I can't disagree with you here. However, while the CC does not teach people to worship Mary, many do. As for Immaculate Conception, they aren't talking about Mary, they're talking about Mary's mom. Nowhere in scripture does it say Mary was sinless nor an "eternal virgin." That IS what the CC teaches, and it's wrong.
well I can recall threads here wherein the 'veneration' of Mary was pushed by Catholics here at the time

Within Christianity, veneration is practiced by groups such as the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Roman Catholic, and Eastern Catholic Churches, all of which have varying types of canonization or glorification procedures. In the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, veneration is shown outwardly by respectfully bowing or making the sign of the cross before a saint's icon, relics, or statue, or by going on pilgrimage to sites associated with saints. In general, veneration is not practiced by Protestants and Jehovah's Witnesses, as many Protestants believe the practice amounts to idolatry. Common Lutherans and Anglicans have a positive attitude toward the veneration of saints and practice the naming of churches after saints, as well as keeping certain feasts.[5][6] WIKI

also just checked out some Catholic beliefs about the practice of veneration and they are quick to tell you that veneration is not worship. right. it's just veneration. well, give us a hail Mary or 3 or 24

In response to the accusation that they worship Mary and the saints, Catholics will often claim that they “venerate,” not worship, them. To venerate is to regard with great respect or to revere. Veneration can be defined as “respect or awe directed toward someone due to his/her value or greatness.”

The simplest definition of worship is to “ascribe worth.” Worship can be more completely defined as “showing respect, love, reverence, or adoration.” Based on the dictionary, no clear difference between veneration and worship exists. In fact, veneration and worship are often used as synonyms for each other.

But dictionary definitions are not the point. It does not matter what it is called. The Bible nowhere instructs followers of Jesus Christ to offer worship, veneration, adoration, or anything similar to anyone but God. Nowhere does the New Testament describe any followers of Jesus Christ worshiping, venerating, or adoring anyone other than God. They did not receive worship, either. Peter refused to receive adoration from Cornelius (Acts 10:25–26), and Paul and Barnabas were equally adamant that the people of Lystra not venerate them (Acts 14:15). Twice in the Book of Revelation (Revelation 19:10; 22:8), the apostle John begins to worship an angel, and the angel instructs him, “Worship God!” Mary and the saints who have gone to heaven before us would say the same thing: “Worship God!” Got Questions (not a Catholic site)

I do remember that in discussions about that a few years back, the conclusion was that people excuse their worship by using the word 'venerate'

once I tried all 4 parts of the holy rosary, all mysteries, 3 times in a row, after each complete 4 parts I had a 30 minute break...
it took almost 8 hours
..
whoever succeeds even only 2x in a row, already feels the great light, but after three ..
but when I prayed the complete holy rosary 3 times in a row, it already created a state for me, it was like the opiates that Americans take... but without any subsequent bad states..
and that day when I slept, I had to visit the heavens, because then I experienced the most beautiful and intense dreams I've ever had... until then I had never been in such a "place" in a dream..
this is probably how the real world we are going to look like, there is complete peace and a nice atmosphere, music was playing in the background like in some game, everyone there was very friendly..
and this here is either not true at all or, if true, not of the Holy Spirit

the Holy Spirit does not give rides on spiritual roller coasters

Tell that to the Charismatics/Pentacostals!
well there is quite a bit wrong in some practices going on there

although I do believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit being current with today, I stay away from churches where experience is put in front of the word

I myself was really deceived some years back by Pentecostals promoting a certain 'evangelist' who was actually a practicing homosexual. Now come on ~ don't you think that the Holy Spirit would have warned all these people that they were under delusion? By my own deception, I followed some of the practices I learned at these meetings and the only thing that got me out of that mess was renouncing the errors and aligning my belief with the Bible

My background is actually very conservative and I thank God I had something to balance the truth with

I would never defend any practice that puts itself before the truth of scripture

Tell me Eli, why is my post # 321 funny to you?

Do you defend the veneration of saints?

There was nothing funny in that post.

It’s funny because magnets will always repeal themselves regardless of any amount of communication.
It’s bound to happen.
Could this be Calvinism?
Can we ever escape our trenches?
Maybe a few elect can. :)

Well, it was meant as satire, which always has a little truth to it. In any case, I also grew up in a conservative church, and have since been to many different ones. A pastor once told me I was my own ecumenical movement.

well that's not confusing

I guess I will conclude with whatever tickles your fancy

we are to have no other Gods or worship/venerate any but the God of the Bible

The guy said he had some kind of weird experience. Nowhere in there is any indication that God Jesus or the Holy Spirit was present. We also know that Satan can appear as an angel of light.

Queen of heaven is a pagan term. Which is where mary got her pagan worship in the name of the pagan church
While “Queen of Heaven” was a title given to many sky goddesses in the ancient Mediterranean and ancient Near East, including Isis, Nut, Astarte, Innana, Asherah, and Ishtar, Mary, on the other hand, is called “Queen of Heaven” because her son, Jesus, is the heavenly king. In the Davidic tradition of ancient Israel , the mother of the king is recognized as “Queen Mother”; hence the title “Queen of Heaven”.

That said, for some it is easy to assume there are direct connections between cultural and historical parallels where there aren’t any at all. This is such a case, but many people just don’t want to see it.

Biblical Mary at her best:

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.”
