Jesus meant his OWN life not someone elses, so to try and use that as justification for killing someone is competely opposite of what Jesus meant! Did Jesus kill anyone? Nope. did Jesus lay down his own life..yes! He was killed by others.

Some people just dont have the logic to figure that out methinks.
That is a fair response. I guess with war, it seems like one is laying His life on the line, laying it down, knowing what could happen. But Yes, 100% right, He sacrificed and did NOT kill anyone in the process, that is VERY DIFF. Plus as you say they killed horribly an innocent man. Good point, very gd point Lanolin.

I don't find permission to kill in new covenant, for follower of our Lord Jesus. Our Lord was the example for us, and he could resist his death, by asking angles to kill those who was captured him but he did not.

like it is written in
1 SAM. 15:33.
And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women.
And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before The LORD in Gilgal.

All of the apostles were killed, they were maytred. They did not kill anyone.

This is what sets apart a believer, a christian, from a non believer, non believer think its ok to kill.

.
I see you are one of those who will just stand there and allow an evil person to rape or kill your wife or daughter.
Just how Christian is that.

Paul before conversion killed people.

Since we do not have a complete history of each one's life, it is just an argument from silence and means nothing.

While we can have more confidence in the martyrdoms of apostles such as Peter, Paul and James the brother of John (and probably Thomas and Andrew), there is much less evidence for many of the others (such as Matthias and James, son of Alphaeus). This evidence is late and filled with legendary accretion. This may come as a disappointment to some, but for the sake of the resurrection argument, it is not critical that we demonstrate that all of them died as martyrs. What is critical is their willingness to suffer for their faith and the lack of a contrary story that any of them recanted.http://magazine.biola.edu/article/13-fall/did-the-apostles-really-die-as-martyrs-for-their-f/

I have a question for anyone who wants to tackle it. I have heard different ideas and answers to this question, but I would like to hear other's thoughts. Just for the record, I am not sure what the true answer is, nor if it is for us to fully understand why.... please this is not meant to start up arguments, just to get different views on the topic

Question: God has made it clear to us that we are not to kill one another. If this is so, why is it ok for our justice system to give the death penalty as a sentence for crimes, and why is it ok for our soldiers to kill in a war?
It is not okay, for if a Christian is not to verbally abuse when verbally abused, and not to physically abuse when physically abused, and not to hurt, and not to kill, to be right with God, then the world cannot do it for they will be judged for such things, for all must meet the conditions of the saints to be right, and justified in the eyes of God.

Jesus is the standard for the world to be right with God, and that is all there is to it, and anything contrary to that is not justified in the eyes of God.

There is no justification for the death penalty, and there is no justification for war, not at all.

And God may use the heathen to put down the wicked, but they will be judged for doing so, but He will use them for their fleshy ways, but all the while they are not right with God, and anybody not right with God is wrong.

An example is Babylon when God used them to go against Israel when they were rebellious, and to lead them captive to Babylon because they were disobedient to God, but even though God allowed it to happen because Israel was disobedient He said that He would also go against Babylon for going against His people.

So God might allow nations, and people to go against those that are wicked, but He will still go against those people for acting that way, for God did not ordain it, but he allowed it, and they will be judged for cruelty towards other people.

Jas 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

God said wars do not come from Him, but from the lusts of people, so God does not ordain wars, although He might allow it, but wars come from people.

With the exception of Israel in the Old Testament for God would allow them to fight, and would fight for them, but all others He did not ordain it, but might allow it.

Maybe those who wouldn't defend their families shouldn't have any. I can't think of a new testament command to be fruitful and multiply.

Solomon, inspired by God said, "There is a time to kill"

The commandment -->thou shalt not kill is referencing murder....

There was a thread started by a banned member a few years back and he said if his girlfriend or wife or child was being raped or murdered he would pray about it.....that is moronic

In my view, based upon almost 40 years of study it would not be wrong to defend family, friends and even strangers with lethal means if that was necessary.....

This post reeks of ignorance......God inspired Solomon to say there is a time for war and even had Joshua decimate Jericho and the Amorites....man...do you even study or just spew opinion all of the time!!!

I could never face my family if I were not willing to do anything necessary to

It is obvious some are blessed because they have never had to defend themselves or other.
Some of us have faced evil and have dealt with it.
Thankfully, no one was killed, but the evil one did suffered several broken bones in his face.

If Jesus ever kills anyone, He won't be my King anymore.
And I will burn in a lake of fire forever if that is the price.

Not to mention his comment reeks of ignorance....God said, "I kill and make alive"

See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

Amen.......100% agree......Linoleum reminds me of Jason007.....if his wife, daughter or girlfriend was being raped ot killed he would pray about it..........anyone that thinks God would hold one guilty for defending an innocent child lethally if necessary from a bloody wicked man is ignorant
