You guys kind of tickle me. You honestly haven't hung around with many Blacks, have you?......................................Well, one of you has, anyway.
I'm 60 years old. I own an auto repair shop and have been working on cars since I was 17 - for a living. You really think I'm naive about blacks? I didn't expect the contention to come from someone that thought it necessary to condescend to senior adults as being naive or ignorant. Do you always post before thinking?

Nobody in here would go to a restaurant & allow the waitress to serve your food on a garbage can lid.

Why in the world would anyone listen to either of these "so-called" preachers?
I gave the reason in my op why I posted this. I don't remember anyone saying they sat down and listened to these preachers, if you want to use that word to describe farrakhan. I would think racist dirt bag is more appropriate for him.

I guess I need to expound on the reason for posting.....I don't know if Manning is in church when he is speaking but he is at a podium. I'm thinking that harsh of an address is a bit much for a preacher to say from a pulpit. If he feels that way privately, I see no problem. That's why I asked.

well, like Marc said - he's preaching to a particular audience. Manning's church is in Manhattan NYC -- i'm in more or less rural south, and although at work or on the corner we may use some words with each other, people down here tend to put their "church clothes" on and talk differently when they're inside a building with a steeple on it. some pastors might say "nigga" from behind a pulpit here - but you can be sure it wouldn't be a white man, and it sure would be an emphatic point and not any sort of 'every-Sunday' occurrence.

i don't know much about Manning, but he seems like a very angry man that's always riled up. it's his shtick. and downtown NYC, (even if his headquarters are in Manhattan, he's heard and has influence around the city) i'm sure it doesn't have the same "shock" factor that it does for a lot of us.

anyway, i'm pretty thick-skinned personally when it comes to this kind of thing, and i think he has an audience that's on his wavelength. i don't think that's appropriate for a broader segment of people, but not because of some intrinsic evil of words, but because for sure there are plenty of people who would hear some of his vocabulary and their ears would just automatically shut to whatever the point he was trying to get across is. i gather that you're past that - but .. well put it this way; a guy who talks like that could never be president. a president has to appeal to a huge range of demographics, so he has to be about as "beige" as possible.

"I am the lone voice crying out in the wilderness!" *cue tithes and offerings overlay*

It is slightly offensive/uncalled for but people do tend to get excited about politics.

i tell them "saltine" is the culturally sensitive word ;)
But isn't that being insensitive to oyster crackers? Maybe we can start using the term 'FSW substance'! (Flour, salt, water). Maybe start a mandatory class for it! What say you?

Found it interesting that Farrakhan referred to Obama as Messiah when he referred to himself and Elijah Muhammad (deceased in 1975) as Messiah.

Born Louis Walcott, Louis Abdul Farrakhan became the understudy of Malcolm X in 1955 and in 1957 at the age of 24 was appointed head of the old Mosque of Dorchester, when Macolm transferred to Harlem.

When Elijah Muhammad died in 1975, his son began opening their organization to all Muslims. Because of this Farrakhan started publishing the Final Call newspaper and rallying "purists" to rebuild the organization.

Farrakhan said he is the source of life for his people:

"The voice of Elijah Myhammad coming through me is giving life to the Nation (Islam). I warn you that when you turn me down and refuse this truth, you are turning down the Lord, the Savior, the Messiah, the Deliverer that you seek."

(Henry J. Young, Major Black Religious Leaders Since 1940 (Nashville, Abingdon, 1979, 66-67)

Farrakhan said if you revolt against him, you are revolting against "Almighty God."

"You must remember my beloved Muslim brothers and sisters, the authority that Elijah Muhammad has today is divine He is Almighty God, Allah, in person. Any minister who Elijah Muhammad appoints is appointed by divine authority; any laborer has divine authority; so when we revolt against this authority, set up by the divine, backed by the divine, we are actually revolting against God Himself."

(7 Speeches of Louis Farrakhan)

Went over and checked out "The Moody Adams Evangelistic Association" website. I'm totally shocked because I bought the book on Farraakhan The Religion That Is Raping America over 20yrs ago and this guy is still selling it for the same price I paid!

Anywho, they have a book that I'm gonna get, it's only $12.95. The description of the book is:

THE OBAMA PROPHECIES: 10 Ancient Predictions

President Obama is fulfilling 10 ancient prophicies. While many people are shocked by his policies, they are what Bible prophecies foretold was to happen in earth’s last days.

I posted a video of him talking about T.D. Jakes and he seemed pretty calm.
