Funny, yet sad some believe it is saying that.
Calvinism is more sinister the more I look into it. The devastating effects of fatalism can be seen in places like India, where many believe in hinduism, which, along with islam and calvinism believe in predestination of all things.
A belief like that is guaranteed to breed complacency and in the case of Calvinism, fear that you may not be one of the elect, but one of the deceived.
To eliminate the free will of man is to eliminate genuine love for God and human responsibility. I agree with Justin Martyr on that one.
I would think that Hinduism, which, along with Islam has a different foundation than what you Calvinism (Christianity ).
Calling free will , as eliminating the need to get under the "hearing of faith" (our understanding of a God not seen) Him giving us his willful power to beleive the free will to perform. That power was usurped by a creature that ended up getting its legs cut off. , Mankind violated the loving law "Thou shalt not". By subjecting their will to another as that seen. No faith needed. .
Looking at Luke 18:8 .Makes me wonder when he comes on the last day will he find faith or an experience like the fall?
Free will was designed to be used in believing God not seen. The law of faith. The will of mankind did not evolve from a blob as if it was a blank check no signature needed do your own thing. .The will came with a signature (you shall surely die. )
That gifted will was discarded in the garden. . . the glory of God departed Man became a slave to the things seen .
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
By giving the will of the Creator over to a creature that has form it took away the power to do the will of the Creator .His glory departed.
Mankind gave up free will of doing the pleasure of His faithful Creator, not seen. Gave it over to do the will of a creature, seen.
God's genuine love is shown in his mercy . He is not merciless. That would violate his own principle. He will not be found guilty of no mercy . There would be no way to show his work of grace triumphs over judgment .
In that way eternal sufferings "no mercy" is not a biblical doctrine.
Some have been freely given the grace that came from the Father and Sons labor of love. Others will not rise and receive a new incorruptible bodies.
The glory of God having returned in the new heavens and earth.( Revelation 21) The former things of this life will not come to our memories. The sufferings of hell. . . the wage of sin experienced in these corrupted earthen bodies. . . it is left behind returning to dust . And death the letter of the law is cast into the lake of fire. Never to rise . .and declare . . "Thou shall surely die"
James 2:13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
Two kinds of Mercy. Mercy seasoned with grace, The
works of Gods. . mercy. The other the sufferings of hell. . the first death by suffering has ended .
The flesh of the unbeliever returns to the dust and the temporal spirit of judgement returns to the father of all spirit life.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
