These are the best kind of testimonies, Grandpa. Nothing about tongues, appartitions, miracles. Just a new relationship with the Lord that surpassed everything else. I've known several people like this.

From my understanding, the baptism in water is simply a public testimony of our faith in Jesus Christ.

I assume that "one baptism" is the one in Holy Spirit? Let's not forget that when Jesus came out from the water, He was filled with the Holy Spirit.
The one baptism in Ephesians 4:4-6 is referring to the baptism with the Holy Spirit that Jesus gives at your salvation when you came to and believed in Him.

So how does one get baptized in Holy Spirit? Someone who is Pentecostal told me that someone has to place hands on you and speak in tongues, since speaking in tongues is a testimony of Holy Spirit working.

It seems the therm of "tongues" has been corrupted years ago when someone faked it and began being used by religions.

The idea of "tongues" originally in the times of the apostles was a different language to preach the Word to the gentiles who did not know the language.
1 Corinthians 12:[SUP]27 [/SUP]Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. [SUP]28 [/SUP]And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. [SUP]29 [/SUP]Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? [SUP]30 [/SUP]Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? [SUP]31 [/SUP]But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

Since not every one speaks in tongues, then connecting tongues as a sign of having the Holy Spirit working in us is false.

Someone else told me there are three baptisms. Knowing I'm yet a newborn, this is quite confusing for me, so I would appreciate some further explanation on this.
I have heard that too as testified by someone reading a book on it, but then he went on to share with me a personal revelation that there are five baptisms of the Spirit... sooo....

Nope. Not true.

If you consider this reproof below

Romans 12:1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [SUP]2 [/SUP]And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. [SUP]3 [/SUP]For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

If there were more than one baptism with the Spirit, how can they NOT think highly of themselves than they ought to think, after supposedly having received the "Spirit" "again" and after a sign too at that when other believers obviously have not experienced it? Then you have that false teaching you had mentioned as if speaking in tongues signifies the Holy Spirit working in them thus stealing the joy & faith of other believers' of their salvation because they do not speak in tongues as they do.

And that one verse that should reproved such false teaching for those that hear is this below.

1 Corinthians 12:[SUP]13 [/SUP]For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

One drink of that One Spirit and we are all filled as promised for coming to and believing in Jesus Christ.

John 6:[SUP]35 [/SUP]And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

To imply another receiving of the Holy Spirit is to deny the promise given above by Jesus for us to rest in Him, thus denying that rest in Him when we first came to and believed in Him when they seek to be filled afterwards by seeking another baptism with the Holy Spirit.

We are complete in Christ Colossians 2:5-10

The Father filleth us and is in us all Ephesians 1:17-23

So what is going on when supernatural phenomenon occurs when seeking to receive the Holy Spirit after a sign is really after the workings of Satan with signs and lying wonders as God will permit a strong delusion to occur for believing that lie.

We are warned against doing this... seeking to receive Jesus again...even the Spirit of Christ again... 2 Corinthians 11:1-4

So leave that church and follow the Son by keeping your eyes on Him that you are filled as promised, and thus continualy seeking His face because the Bridegroom will be coming soon for the ready bride and those foolish virgins that are out at the market in getting filled, had best repent and return to their first love or risk being left behind from the Marriage Supper at the pre tribulational rapture event.

Ephesians 1:[SUP]12 [/SUP]That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. [SUP]13 [/SUP]In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, [SUP]14 [/SUP]Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,

Hebrews 11:1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. [SUP]2 [/SUP]For by it the elders obtained a good report......[SUP]6 [/SUP]But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Galatians 3:[SUP]14 [/SUP]That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith....[SUP]26 [/SUP]For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. [SUP]27 [/SUP]For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. [SUP]28 [/SUP]There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. [SUP]29 [/SUP]And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

So may your Good Shepherd enable you to keep your eyes on Him and rest in Him that you are baptized with the promise of the Spirit by Jesus Christ when you first came to and believed in Him when you were filled and thus saved.

In all actuality it was probably a cheaper, knock off brand. That stuff was expensive...

This was just the beginning. There were a lot of things the Lord showed me I needed to let go of. Without going into great detail I can sum it by saying I gave Him my sorrow and shame and He gave me His Joy.

Shyforhim typed.... Let's not forget that when Jesus came out from the water, He was filled with the Holy Spirit.

I ask this... What spirit was in Jesus before he was baptized? Also the Holy Spirit but only a little bit, or completely another spirit? Or was he filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother's womb, like John the Baptist?

Was Jesus not GREATER than Johm the baptist? And God said that John was the greatest of ALL men born of woman... but even the SMALLEST in the Kingdom is greater, and Jesus is the BIGGEST in the Kingdom... So there is NO doubt that Jesus was FULL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT from his birth.

Wow! people are confused about the Holy Spirit BAPTISM.... Holy Spirit baptism, is the SAME EVENT as HOLY SPIRIT FILLED.... It is the moment that God takes YOUR SPIRIT, and PUT IT IN HIM, and HE TAKES HIS SPIRIT AND PUT IT IN YOU.... Also known AS REBORN... AT THE END OF YOUR SALVATION...

Let me Share this with you.... When God puts HIS HOLY SPIRIT in ANY body, that body is DRIVEN/MOVED by God, and not a human spirit. The Holy Spirit is NOT A HUMAN SPIRIT THAT CAN SIN.... HE CANNOT sin. Please get this...

ANY PERSON THAT IS BORN OF GOD DOES NOT COMMIT SIN; FOR HIS SEED (THE HOLY SPIRIT) REMAINITH IN HIM AND HE CANNOT SIN BECAUSE HE IS BORN OF GOD!!!!!

There IS NO OTHER WAY to be perfect and without sin... ONLY THE SEED OF GOD CAN ACHIEVE THIS.... NOTHING ELSE!!! But this is also true.... WHEN THE SEED OF GOD (HIS HOLY SPIRIT IS IN A PERSON THAT SPIRIT REMAIETH IN THAT PERSON AND THAT PERSON CANNOT SIN.... Because having that Spirit IN THAT person IS BORN OF GOD!!!

Botn of God and the SEED of God in a person is EXACTLY the same thing.... GOD FILLED YOU WITH HIS SPIRIT. That is why that Body CANNOT sin, GOD IS IN THAT BODY as He was in John the Baptis, and in Jesus, and in Paul and in ALL THE BORN AGAIN PERFECT SINLESS PEOPLE!!!!

It may help to stress the Spirit was on Christ in bodily shape/form from his Baptism,. I know of no one else in the bible that happened to

In the Bible, the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2) was done by the laying on of hands. It is still done this way today.
For clarification, consider using the termonlogy of "empowered by the Holy Spirit" rather than 'baptism'. Too many people cannot wrap their minds around the concept of a '2nd' baptism even though the Bible speaks of it. So....the first baptism, that of water, is one of repentance....it is what is done after becoming Born again. The 2nd, is an EMPOWERMENT from the Holy Spirit, done with the laying on of hands (although God is so gracious and will, at times, impart His Spirit for empowerment when asked), FOR THE PURPOSE OF DOING THE WORD OF GOD AND SPREADING THE GOSPEL. This impartation is mandatory for the 'raising the dead, casting out demons, laying hands on the sick and seeing them recover, etc. Never in scripture do you see those things happening without an impartation of the Holy Spirit EXCEPT when Jesus was actually walking among the people. After the resurrection, only those that had the Acts 2 experience did those things.
It IS for everyone.

Mark the tongues of fire on the 120 in the upper room? Does that also give a bodily form?
I would say Jesus was the body HOUSING the Holy Spirit ALL His life... that is why Jesus could not sin, same as John the Baptist, could not sin, because the Holy Spirit was the ONLY Spirit in BOTH men.

John had the HOLY SPIRIT, (the spirit of Elijah that was made HOLY BY GOD TO MAKE ELIJAH A PROPHET.... All Prophets were HOLY People as God is Holy, 2 Peter 1:21...

That is what also happens to ALL people God makes holy.... They become as holy AS GOD IS HOLY.... 1 John.

"For if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your
heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." —Romans 10:9

It is that easy. At the same moment you enter the Kingdom of Heaven as a Saint and you are given the Holy Spirit forever.

[SUP]Luke 11:11 [/SUP]“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[SUP] [/SUP]a fish, will give him a snake instead? [SUP]12 [/SUP]Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? [SUP]13 [/SUP]If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

When Jesus was baptized it was like a dove, and now like cloven tongues as of fire....

If you believe in your heart God has raised Jesus.... I experience that it has to be an UNWAVERING faith (not easily achieved, or not in a short time, I should say).... And the verse say you WILL be saved, it does not say you ARE saved... You see we believe that Jesus was risen, but we live from fiath to FAITH.... The second FAITH is the FAITH that comes when the Holy Spirit ENTERS... the PERFECT FAITH... that Jesus talked about... WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN ME... THE THINGS I DO HE SHALL DO AND EVEN GREATER THINGS... It is THAT faith that comes with the Holy Spirit.... A gift as explained in 1 Cor 12.

We are only saved when we endured to the end... Starting with the cofession of Jesus, and the belief that God raised Him from the dead.... Then we move on and start to believe what Jesus taught, and how the Spirit leads us n Truth, to perfect holiness and righteousness... SALVATION IN GOD////

Now Maggie I would like to bring your attention to a verse where God says... Whosoever is born of God sinneth not.... 1 John 3:9. And this, God says, is possible because HIS SEED remains in that person. Why do we still sin after the "born again' explaination you talk about? God says whosoever is born of God sinneth not, and he CANNOT sin... Why can we still sin after the born again you explain?

The SEED God talks about has to be the Holy Spirit, and God says because this Spirit is in and remains with the person that is the reason that person does not sin. We sin, and some even claim they sin with the Holy Spirit in them, MAKING GOD THE LIER... but it is only because of years of false doctrines. I feel real sorry for them, but my dear friend are they set on these lies...

There are many places in the Bible where God explains what a person becomes when the Holy Spirit does make His home in a person... It is a POWER of God over ALL evil.... And it is the ONE touch of God that make a person a part of GOD'S Kingdom, even right here on this world... The whole world lies in iniquity and wicketness, but the BORN OF GOD, keepeth HIMSELF and the wicked toucheth him NOT! God's POWER keeps them UNTOUCHABLE... What an awesome God we have in Christ Jesus...

As much as a big controvery is this, I seek answers to understand further more about the Holy Spirit. I started this thread on another forum and it ended up in a big fight and debate; no, I need answers, not debates.

From my understanding, the baptism in water is simply a public testimony of our faith in Jesus Christ.

But John the Baptist said:

Seems very easy, right? But in Ephesians there's one more thing.

I assume that "one baptism" is the one in Holy Spirit? Let's not forget that when Jesus came out from the water, He was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Someone else told me there are three baptisms. Knowing I'm yet a newborn, this is quite confusing for me, so I would appreciate some further explanation on this.

Baptism in the HS is the act of God baptizing us.

As you showed in the passage that John the baptist said, He (jesus) will baptise with the HS and fire. he goes onto explain using farmers terms.

His winnowing fan is in his had, he is going to separate the wheat (saved) from the chaff (unsaved)

Those who are baptised with the HS are the wheat, those who are not are the chaff, and they will be burned with an unquestionable fire.

Baptism represents cleansing.

Paul tells us in Rom 6, we are baptized into the death and burial of Christ
Paul tells us in 1 cor 12 we are baptized into the church
Paul tells us in col that we are are made clean (circumcized) by the hand of God, by being baptized into Christ.

All these things are the baptism of the Spirit. it is the act of God baptizing us into the death and burial of Christ, where our sins are washed away, he then baptizes us into his body, where we are sealed until the day of redemption
