr.

Apostle sent one. . with no other meaning added.
