The fruit of the King James speaks for itself. You know, the KJV was the Bible for a really really long time before the Modern Translations came onto the scene. Also, you are twisting the context of what is being said. My debating it is not going to help you. Other good believers understand what the Pre-face actually says.

Read it here:

PREFACE TO THE 1611 KING JAMES BIBLE

See, the problem I have with your position on the Word of God is that you can make the Bible say whatever you want it to say by making the Bible a "Choose Your Own Adventure Type Bible" by choosing whatever Hebrew (OT) or Greek (NT) definition you want in a Lexicon and nobody would be the wiser because nobody speaks Hebrew and Greek anymore. But people do speak English, though. In other words, you don't believe what is plainly written for all to easily understand. God is not the author of confusion. He speaks plainly for us to understand but what is spoken plainly is hidden from those who are still yet carnal or focused on the outward things of this world. Jesus quoted Scripture many times by saying, "It is written..." Now, if the Scriptures were not nailed down to one specific meaning, then people would be asking Him which variation or definition of the Word of God was He using (Kind of like what you are doing). But no such thing is reported to us within the Scriptures. Jesus had one set authority in quoting the Scriptures. You either believe there is one written Word of God that exists thru out all thru out all time (for every generation), or you don't believe it. I mean, think about it, my friend. Jesus said, Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Is not Hebrew and Greek dead languages? What group of people speak and write this language perfectly like they did back in the day? Nobody.

In fact, my intimacy with Christ involves the King James Bible. I remember almost losing my faith, because I thought their was an error in God's Word. For I realized that if even one word was in question in my Bible, then who is to say that the rest of it should be questioned as being not true. But you know what I did back then? I had faith. Faith in God's Word. I trusted it was perfect and it was not in error and that there was an explanation; And then many many years later God showed me the explanation behind what I thought was a potential error or supposed contradiction.

See, not all Bibles say the same thing. We have two different faiths. You attack God's Word. However, when you attack God's Word (the KJV), you are attacking my faith. You are attacking the very words of God and you are not having faith in what His Word actuallly says. For the Scriptures say that God's Word is perfect and that it would be preserved for forever.

I want to say I love you DC. Perhaps I was a little harsh and quick to jump to conclusions. But then again, so were you. You questioned a word within my post, that placed one of my testimonies of Jesus Christ (Within my life) into question. I seen that as an attack against the One in whom I love. I apologize for questioning your salvation. But you have to realize that you first attacked my testimony of Jesus Christ. You were poking holes in it by saying that one of my words was a lie. Which is not true. I was using slang (Which is how Americans and many other cultures naturally speak). Anyways, I want to say that I do apologize for questioning your salvation. It is true that such a thing is ultimately God's decision; And things can change between now and the Judgment. But I also realize that the Word of God cannot lie, either. The Scriptures say we are to love one another. I don't believe we cannot love and also be Christian. I seen your post as an attack against my testimony that was not done in love (Which I believed to be Anti-Christian).

In any event, I hope you understand where I am coming from.
My desire is to an extend an olive branch to you in love and peace.
Anyways, may God's love shine upon you in a great way today.
And may He bless you greatly.
Love and truth go hand in hand and I did not use exclamation marks, but rather question marks......Had I been making a solid statement I would have used ! instead of ? and if you study as much as you say you do (not saying you don't) then you should know that ONE word can make or break a context.....Jesus loved all and yet OCCASOIONALLY was stiff in his use of words...

Like...Blind leaders of the blind, white washed coffins filled with dead men's bones, hypocrites etc........Just because I called a word into question that you used, does not mean that I hate you, don't like you and or were attacking Jesus....

As far as the olive branch goes.....I have nothing against you whatsoever at all and yes LOVE is to cover a multitude of SIN :)

Apology accepted and I apologize for coming of offensive in my posts as well....!

And people go foraging around in the Greek or a lexicon, deigning to find something the scholars of the generations missed, about 40 of them for the King James? Before the King James, there were Tyndale and others, whose work was validated and comprises much work in the King James that stood. I know I don't nor ever will know more than these people, nor can one discount they were inspired in their work. I'll take what's in the Bible, before anybody playing with lexicons and finding a new, contradictory doctrine in jots and tittles, in such as some web forum.

As I said before: I don't believe I said anything that was not a part of how Americans normally communicate. Some folks are more literal in the way they speak. But you have to realize that people do use slang within our language and it is not wrong or inappropriate for them to do so. Even in the Bible, the word "all" doesn't mean "all." I took offense because I honestly believed you were poking a hole in my testimony of Jesus Christ. I didn't think it was appropriate. I still don't think it is appropriate in what you did. I would have never did that to you. If I had a problem with the way you communicated your testimony, I would have contacted you privately so as to post a "Re-edit."

So do you believe the KJV is the divinely inspired Word of God or not?If you don't believe there is one nailed down Word of God for us to easily understand, why do you think God would make it hard for this generation to understand Him? Do not people have a hard enough time understanding Him in their own language? Why would God make it harder for them? Did God or His people speak and write primarily in a language that the people didn't understand? See, that's the problem.

Well, like I said....I was questioning your use of Everywhere and yes Americans do use slang, but what if 1 person who does speak literal reads your post and ends up going the wrong direction because of your use of everywhere?<---- Just a thought and a question. After many years of study and use of words I speak LITERAL and as a matter of fact I am constantly correcting the people around me like my mother and my brother who constantly say things that are incorrect because of their use of words that change what they said into something that is not correct......!

And I am curious to your other statement......about ALL.....when does ALL not mean ALL when used in context? As I am interested in knowing....!

Sorry, I am not sure if you are KJV-only or not. It is hard to keep track of who is for it or against it in the way they speak sometimes.

I have no reference to divine God's intent where translations are concerned, that some argument sounds good, absent divine revelation in such matters, I don't know. The KJV is my primary Bible, spending little time in any others. But do I believe the KJV is inspired, such that the NASB is not? No.

This is a pretty basic teaching. "All" does not mean "all" in the Bible.

does ALL always mean ALL

WHy is it that just about every topic ends up being turned into a King James Only rant? Oh maybe that's because the cult of King James can not stand to see anything other than a verse from the King James, so throw the hand grande in and off we go again.

If there were only KJV around today as it was when I first discovered Bibles I would never have attempted to read it at all. Too much deciphering into modern day English needed and I would've just lost patience with it. Thank GOD for modern day translations that's all I can say. This may not make me a biblical scholar or a great Theologian but hey-ho I've read God's word and that's good enough for me! Now onto the study..

Well...no offence but I didn't ask for a link, but WHY you believe that....and I would disagree as ALL does mean ALL when used in context.....so not real sure where you are coming from on this one.....!

What I quoted to you was the ORIGINAL 1611 PREFACE, while what you are trying to get me to read is the MODERN DAY EDITED VERSION of the PREFACE. NOW isn't it a bit hypocritical of you to use an Modern English EDITED PREFACE and NOT USE A Modern English EDITED New King James Version?

GETTING BACK ON TRACK WITH THE TOPIC OF THIS THREAD. ALL TEN TRANSLATIONS that I have open on my WORDsearch 10, bless my HEART, as I read HIS WORD, and draw me even closer to JESUS CHRIST MY LORD. Like the 1611 Translation Team said, the other Translations certainly are the WORD OF GOD.

NOW we may know the PROBLEM. Did you just make up an excuse to NOT believe GOD is intelligent enough to MEAN ALL, what HE says ALL?

When the atheist looks at the Bible, they are going to point out passages in the Bible that make it sound like it is in error. Do you honestly think that my explaining what the text actually says according to the context or in light of other Scripture is going to matter to most of them? No. Why? Because they are biased and are wearing atheist glasses, just as you are biased against a perfect Word of God existing for our world language today. My explaining it to you is not going to help while you're wearing glasses that won't allow you to see it.

There are many occasions I've found an NASB, or ESV translation or the like, saying exactly the same thing, but in words that speak to the modern person better, some words in the KJV out of use. I've gained much insight, by comparative study of modern English verses, much. The modern English is a more understandable translation, which makes the word of God, at least the hearing of it, more accessible to a modern unbeliever, or more accessible, period, to a young believer, or new believer. It's like a periodic table of elements: learn the elements, first, then start delving into complexities of chemical reactions. Present the chemical reactions, absent a foundation in the elements, and all you'll get are blank stares. There is a KJV accessibility issue to many. There was a time to me, when young, the KJV was unreadable, a Good News Bible paving the way to understanding the gospel. Nobody can argue with me I didn't clearly find Christ in that unsophisticated, even much simplified Bible. An amplified Bible is wonderful for Bible study. I think, to make a prohibition of any tool that has guided people to Christ and to a closer walk with Christ, to greater understandings, that this is "straining at a gnat, and swallowing a camel." It's my experience various translations, not of cults, anyway, have a place, along with commentaries and all tools that aid one to learn and grow.

That can also go both ways right? Because at the end of the day God inspired the Greek and the Hebrew....anything after that is a translation and or transliteration....and I use the K.J..............!
