." make a tree good and its fruit will be good" or "do you pick berries from a thornbush?" so basically u are saying a false prophet is recognized by bad fruit? but your saying they can fake good fruit and be a false prophet? I'm confused I'm sorry, truly, if I'm missing what ur saying. I believe that if someones words and fruit line up with Jesus word, there is no reason to doubt or accuse. The spirit in us will know the spirit. and the fruit of the spirit is real attributes Of His spirit living in us. God bless you thanks for taking the time to respond
This just may be why Jesus said to look for the "Love."

Unfortunately, not everyone is who they purport to be.

I'm all for the 'love' message. The 'natural affection' message. The 'grateful' message. But how can anyone miss the 'truth' message?
Apostate from His 'truth' and you end up with the Laodecian and Sardis churches. DEAD, when it comes to love, natural affection, and gratefulness, among other things. That's where the 'church' is today. Sorry to say.
Just being NICE and avoid correction, reproof, rebuke, and exhortation is Disaterous. It may seem 'the Christian thing to do' but 'nice' will not set anyone free from the things of this world.....the 'Truth will make you free'..free to have the full operations of the Spirit within that activates agape love, thankfulness, kindness, patience, humility, holiness, and generosity.

Just being 'nice' for the sake of 'nice' can send folks right to Gehenna if that 'nice' is not enveloped by the fullness of the Holy Spirit and ALL the council of God.
If just being 'nice' is all that it takes to get to our destination, then God could have just put it on a post card.....'Get BORN AGAIN AND BE NICE'! Signed ...GOD!
But He has handed down to us some very important eternal instructions, corrections, and guidelines, as such.

Now I hope I said all that nice! Smile.

acting "nice" is far different from bearing the fruit of the spirit. I believe Love is misunderstood as the worlds form of love by many, true Love is the gospel. Gods Love shared in and with emanating, from God the father, through His son and then again through us to one another. I cant help if someone takes the truth and sees it through false eyes. truth is the spirit of God, no more, no less.

you are correct, but I would suggest that until they exhibit who they are, whatever truth they speak should be taken for what it is and we should go into the situation believing that God still does have people in the world who Belong to Him. Love always trusts.....and we trust God to expose the false, while discerning the truth that they do exhibit according to God word, and known by His spirit living in those who belong to Him at whatever stage they are at. whether just beginning or far along the narrow path. God bless you in all things good

I fear that too many of us think "preaching 'TRUTH' at those people" and walking on if they don't "repent" is showing love.

I say, "Not so"... but to take them to a restaurant for a hot meal, and then, perhaps to pay for a motel room for them for the night AFTER they have not jumped for joy at your preaching, is more a picture of "Love."

Ultimately what we all have to remember when the roll is called up yonder is that in the end there will only be two groups of people. Those that are saved, the righteous and those who are not saved, the wicked. At that time it won't matter if you are a Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, SDA, Pentecostal, Lutheran, or any other of the many denominational names we have today....

Saved and unsaved will be the two people groups.
couldn't agree more woith your post God bless you and thanks for adding this to the discussion, a lot of value in your words God bless you

surely cant disagree with that Willie. makes me think of feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and in prison ect....true Love has many forms. words, actions, feeling, when words and actions are working together regardless of feeling, you are exhibiting Love. sometimes silence is even a good exhibition of love given the many different situations we face with one another in this place we dwell for now known as the world. we learn and press on, toward the goal of perfect Love that is perfected in us already.......but can we find it and walk in step with it? that is the focus in my own humble opinion. God bless bro good stuff thanks for adding the good words

I'd like to add that there is a different but corresponding point that can be made about all believers, and that is what I think Willie-T is speaking to. Perhaps he will expound further on it further.

“We" will be known by our love one for another. But we obviously do not express that love perfectly. In fact, I see that as the true indicator and not love itself. We all exhibit bad fruit, and ironically that is not the disqualifier for me, but the sign to me that we are not faking it….because who in their right mind would fake bad fruit??

And here I thought that was what a Christian was....one who followed Christ to become more like Him.... You trying to bumfuzzle the Blond? lol

I believe the same way, to follow after Christ and be made more like Him as we do is my own personal identification of the term Christian. wich I am glad to bear the name. God bless you and thanks for the cookie yesterday lol

I'm not sure what you are saying, no one is perfect, but perfection in Love should always remain our goal. to exhibit His Love. in an online forum discussion, I cant necessarily go feed the hungry but love is exhibited in words and interactions in sharing Christ. No one really can judge what we do apart from in the forum, what I'm saying is we should in a setting where we only can speak to one another, take every advantage to learn from, in a peaceful manner one another. taking whatever truth we find that adds to whatever truth we possess because of the spirit opf God in us. what I do in the world is between God and myself, and I believe in loving as the picture of Judgement Given by Christ when he gathers the sheep and the goats. one side loved the least of these by feeding the hungry, clothing the needy ect..the other side did not . Love is available in any and all situations.

fruit is seen oin words, actions our lives and how we live them word and deed. I'm definitely missing something to a different and corresponding point. sorry but I ramble, I cant say things in a word or two....

shouldn't we when we see the "bad fruit" in ourselves, look to make that fruit good ? and not just say well this fruit isn't good in me. we have a goal and each day we advance toward perfecting Love in reverence for Christ and his suffering. complacency and acceptance of bad fruit in ourselves hinders our ability to grow in the good fruits of the spirit. I used to think the same way, now I press on to perfection, that is Christ in me, though I am far from perfect, it is now and remains my own goal, to perfect Love in all its forms.

Yes, if that isn't an automatic response, then we should take a good, hard look at what we say we believe, and who we think we are following.

I am not sure the idea is about to see bad fruit in your-self. You do not need to look at the fruit, you know your heart.
The mouth speaks of what the heart is full of.

The fruit analogy is on looking with caution to teachers who suggest they have the truth, yet are keen to tell you at the same time all the evil wrong christians are who appear to be like the real christians but are not even born again.

They also go so far as to condemn people looking at fruit because that is being judgemental. If all gets a bit confusing because you are not meant to look at fruit, you are not meant to notice sin and say anything negative, while condemning brothers and sisters as being evil, but that is ok, because they are not real christians like us with the "true" gospel.

It sounds like a reverse pharisee, trying so hard not to be one, you become the reflection of them, against the law, righteousness, trying to support the weak believer, and saying people leave the faith because they feel so condemned having to carry all the heavy burdens of not sinning, it is just too much to ask them to follow Jesus, just believe, and leave them alone.

I don't have enuff fingers & toes to count how many on here have quoted from their favorite televangelist & have claimed their "spirit" discerned it as true.

Not sayin' you're wrong, jus' sayin' there's some that couldn't discern a bumble bee from a turkey vulture.
