  1. For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
    - Romans 5:17
  2. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
    - 2 Corinthians 5:21
  3. ...that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection...
    - Philippians 3:8–10
  4. But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works.
    - Romans 4:5–6
  5. For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
    - Romans 4:13
  6. ...so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    - Romans 5:21
  7. Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
    - Isaiah 41:10
  8. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
    - Romans 4:3
  9. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.
    - Psalm 5:12
  10. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
    - Psalm 34:19
  11. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
    - Matthew 6:33
  12. Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death. The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish, but He casts away the desire of the wicked.
    - Proverbs 10:2–3
  13. Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
    - Proverbs 10:6–7
  14. The labor of the righteous leads to life, the wages of the wicked to sin.
    - Proverbs 10:16
  15. The fear of the wicked will come upon him, and the desire of the righteous will be granted.
    - Proverbs 10:24
  16. The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.
    - Proverbs 10:28
  17. The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not inhabit the earth.

  18. In the way of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death.
    - Proverbs 12:28
  19. Evil pursues sinners, but to the righteous, good shall be repaid. A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

There is no conflict between Eph 2:8-10 and Jsa 2.
Amen! No conflict at all. The harmony of Ephesians 2:8,9 and James 2:24 is seen in the differing ways that Paul and James use the term "justified." Paul, when he uses the term, refers to the legal (judicial) act of God by which He accounts the sinner as righteous. James, however is using the term to describe those who would show the genuineness of their faith by the works that they do.

Man is saved through faith and not by works (Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5; 2 Timothy 1:9); yet genuine faith is vindicated, substantiated, evidenced by works (James 2:14-24). So it is through faith "in Christ alone" (and not by the merits of our works) that we are justified on account of Christ (Romans 3:24; 5:1; 5:9); yet the faith that justifies is never alone (solitary, unfruitful, barren) if it is genuine (James 2:14-24). *Perfect Harmony.*

James is discussing the proof of faith (says-claims to have faith but has no works/I will show you my faith by my works - James 2:14-18), not the initial act of being accounted as righteous with God (Romans 4:2-3).

There is one real question, "Have you repented and accepted Christ forgiveness through the cross?"

If the answer is yes, and you have work through all your known sins, turned from them and walk
in love and Gods ways you are righteous, clean, Holy, mature, a saint in the Kingdom.

Many will claim this is impossible, but they are disbelievers who do not have faith in the power of
the cross and the forgiveness of our sins.

Once you are forgiven and washed, the past is washed away and forgotten.
We are not struggling to avoid certain things, but striving forward to learn how to love and think
the best of others and see how we can serve.
PeterJens, you are not far from the Kingdom of God.

i recognize the Spirit of Truth teaching when i see them. You have done well to pray to God for understanding all those years, and even better to believe the answers that were given to you by the Spirit.

According to the Spirit,I'm the righteousness of GOD but I still sin.someone might ask,how can you be saved then If you still sin?answer=I'm no longer under law but I'm now under grace.
Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

The answer is NO we shall not continue in sin.

Joh_5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Joh_8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

1Pe 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

Is SIN evil or good? So then the face of the Lord is against them that continue to live in sin. YES that is TRUE.

1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him (claim to be Christian), and walk in darkness (sin is darkness), we lie, and do not the truth: But IF(CONDITIONAL) we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

When does His Blood cover us from all sin? When we do NOT walk in darkness and Walk in the Light as Jesus Christ walked in the light, that is when a person is covered by His Blood.

1Jn 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
(Those who willingly commit sin i assure you the wicked one has touched them)

1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (Those who do NOT Love One Another, are not of God no matter how much they claim to believe in Jesus.)

1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

1Co 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. (Apostle John teaching us to NOT SIN) And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (If you do sin, and Truly Repent, that is, YOU NO LONGER CONTINUE TO DO THAT SIN, then you can be forgiven for that sin, but if you continue to do that sin, how are you TRULY sorry for that sin, if you continue to commit that sin without ever ceasing from it. Repentance is given to a person who Truly Repents and ceases from the very thing they are repenting of)

2Pe 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

Are you one of those who believes and teaches that you can't cease from sin? You can. i do. But you can't do it without the Power and Strength of Jesus Christ helping you.

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

There you have it. Scriptures teach that every single temptation that comes upon you. It is not so strong that you can't handle it. AND with every single temptation that comes upon you, Jesus allows a path out of it for you. So then when you are tempted to commit a sin, look for that path out of it that Jesus provided for you. But how many in this generation would rather just commit the sin because they WANT to commit that sin, repent afterwards, knowing full well they will continue to do that very sin that they LOVE to do. This generation better wake up and learn to start HATING SIN.

Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Yet another verse teaching us to get sin out of your life. These are but a few verses which teach us to STOP SINNING. Woe to this generation who believes they don't have to, that believing in Jesus is enough, and they do not have to get rid of the sin that so easily besets them. They do not have to Love One Another, just as long as they claim they believe in Jesus.

Sin is evil. Jesus dies because of sin. Your Master is who you choose to obey. When you are tempted to commit a sin. Jesus is telling you "Don't do it, it is sinful, take the path that I have given you" satan is telling you "Just do it, you can't lose your Salvation, just repent every time you do it, go ahead, no harm, no foul, have fun, just do it, repent later for it" WHO YOU OBEY IS YOUR MASTER!!!!!

Unless one understands what it means to Awake to Righteousness .... one cannot understand sin not

Sin consciousness does not produce Godliness,

Was listening to a message today on Romans 8:2
[SUP]
2 [/SUP]For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.

And will post it on the thread about the old and new covenant and how the 10 commandments need to be seen in the proper perspective of the new covenant.

Many Christians are still walking according to the old covenant of law trying to establish their own righteousness when in fact Jesus has given us His righteousness and established us in Him.... as UnderGrace is trying to remind Disciple Dave in the above post here.

Will post Romans 8:1-17 specifically looking at verse 1 and 2. The reason there is therefor now NO condemnation is because of verse 2... for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has SET YOU FREE from the law of sin and death. I wish believers here would step over that bar and over to the new covenant that makes the old covenant of law obsolete. But I must warn you., even when we do., we are always going to be tempted to go back to the old mindset that is established in the law to DO in order to BE righteous in Christ.
We have to keep going back to the truth that ONLY Christ makes us righteous before God.

Even when we read verses that seem to contradict the truth of Christs imputed righteousness., we have to apply the finished work of the Cross each and every time.

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.

[SUP]2 [/SUP]For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.

[SUP]3 [/SUP]For what the law could not do, [SUP][a][/SUP]in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of [SUP][b][/SUP]sinful flesh [SUP][c][/SUP]and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

[SUP]4 [/SUP]that the [SUP][d][/SUP]ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

[SUP]5 [/SUP]For they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

[SUP]6 [/SUP]For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace:

[SUP]7 [/SUP]because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be:

[SUP]8 [/SUP]and they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

[SUP]9 [/SUP]But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. But if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

[SUP]10 [/SUP]And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness.

[SUP]11 [/SUP]But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwelleth in you, he that raised up Christ Jesus from the dead shall give life also to your mortal bodies [SUP][e][/SUP]through his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
[SUP]

12 [/SUP]So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh:

[SUP]13 [/SUP]for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the [SUP][f][/SUP]deeds of the body, ye shall live.

[SUP]14 [/SUP]For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

[SUP]15 [/SUP]For ye received not the spirit of bondage again unto fear; but ye received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

[SUP]16 [/SUP]The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God:

[SUP]17 [/SUP]and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him.

Unless one understands what it means to Awake to Righteousness .... one cannot understand sin not

To sin not, is to awake to righteousness. A person is tempted to sin, and does not do it, has awoke to righteousness, they have obeyed Jesus which is saying "don't do it" Awake to righteousness means to start doing that which is righteous and sin not.

Sin consciousness does not produce Godliness,
Sin consciousness lets us know what is sinful, conviction makes us do something about it, unless of coarse we ignore the conviction of the sin, do that enough times, and then you have a reprobate mind, which no longer is convicted by that particular sin.

If you think you can stop sinning by self effort then again you have not understood the Divine influence of Grace in the life of the believer which is awaking to the righteousness within...... and that righteousness is Jesus
Nobody can stop sinning without Jesus Christ. NOBODY. Nobody can stop sinning through self effort. We, in the flesh, want to sin, we love to sin. We have the sin nature, we desire to sin, we enjoy sinning. It is ONLY through the Power and Strength of Jesus Christ that a person can overcome those temptations, Truly it is supernatural. Jesus helped me quit smoking, Jesus helped me quit cussing like a sailor (military), Jesus helped me with my anger issues, Jesus helped me with pornography, Jesus helped me with my pride, Jesus helped me with vanity, Jesus helped me with lusting, Jesus helped me to Love One Another, enemies included. Jesus helped me be celibate (no desire for sex). Jesus helped me with every single temptation that satan throws at me. i now do all things to please Jesus Christ, i do not obey any temptation from satan, i could not do it without Jesus, nor can anyone do it without Him. PERIOD. He is my Strength and Power against satan and his wiles, his temptations.

Every scripture you have posted below in context is teaching this...the life that is hid in Christ ...He in us and us in Him
True, and i have never said otherwise.

Not so long ago I was first introduced to what that means even though I've been a believer since 1982. It's being IN Christ having Jesus be "our Person" standing in "for us". After that, it's a daily journey about seeing just how much Jesus actually stands in for us. Many Christians are like I was and still proceeded a head in life in and about "self"

When we were not saved., Adam was our stand-in guy. We went before God in Adam and were not even in God's beloved family. So all our righteousness's were as filthy rags. We didn't even do anything but be born and live and become aware of God. We didn't do any good things or bad things we were just in Adam and outside of Christ. So when we heard the Gospel of our salvation that Jesus went on the cross on our behalf and died shedding His blood we learned He paid for all our sins making us totally worthy to go before the Father and to be recipients of His grace and truth forever after.

I was reading yet again of how majorly important the knowledge of being righteous IN Christ is. Actually I read it daily and because it is so shockingly unearthly I often forget it in my human self if I don't read it daily and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to my spirit that I am a son of God. But the Bible says to be aware of Christ's obedience at the cross. Most of us are living lives of being aware of our own obedience.

We have been taught to look at 'our' obedience and it has become a religious past time. Actually it is fought about among people who are Christians every day. I see it on these forums on CC all the time and actually whenever I come here the forums are slathered with believers who fight to look at their own righteousness and want others to look at their own righteousness. And even believe it's unholy to look to Christ's obedience and not our own as our pass port to God's hand in everything we are and do in our lives here while on earth.

In reading yesterdays devotional it reminded me yet again and I neeed to be reminded again and again because in my humaness I am distorted and negative. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:5

Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

That verse does not mean as most of us have been taught from day one in our Christian lives to cast down arguments and evil things by learning to think like Jesus. No., that comes later. What that verse does mean is when we fail., when life is fearful and when things in this world become and are overwhelming bigger than our ability to fix in all areas of our lives personally., corporately and universally., the answer is to bring our thoughts into captivity and think instead about the obedience of Christ. Romans 5:19 says;

For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.

Many of us continue to be mislead into thinking it's by our obedience we have been made righteous. I see the devil do this all the time with people of faith. he wants us to look at ourselves and then he can freely condemn us because who knows better than us how loathsome we really are? Yet., because we are not IN Christ and 100% righteous and 100% IN the family now we are no longer our standard. Adam is no longer our standard bearer. Jesus is. There is no condemnation to those who are IN Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1-2 Because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

This truth will free the persons who take it to live a life of faith. And in that we will bear a lot of fruit because it's the fruit of the Spirit not the fruit of the flesh. In living by the Spirit we will be walking testimonies of what Jesus has done in our lives and the good works come as an effect of our right standing IN Christ. Not our right standing in ourselves.

I hope to challenge many here in the Bible forum to consider this and see how different your Christian life will be when you are actually looking to Jesus who is the Author and Finisher of our faith.

We talk so much about being in Christ, we must not forget God. Don't get distracted by the messenger.
To really obey Jesus we have to do what he taught us.
