Like I said, grace taken to a hyper extent replaces the Person of Jesus for a pet doctrine,
We come to Jesus to receive grace. We don't come to grace to receive Jesus.

No one is denying the necessity of grace but grace is not the OBJECT of our faith.

Hebrews 4:14-16 KJVS
[14] Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. [15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
are you having a laugh.

The Righteousness of God Through Faith
21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it---22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.

when did a gentile go to a jewish priest,(context to date, in history )

apart ,split from law.

We are boasting in the Lord and what He has done and His grace is not a pet doctrine....that is very clear....it is all about Him...you cannot separate Jesus and grace....( see post #5 )...all this below was in the OP...

1 Corinthians 1:31
… “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”

but boast in His grace for us—that He is our strength, health, favor, provision, wisdom, hope, salvation and glory. That is how we will see ourselves enjoying our inheritance of abundant life! He, the Lord Jesus is our true abundant life and treasure.

And then there is this scripture..

Romans 15:17 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Therefore in Christ Jesus I have found reason for boasting in things pertaining to God.

Paul said that he is boasting in the cross of our Lord Jesus...is that now an idol now too?..see post #6...

I can just see some people with that same mentality going berserk when we talk about the fact that God loves us like a Father and that He is a good, loving Father too. Is that an idol now too?

There has to be something else driving this mindset inside you...and it's not from the Lord....I really encourage you to check your motives for this antagonism against the grace of our Lord Jesus....I'll just leave it at that with you.

Boasting in the cross is figurative language for the lord's obedience unto death. Paul wasn't boasting in a physical object that didn't exist anymore.

figurative language is the problem , new covenant replaces old covenant.
this change ,was made by god. was fore told by god. before jesus christ came.

6 he says:
"It is too light a thing that you should be my servant
to raise up the tribes of Jacob
and to bring back the preserved of Israel;
I will make you as a light for the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth."

it was the non christian jews, or old covenant jews, that wanted to keep god to them selfs. keep everything etc.

28 And he said to them, "You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean Acts 10

So if we boast in the Lord's grace for us and in His love for us and in all that He has done for us in His majestic work on our behalf.....if we boast in all things pertaining to God as Paul says....God is love...Jesus is grace and truth.....He is called the Spirit of grace...and the Truth...are not these attributes the same as being Him?....are they not realities of Him?

We are allowed to boast in the things the Lord has done in and through us !!!

What we are not allowed to boast about is in self, meaning anytime you give yourself the credit for what was done instead of given God the credit !!!

If you have learned to be content by the Spirit, you can boast how He has taught you to be this way.

If you have learned to be obedient by the Spirit, you can boast how He has taught you to be this way.

And so on................

It becomes idol worship if you put to much focus on the cross, and not what was done on the cross.

Then the other thing we must remember is that Jesus is no longer hanging on the cross, He is a risen Lord and we are to walk as such in Him.

If we are still looking back at the cross we are not moving forward in the faith !!!

Some things to consider as we look at Jesus and grace..here is one person's perspective complete with scripture..

Is Grace a Person?

People sometimes ask me, “Why do you say grace is another name for Jesus?” or “Why do you say grace is a Person?”

Grace isn’t a bunch of rules for you to keep. And grace is not God’s lubricant for greasing the cogs of self effort. Grace is a Person living his life through you. Living under grace is like being married, only more so. It’s the adventure of life shared with Christ.

Of course, I am not the only one who says grace is a Person. Many others have, including Joseph Prince:

Grace is not a theology. It is not a subject matter. It is not a doctrine. It is a person, and his name is Jesus. That’s the reason the Lord wants you to receive the abundance of grace, for to have the abundance of grace is to have the abundance of Jesus. (Destined to Reign, p.24)

Prince says that the law is impersonal and was given (suggesting an arms-length transaction), while grace is personal and came when Jesus came (John 1:17). That sounds good to me, but some people find this weird.

“You make it sound like there’s a fourth member of the Trinity called Grace.”

We’re simply saying that God gives us his grace through his Son. Jesus came full of grace from the One who sits on the throne of grace. He is the personification of the Father’s grace. No Jesus, no grace. Know Jesus, know grace.

“But isn’t it weird to say grace has a personality?”

Maybe, but it’s not without Biblical basis. In Romans Paul describes sin as having a personality. He says sin is a noun (not a verb) characterized by desires and an agenda. In fact, everything the Bible says about sin is true of Satan. Both sin and Satan seek to devour us (Gen 4:7, 1 Pet 5:8) and kill us (Rom 7:11, John 8:44), and both have been defeated by Jesus (Heb 9:26, John 12:31).

Just as sin is synonymous with Satan, grace is synonymous with Jesus. Here are eighteen reasons why.

Why is grace another name for Jesus?

The gospel of grace is the gospel of Jesus (Acts 20:24 2 Th 1:8)

We are saved by grace (Eph 2:5); we are saved by Jesus (2 Tim 1:9).

We are justified by grace (Rom 3:24); we are justified by Jesus (Rom 4:25).

  1. Grace helps us; Jesus helps us (Heb 4:16).
God’s grace offers salvation to all (Tit 2:11); Jesus is the Savior of all (1 Tim 4:10).

God is love and love that stoops (or comes down) is grace; Jesus is the Father’s love come down (John 16:28).

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ (Rom 8:9) and the Spirit of Grace (Heb 10:29).

  1. All the blessings of God come to us by grace alone and all of them are found in Jesus (Eph 1:3).
Grace is a teacher (Tit 2:12); Jesus is a teacher (Matt 8:19).

Grace reigns (Rom 5:21); Jesus reigns (1 Cor 15:25).

When the Galatians cut themselves off from Christ, they cut themselves off from grace (Gal 5:4).

In the same way that God is love, Jesus is grace (see 2 Cor 13:14).

The Bible speaks of “the love of God” and “the grace of Jesus” ( 1Cor 16:23, Rev 22:21).

God’s grace is given in Christ Jesus” (1 Cor 1:4, Eph 1:6, 2 Tim 1:9, 2:1). Jesus is the embodiment of God’s grace.

Here are two Biblical blessings that say the same thing: “The Lord be with you” and “grace be with you” (2 Tim 4:22, Phm 1:25).

The Old Testament prophets foretold the coming of Jesus and the coming of grace (1 Pet 1:10). These weren’t two separate events. Grace came when Jesus came (John 1:17).

To the degree that we know Jesus, we enjoy God’s grace (2 Pet 1:2)

Jesus is the word of God and the word of his grace which can build you up (Act 20:32)

Why does it matter?

This matters a great deal because grace will not bear fruit in your life if you think it is merely a concept or a doctrine. As Judah Smith said recently:

We shudder at the term grace because it has been so maligned, so abused, so misrepresented. We see grace as the get out of jail free card. “Oh yeah, I love me some grace man. I get my jiggy on in the weekend then I come back on Sunday and get me my grace on.” No, that’s not grace. You’ve met a concept, not a Person.”

I regularly encounter people who don’t know what grace is so they misuse it or they attack it. Just the other day someone wrote to tell me that too much preaching on grace leads to wrongdoing. That’s simply not possible when you have a proper understanding of grace.

Grace no more leads to wrongdoing than love for your spouse will lead you to Ashley Madison.
The other day I happened to catch a prominent TV evangelist tearing my stuff to shreds on his program. (Watched by millions!) It’s nice to be noticed but I was saddened that he was using his platform to disparage the only thing that can empower people to live well.

I occasionally get asked by pastors to come and preach a sermon or run a seminar on grace because they recognize it as a hot topic. It makes me wonder what they’re preaching when they’re not preaching grace. Jesus is not a “hot topic” or a buzzword to be slotted into your teaching schedule. He’s the Lover of our souls and the Center of Everything!

What grace is not

Grace is not a doctrine or a podcast or a tweet. Grace is not a season to walk through or a midweek seminar. Grace is not one aspect of God’s character to be balanced against his other, less gracious aspects.

Grace is a Person who loves you, died for you, and now lives for you. The gospel of grace is the gospel of Jesus – there is no difference.

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you!

This though is where one must distinguish between the Mosaic law and the Perfect law of liberty in Christ !!!

Yes we are not to live by keeping a bunch of written ordinances, but we are to live a morally right life by the standards that our Lord Jesus set forth.

Apostle Paul clearly shows there is still conditions to the Liberty we have, it is not just a free do whatever you want standard !!!

Apostle Paul gave clear warnings about using Liberty to live immoral lives, and the whole reason he addressed the Corinthian church was because if was full of members and teachings allowing immoral and sinful actions to continue within it.

The church was operating in a disorderly fashion, and Paul told them they needed to straighten up or else !!!

Is Grace a Person?

People sometimes ask me, “Why do you say grace is another name for Jesus?” or “Why do you say grace is a Person?”
This idea that grace is GOD himself, rather than an expression of GOD's love as a means of sanctification for a sinful race that he longs to redeem, is virtually indistinguishable from the gnostic idea that grace was the spirit-being Christ who descended from above and joined himself in a mysterious union with those whose spirit had been awakened by a special knowledge (gnosis) that saves.

Against Heresies (chapter VI)

For [the gnostics] declare that we [Christians] simply receive grace for use [in sanctification], wherefore also it will again be taken away from us; but that they themselves have grace as their own special possession, which has descended from above by means of an unspeakable and indescribable conjunction; and on this account more will be given them.

The teaching of the grace of Christ is all about Him......I don't know how many ways I can say that you are antagonistic towards the Spirit of grace ....but I do know where it stems from...and you do too...but that is between you and your Lord.

I will continue to magnify the beauty and love of our Father expressed in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ all I can...and if that offends you...so be it....Bless you and I will leave you with this exhortation.

That's why I put in "biblical love "..not the world's love....see how the love of God is synonymous with God Himself..and if we abide in love..we abide in God....why is that?..because God is love...

1 John 4:16 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

I'm convinced I've hit a nerve judging by the nature of the replies.
Christiandom is full of intermediaries vying for the exalted position of Jesus Himself.
Today's latest is an attribute of God called grace.
So now we are told to remember God's grace, exalt in it, argue with others about it showing them 'the more perfect way' etc.
I guess I'm old school. I go with this...

in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments. For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ. Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,
(Col 2:3-9)

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
(1Ti 3:16)

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
(Col 1:27)

Thank you!...great scripture that shows His fullness is grace for grace...which we have all received. He is awesome! Our Father is excited to show us His surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us that is in Christ our Lord!

We cannot separate out grace from Christ...to have grace is to have Christ..to have Christ is to have grace....they are one...they are one just like love and God....we lift up and glorify all that our Lord has done for us in His finished work.

We have a good, good Father!

Ephesians 2:7 (NASB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

John 1:16
And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
